Party

Diana sat in front of her vanity while professional makeup artists were performing their magic on her face. Their concept was to give her a natural look, 'simple yet elegant.

She kept looking at the reflection of the dress through the mirror, she couldn't just keep her eyes off it. The dress was placed on a mannequin and everyone could see that the dress was just perfect and Diana wearing it will make it even more perfect.

The gown was a long, black, see-through dress with long hands. It was made in such a way that it had a very long opening along the cleavage down to the upper part of the navel, exposing the middle sides of both breasts. From the stomach upwards it was tight, while it was flared from the waist downwards and came to form a wide circle around the mannequin on the floor.

Other things Diana was in awe of were the pieces of jewelry it came with and the pair of shoes.

It came with a pair of earrings, a necklace, and a five-inch shoe. The pieces of jewelry and shoes were embedded with precious stones. The earrings were pea-sized round stud earrings, the necklace consisted of a thick silver chain with a diamond-like pendant that contained precious stones which seemed to be floating in it, while it was just an illusion. The shoe was like any normal heel, just that little tiny precious stones were laying on every open surface of the shoe giving it a rough edge. The only sad thing about the shoe was that Diana wouldn't be able to show it off, as the dress would cover the shoe wholly lest she lifts it well so that one could get a glimpse of the shoe.

Nicky, the head make-up artist sighed as he looked at his finished work of art on Diana's face. "I can't believe I did this," he said with a dramatic squeal, typical of a feminine gay. "You can turn any gay man straight gurl, but not me cause I'm sure I'm almost as pretty as you," he said with a flip of his hair. Diana chuckled at his words but she couldn't stop staring at her image in the mirror. The eyeshadow was smoky with a color matching that of her dress, while her lips held a tint of lip gloss. She knew she was pretty but this was a different kind of beauty on her part.

Just while she was admiring herself in the mirror, her father strode into the room. Quite loudly at that. "I want to have a word with my daughter so can you and your minions please leave," Mr. Sylvester said with a tinge of rudeness laced in his gruff voice. Nicky left with a fearful bow and his other companions followed suit.

"Well, I sure do have a beautiful daughter, don't I?" Mr. Sylvester asked no one in particular as he held Diana's cheeks with both hands. Diana glared at him ruefully before saying;

"You don't have to pretend with me, I already know what you want. I won't misbehave, you can rest assured."

Mr. Sylvester smiled at her words. "It's good I don't need to say much for you to understand my intentions, I shall leave so that you'll get fully ready". He placed his hands on his back as hummed and walked out of her room.

Diana arrived in a BMW car, at the hotel where the party was being held. As soon as she stepped her foot on the floor different reporters were already swarming her making it difficult for her to get off the car. The reporters were in awe as soon as they saw Diana's face and dress. The cameras started working their wonders as the reporters started clicking tons of pictures to upload online. Diana guessed it's because she's been away for a long that the reporters asked her questions like,

"Who are you? Which family are you from? we haven't seen you in any articles?, are you from here? Are you one of those successful people that like to hide their identity like Mr. Fisher?"

The questions kept piling and Diana didn't bother to answer. They'll know her either way because Mr. Sylvester will make sure everyone knows about the arrival of his daughter. Speaking of her father, Diana wondered where he went, he was just in the car a while ago.

She can't just walk into the party with no identity. She waited a little while before Mr. Sylvester appeared.

They walked hand in hand into the event with Diana wishing they could go their separate ways. M..r Sylvester just decided to bathe himself in perfume, and that was choking Diana at the same time making her nose itch. 'Not that he could hide the stench that oozes out of him even if he bathes in the most expensive perfume', Diana thought to herself while sneering.

Just as Diana imagined, many heads were turned by her arrival. She looked like a princess straight out of a fairytale. Everyone wondered who she was, but there was no need to tell that it was from her mother her beauty originated because in no way did she bear any resemblance to the fat, bald man walking hand in hand with her. She walked with elegance as she held her head up high. Diana was quite confident in her beauty.

As they walked, many, especially the young men, wished Mr. Sylvester could come out of the picture immediately as he was not fitting beside beautiful Diana. Mr. Sylvester then went ahead to introduce Diana to families who had outstanding backgrounds, and of course, young heirs.

Most of them praised Diana for her beauty and elegance and were matchmaking her already with their sons. It came out as a joke where everyone laughed, but Diana knew it was only a while before one of those many jokes turns into reality. It took a while before Diana was left to wander on her own. After rounds of introduction to over twenty families, Diana needed a drink.

