Chapter 61

Dear Diary I have nothing to say. It's too early.

I awoke with a jolt at dawn.

Yes, fucking dawn, which this time of the year was before six. An ungodly hour. Even my dog wouldn't budge.

A coffee did help make me feel a touch more human. My shower had me sighing in pleasure. But I really woke up when I bit into the toaster strudel with the extra Betty Crocker icing. Okay, it was four strudels, and I didn't regret a single one.

My dog eventually sauntered out and left to do his business. I dressed for work. Having not received a call or email saying otherwise, I assumed I should go in.

I left Murphy with a clean toilet, water in the sink, and a rack of ribs I'd bought on sale and cooked for him last night.

No sign of my neighbor. I now began to wonder if he regretted mentioning the carpool thing and was avoiding me. I really should get a look inside his place one of these days. He was pretty high up in the company. Maybe he had some dirt.
