Chapter 43: Bittersweet Victory

The two soon-to-be Alphas loom over the wolf's dead body, both having cut a large wound into his neck.

“Saving my mate is my job.” Ray says. “And it took you long enough to get here. What was the hold up?”

“More rogues showed up after you guys left. It’s not my fault I had to take care of the mess.” Gabriel huffs, then turns back to me. His eyes glimmer softly and I can feel a familial and gentle aura radiating off of him.

“Are you alright, Anna?” He says, coming up to me. “You got a few wounds, but nothing that the Silver Moons can’t handle.”

“You mean the Bloodclaws.” Ray scoffs, clutching the wound on his chest.

Gabriel shoves him. “Hey, she’s my sister. I’m trying to be the overprotective brother I’ve always wanted to be over here.”

“Sister…wait, sister?” Ray repeats, now speechless glancing between the both of us.
