Lenora was surprised to see her husband and her brother fighting. Her brother didn't retaliate against him. She was taking a stroll in the garden with her maid Celine after her nap. Then she heard someone fighting.
Lenora would have stopped him from them. But she waited for sometime. When she was done with the fight… she said, "stop!"
"I said stop," she repeated when she saw Maximus was not stopping anymore.
It's like he was so consumed by his Werewolf rage that he doesn't want to stop beating him.
"Werewolf King! You shall stop now!" Lenora said loudly, grabbing his attention finally.
Maximus closed his eyes as he tried to calm him down. When he was done, he threw one last punch as his claws scraped Zaros skin.
"What did you just do?" Lenora asked with a face that was a mix of speechlessness, shock, and surprise.
She didn't expect this thing.
"You do realize this scratch can be fatal to a vampire with your claws right?" Lenora asked with her clenched jaw.
"It takes seven days to make him die," Maximus said as he smoothened his clothes.
"And it takes a single word to start a war. If that's the case, what's the use of me and your sister bearing all the abusal from both the dickheads like you?" Lenora asked.
"I won't let him die. I will just show him how it would be to be abused. Just because my sister is giving him a second chance I don't give him a chance. I am warning him. I know how to heal him," Maximus said with a scowl on his face.
Lenora said nothing.
"You better don't let him die," Lenora said.
"I promise on the moon goddess and nature. I won't let him die," he promised.
"Okay," Lenora replied.
"I heard you wanted to meet me. You can say it now," Lenora said in a cold detached tone.
Zaros couldn't digest that his sister was this detached. He might die but she didn't ask him how he was or how he was feeling.
"Don't you want to ask me how I feel?" Zaros asked.
"You deserve that. Between… I had this constant fear that someone might kill me everyday in the past two years. And you are a reason for it partially. And you also abused his sister. It's as clear as water. You deserve that. The only thing that keeps you alive is the pact. And he did promise me that he won't let you die. So what else do you want from me?" She asked.
Maximus: "..."
Zaros: "..."
Celine: "..."
Celine literally applauded in her mind. She wanted to yell, 'My Lady, you are savage!'
This detachment broke Zaros further. When she pointed out the things for him like clear water…. He shuddered in fear just like that.
"Oh yeah, when you gave judgment you never believed. You deserve a beating from me too. It's just that I don't see beating you as a worthy thing. As… it would only hurt my hands, fists, and waste of my energy," Lenora said after that.
"Please say whatever you wanted to say earlier," Lenora added again after a few seconds of silence.
Zaros sighed at her words. He was wrong. That was crystal clear.
"Can we sit?" Zaros asked.
Lenora just nodded her head and walked ahead before them which was simply against the rules of the royal family. But she never cares. She was known for her rebellious ways all the time.
She sat first before the men on the stone bench and already started munching the desserts.
"I got news from my men that they say Victoria roaming in the streets of music and dance academy," Zaros said.
Lenora was surprised to hear that. Not surprised but shocked. She doesn't know how to put it in words.
She hid her surprise behind her grim face and asked him with a straight face, "Do you believe it? And how do you know it?"
"My guards heard there is a woman similar to Victoria in a whore house in the streets of music and dance academy. Even the soldiers in the training were discussing that. I got people to confirm it. The signs show it's her," he said.
"For this, I will say, she is not your sister, Lenora. I wanted to say this to you after the crowning. I let my men catch her and put her in some place she wouldn't escape. She is pretending to be your sister. I interrogated her about what was up with her. She only wanted to talk to you. And claims she was at the scene on the day of murder. I wanted to make sure she is really your sister before approaching you. But things took a different turn. So, I was about to let you know about this thing after I return to our chambers. But….
".... Your brother said he needs to have a talk with me and took me here. I apologize for this," he said.
"When did you catch her?" Lenora uttered only five words that screamed danger to Maximus but he kept a straight face and replied.
"My men caught her yesterday before twilight. I met her today," he replied.
"Oh, I would like to meet her now itself," she said.
"It's twilight, in some more time it's time for the sun to rise. It will harm you. After the moon rise, we have crowning. And then we will be busy for one day and night. You can meet her later," Maximus said as he panicked slightly.
Lenora looked at him through her squinted eyes. She could see his muscles twitching and his fisted palm. It's as if he doesn't want to approach her or see her. Or more likely someone who looked like her sister. He hid a thing and revealed it just when her brother revealed it. She will not buy it if he says he caught her a day ago. She can say it was longer than that.
"I want to talk to her. Even without your presence," Lenora said.