Just then, a waiter passed with a tray of juice. Diana sighed in relief because she has a very bad tolerance for alcohol. She took a sip of the juice and as she was about to take another she saw a man coming in her direction. She knew this would happen, she had already braced herself and prepared a very appealing 'fake smile'.

"Hallo Schöne", the guy said to Diana as he held his glass of wine in one hand and the other hand in his trouser pocket.

"Hello," Diana responded. She was surprised, he spoke German to her. 'hallo Schöne' meant 'hello beautiful' in English. She was quite pleased with his appearance as well. Tall, a little tanned with his blonde hair slicked back, and a cluster of strands coming to lay at his forehead. Diana didn't bother to scrutinize his facial features but she knew he was handsome.

He didn't bother to dress formally like other young men around, he wore a leather jacket to a formal party. That spoke volumes about the kind of guy he was. He looked like a f**k boy and that's not the kind of husband she needs, this one will cheat on her a dozen times that she fears he may assault her if told to stop. Yes, Diana knows why she's here, hence weighing any guy that shows interest in her. She's looking for a husband material and this guy is not it.

"Do you want to continue the conversation in German or do you prefer English", the guy said earning a chuckle from Diana.

"Let's continue in English", she replied. She wasn't that good at German anyway.

"Bad manners, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Philip Brookes", he said as he took his hand out for a handshake.

"I'm Diana Garcia" Diana replied as she returned the handshake. The two went on to talk about seemingly random things with Diana loving Philip's vibe as time went on.

Seems like she's a bad judge of character as this guy seems just fine to her, just a little bit of him flirting from time to time which she didn't mind. They exchanged numbers while making plans to meet up next week. `When` is what they'll communicate to each other.

Philip went to meet some of his friends in his circle and Diana was left all alone again. Just as she was feeling the loss of Philip's presence she saw the twins at the corner. Seems like they attracted a lot of guys as well. Paula was talking to a certain guy of average height if she saw correctly, while Pauline looked so uninterested in the guy she was talking to. Diana waited for them to finish talking so she could go meet them but plans changed after she saw a certain lanky guy walking her way.

She held her juice in one hand and her gown in the other and walked towards the twins not minding if she'll be intruding. She didn't want to talk to anybody from the opposite gender right now. Different gazes followed her as she walked. While some were the jealous gazes of ladies, others were the lustful gaze of men. The twins saw Diana walking toward them and they quickly excused themselves to go meet her.

Pauline has been watching Diana's every move. She thought that by taking the dress Diana won't be able to outshine her, that she won't be a shadow of Diana, and won't have to feel insecure, but she was wrong. Her plan backfired as Diana did not only get a better dress, she looked otherworldly beautiful. She saw how everyone was fawning over her and she hates to admit it, but she is jealous.

Seeing her from up close made her even more jealous because now she felt like a shadow of Diana as almost everyone's gaze was on only her as they were talking. She was jealous of her friend and she knows it. Jealous friends are the worse and she's afraid of where this jealousy will lead her too.

Paula was all giddy while telling Diana how beautiful she was and how she turned heads wherever she passed. Diana was also complementing the twins on their looks as well. "Who were those guys you were talking to?" Diana asked as she got into gossip mode.

"He's just one of the men who wanted to get to know me more," Paula said as she was also ready to fill Diana with all the juicy happenings of today. Pauline just watched their exchange while smiling throughout so that they won't feel anything off about her mood.

Just then Clark walked up to the podium to address the guests.

"Good day ladies and gentlemen. Most of us here are from the business sector so I doubt I'll need to do any introduction" He paused then continued

"The essence of this gathering is to help businessmen meet other able businessmen to help strengthen their relationships and share business ideas. More like creating alliances. The Fisher group has decided to give out five partnership opportunities to different companies whom Mr. Fisher will handpick himself while reviewing their different business ideas". This information made the businessmen present gasp out loud.

While the Fisher company is well known, it takes a lot of effort and different unique ideas to gain a contract partnership from them. This made anyone they worked with be awarded respect and regard in the world of business as it takes only great and smart businessmen the privilege to work with the Fisher Corp.

Clark waited for the side murmurs to disperse before continuing with his address.

"With all these said I'll like you guys to welcome, Mr. Skylar Fisher".
