Ch-117
"Then why have you entertained me till now?" Lenora asked.
"Because I wanted to have one last conversation with my granddaughter," he said with a smile.
"I regret being his daughter and your granddaughter. How blind was my mother able to be?" Lenora said with hatred in her eyes.
"Well, what could I say if your bloodline is obsessed with my sons?" he laughed.
Lenora looked at him with hatred. Azazel already started reciting spells.
Maximus and Zaros stood outside the hall with anger bubbling in his chest. Even he didn't know why, but when Vrykolakas said that he killed the love of Lazarus, he wanted to rush in and kill him. But Zaros stopped him on time.
"Now is not the time. Wait," Zaros said.
Inside, Lenora tried to get up, but she was stuck to the ground as if she were under a spell. "Now, your blood and lifeline will make me strong. While your sister-in-law will be my vessel," Vrykolakas said.
Lenora could sense her mate mark was gleaming. Which meant her husband was near, she had to stall some more time and give an opening.
Earlier, when she clashed with Azazel, she gave the ring to Adira to press it when she found the chance to summon Zaros and Maximus. In the huge dust that enveloped the room, it was hard to concentrate for a few minutes. Lenora and Adira quickly took advantage of it.
Unlike Lenora, Adira couldn't keep up the act. And if she were to stay awake, she would spill the beans. So, she acted like she had fainted. When the ancient was waking up, she quickly pressed the ring. By the time, the ancients started telling the story, both Zaros and Maximus had met up to find the empty coffins. They realized that the only coffin that was left to check was the middle one. When they were halfway through the way to reach the coffin, their rings glowed towards the middle one further. They knew it was the coffin. When they reached the entrance, they heard the ancients and Lenora speaking.
Lenora have been raised by Eudora. She was well-versed in manipulating people, politics, and dealing with issues. They waited till he was done with the story and started waiting for a moment to attack.
"Why us?" Lenora asked. "Why us alone?! We are living our lives on our own! Why did you send that man!? A man who is supposed to be undead and your mysterious son! If he is yours, why was he not mentioned in any history books?" Lenora screamed like a mad woman. She looked like she had lost hope in everything.
"Why does it have to be me all the time? Why Am I the one to bear the short end of the stick!" she cried her heart out.
"Blame your ancestor, Lenora," Vrykolakas said.
"That bitchy ancestor of yours guessed my intentions of killing Lazarus. She used clairvoyance, which was her gift, and saw my son would be reborn. So, even before her death, she passed a secret on how to kill me so that it could help Lazarus in killing me! That smart bitch!" he said angrily.
"My evil energy started piling up. I know I will have to go into the coffin soon. So, I impregnated a witch. After raising him for sixteen years while suppressing my evil energy, I told him what to do and when to do it. He followed me. He made your mother fall in love with him. He has you.
"He knew Maximus was the reincarnation of Lazarus and when you were born, your horoscope exactly matched with the dead lover of Lazarus. That was when the plan started.
"But your mother had to intervene. She hid you for years. So, he tried to kill your husband. So, he sent a fake Mate, but that woman fell in love with him and killed herself. Then there was your sister, who spoiled my wake-up ritual two years ago.
"If not for your sister's interruption, I would have started ruling this world long ago!" he said.
"Not to mention… this useless son of mine got himself killed in the hands of your grandmother. That bitch knew this would happen… so she killed him. So, he took the potion I left for him to turn an undead creature in case he was dead one day." he said.
"None of your attempts to come back into this world were successful. Doesn't that mean this will not work too?" she said, raising her brows.
"Those were different. Now, everything will work out. Everything is perfect," he said.
Just then, Azazel stopped chanting the spells. "It's time to add her blood," he said, pointing to Lenora.
"I will not let you take a drop of your blood!" Lenora yelled.
Lenora was wantedly acting like a helpless one. She could have continued her act more but Zaros and Maximus were here, she couldn't delay any further. One wrong step can lead to four deaths. She can't let it happen. But she couldn't find any opening. Gathering all her strength, she gathered some energy in her hands and threw it at Azazel, taking him by surprise. His spell should have made her helpless but instead she used energy, which surprised him. Even Vrykolakas was surprised.
When they were caught in the surprise, Maximus and Zaros entered the room.
Maximus and Zaros stormed into the chamber, their weapons drawn and their eyes ablaze with determination. Azazel and Vrykolakas turned to face them, their expressions shifting from arrogance to grim resolve as they prepared for battle.
With a fierce battle cry, Maximus charged at Azazel, his sword gleaming in the dim light. Azazel responded with a flurry of dark energy, hurling bolts of shadowy magic at his oncoming foe. Maximus deftly dodged and parried, his movements fluid and precise, as he closed the distance between them.
Meanwhile, Zaros squared off against Vrykolakas, his muscles tensed and his mind focused. Knowing that direct confrontation with the ancient vampire would be perilous, Zaros relied on his strength and agility, darting in and out of Vrykolakas's reach while seeking an opportunity to strike.
As the battle raged on, Lenora broke free from her spell-bound state, her eyes blazing with determination. Though she lacked the ability to cast spells herself, her expertise in combat and her resourcefulness made her a formidable ally.
The array was weakened due to the blood of Azazel's lackey earlier. Not to mention Lenora's energy was filled with purity, while Azazel's was filled with evil. Lenora was trying to weaken the array with her pure energy. She remembered how to de-spell the dark spells like these from the books she read. She was glad she didn't waste time back then.
With coordinated strikes and strategic maneuvers, Maximus, Zaros, and Lenora fought fiercely against their adversaries. Swords clashed, claws slashed, and magic crackled through the air as the combatants vied for dominance in the chamber. But soon Lenora was drained and settled back with Adira.
Despite their opponents' dark powers and centuries of experience, Maximus and Zaros fought with unmatched skill and determination. Each blow they landed brought them closer to victory, driving back their foes with relentless force.
In a decisive moment, Maximus and Zaros launched a coordinated assault, their attacks combining in a devastating flurry of blows. With a mighty roar, they struck down their adversaries, their weapons finding their mark with deadly precision.
No matter how long they clashed, they couldn't kill them. Lenora and Adira could see that both men were getting tired and could not last longer.
Adira, who feigned fainting, moved towards Lenora.
