Chapter 58

Dear Diary Last night I had the oddest dream.

Dreaming for me wasn't unusual. I've got a vivid imagination, and it drove my parents nuts during my younger years, especially when I went through my aliens-seeded-this-planet-and-started-humanity phase. I was convinced ETs chose monkeys and blended their DNA with them. Had to be. And I'd had this conviction before I even discovered how abnormal my own genetic strand was. Could I be of extra-terrestrial origin? An alien egg artificially inseminated with human DNA with me as the result?

My parents refuted the idea, but they also never had an answer to my actual parentage. Dinosaur? Possibly. My tail definitely screamed reptile.

But back to my dream. I was in a dark place. Think super pit of nothingness and multiply that by freaky.

Did I mention I don't like the dark?

My voice emerged with a tremor. "Hello?"

It echoed and then abruptly stopped, as if someone threw a muffling blanket over it. Not unnerving at all.
