Chapter 16 Honey Means Money

'Host, the honey these bees produce is an important ingredient in multiple potions, try not to damage the honeycomb to collect the honey later.' The system reminded her kindly.

'Really? Okay, thanks for the reminder.'

She picked up a stone and threw it at the honeycomb with all her strength. The honeycomb was built at a considerable height, so the momentum of the throw almost diminished when the stone collided with the honeycomb and was able to damage it just a bit.

The Honey Bees inside the honeycomb sensed the danger and came out to eliminate the threat. Numerous yellow, fist size Honey Bees shot toward her like bullets, almost covering the sky above her. The buzzing sound from their wings bore heavy on her mind.

Not wanting to damage the honeycomb due to their confrontation, she turned around and ran away.

But in the race between the one running and the other flying, the later would undoubtedly be faster.

Just as the Bees were about to use their stingers to pierce her, she activated the protection barrier and was able to survive the onslaught.

After their multiple failed attempts to break the barrier, the Honey Bees didn't give up and sat on the outer surface of the barrier and stared at her with their creepy red eyes, making her shudder.

Can you imagine yourself being stared at by hundreds of pairs of red, eerie pupils?

But that didn't faze her for much longer, she adjusted the tank of the flamethrower on her back and held the pipe. She calculated the timing of opening the flamethrower and deactivating the barrier.

Taking a deep breath, she stopped the supply of mana to her ring, deactivating the protection barrier and at the same time, the pipe in her hands spewed out a long flame. She turned around in a circle, and a tongue of flames engulfed the Honey Bees all around her.

Those who were near her turned into ashes, leaving behind mana cores that fell on the ground and gathered into small hills. As for those a little farther away, they were also not spared either, their charcoal bodies fell after being burned, creating more black hills on the ground.

To her delight, her System Points increased at a rapid speed.

She made sure to control the flame, so as not to burn down the forest. She needed to get honey from the honeycomb later, and it wouldn't be possible if the forest was burned down.

After she killed the entire colony of Honey Bees and wanted to collect the mana cores piled into small hills, along with much heavy buzzing sound of wings than before, her danger sens kicked in. She didn't waste any time and immediately erected the mana barrier around her.

In front of her wide open eyes, with the sound of a big impact, a giant stinger almost penetrated the mana barrier. She inserted more mana into the gem of the ring and the sturdiness of the barrier increased, slowly pushing out the giant stinger.

She had killed Piranhas and Black Earth Bears before, and didn't find a Dungeon Boss among either of the monster species. She guessed it might be the Queen Bee, hiding either in the honeycomb somewhere in the forest.

She was prepared to confront it, but she didn't expect to be sneaked attacked by it.

The Queen Bee was much bigger than normal Honey Bees she killed before, almost the same size as her head, with yellow stripes on its body, long shiny wings and blood-red eyes.

After seeing all of its children being slaughtered by a strange creature, the Queen Bee was furious and tried to kill the two legged creature with one strike. But the cunning creature protected itself in a strange way, and she couldn't get closer to it anymore.

After its stinger was pushed out of the barrier, the Queen Bee kept circling Yuxi inside the barrier, waiting for a chance to strike again.

After initially being surprised, Yuxi calmed down and took off the flamethrower tank from her back. Putting it away, she raised her two hands in front of her, ready to unleash her spacial Claw Slash after getting an opportunity.

When the Queen Bee circled Yuxi once again, its flight put a certain distance between it and Yuxi. After seeing the opportunity she was waiting for, Yuxi deactivated the barrier and made a slashing motion with her right hand curled up like a claw, at the wings of Queen Bee.

She didn't dare to take the risk and erected the barrier again without seeing the result of her attacks.

The Queen Bee who was flying in the air couldn't see the attack sent towards her, properly. Even so, its danger sense allowed her to dodge two translucent lines blindly, but the other two lines hit its left wing, cutting the extremely thin and transparent wing cleanly.

After losing balance in midair and unable to fly anymore, it fell down with a heavy thud, raising grass and loose soil in the air.

Being a D ranked monster, its body was quite sturdy, and the fall didn't injure it, but the loss of its wing made it screech in pain and anger.

The Queen Bee shook its head and used its barbed legs to walk towards Yuxi in rage but at a much slower pace than before.

Before it got closer, Yuxi who had been observing the result of her attack removed the barrier again and shot out another Claw Slash. She made sure to restrain the power of her slashes, not intending to kill the Queen Bee.

If she kills the Dungeon Boss now, she would not have enough time to collect the honey and mana cores later. So she only injured the Queen Bee and cut off its legs, making it immobile.

After she made sure that the Queen Bee was not a threat anymore, she left it there half dead and went towards the honeycomb again. She didn't know how professionals collected honey, but she thought of a way herself and acted upon it.

She bought many plastic buckets from the System Shop and put them under the honeycomb. Subsequently, she inserted the bolts in the tree trunk by using the crossbow and climbed the tree. When she reached the honeycomb, she took out the steel dagger and started cutting the honeycomb into small pieces.

The cut pieces fell down into the buckets from a height, splashing the drops of honey everywhere. Although, some honey was wasted, but it was negligible compared to the amount, she got.

Well, what can be said?

Compared to an entire honeycomb, a few drops of honey were nothing.

After cutting the entire honeycomb, she climbed down the tree and stored the buckets filled with honey in her system inventory.

What?

Did you expect her to put the honey in her space pocket along with the smelly monster corpses?

Don't be kidding.

After getting the honey, she went back to where she left the Queen Bee. The monster was lying in a pool of blood, but its tenacious nature still kept it alive. She gathered all the mana cores gathered into small hills before severing its head with a Claw Slash and collected the body.

She leisurely walked towards the exit of the dungeon and left through the dark blue portal after changing her clothes. Her previous clothes were all bloody from going into the bloody river before.

After coming out from the other side, she glanced at the dark parking lot. Everything remained the same and no disturbance occurred. She put one hand in her pant pocket and slowly came out of the parking lot.

The sky was dark, but the city had been illuminated with lights.

Just when she was considering calling a taxi, the cellphone in her jacket pocket rang.

After changing her clothes in the dungeon before, she had taken out the phone from the inventory and put it in her pocket.

She looked at the mobile interface and raised an eyebrow, it was a call from home. She picked it up and listened to the anxious voice of the Head Maid on the other side.

"I am fine, I just turned off the phone for a while."

"Okay, no need to worry. If I need protection, I will tell you in advance."

"Oh yes, send a car to pick me up." She instructed in the end and told the Head Maid her address.

After hanging up the phone, she took out a bottle of beer and poured some beer on her palm before sprinkling it on her clothes.

Even though she had changed her clothes, the smell of blood only lessened and did not go away completely. She used the beer to cover up the smell of blood temporarily to avoid the suspicion from her servants.

"The System Shop is very convenient. I can get anything, anywhere and anytime I want." She muttered to herself.
