I gasped for some air.
'No! she didn't,' I quarreled with my brain.
'Yes, baby girl, she did and all you have to do is answer her truthfully,' my mind let out.
I knew better than to speak the truth on this case, a little truth has never done harm to anyone's ego, so it wouldn't tamper with mine.
My silence was deafening especially as I had gasped, it clearly showed that I was there but didn't just want to answer.
Mrs. Larry's rich voice filled the speaker as she chuckled. It made me feel nervous the more.
"I guess that is a hard one," she let out.
"Yes, it is," I lamented.
She laughed again, then in a firm voice she asked once more,
"Do you love him, Megan?" she pressed harder.
I knew better than to tell her the truth, in a feeble but audible voice, I whispered,
"Yes, I love Nicholas so much,"
The next thing I heard was a dead line.
