Chapter 48: A New Plan

Diego’s POV

“Marcell,” I called out after my cousin.

Marcell walked away from me, leaving me in the small garage, opening the automatic garage door, flooding the dark space with bright light. My cousin had left me utterly speechless in the wake of my uncle’s demise.

“Come on cousin. There’s about to be a really confused teacher on my estate and I would rather she see your face and hear the plan from your lips than hear it from me,” Marcell tossed over his shoulders.

“Marcell…” I repeated jogging to catch up with him, my brain slow and sluggish. “This wasn’t the plan.”

“Really?” Marcell stopped turning around to face me suddenly. “You’re chastising me over the fact that I didn’t stick with your sh*tty plan? I’m handing you a golden ticket here, Diego. A start at a new life, and you’re complaining about a plan you hastily threw together?”

“I can’t let you do this,” I insisted.
