Iris's Parents

After thinking about it for a while, Ronald had a question in mind that'll be able to determine if Iris was really a transmigrator or not.

"Iris, what's that necklace that's hanging around your neck right now?"

It may sound like a simple question, but there was a lot of thought that Ronald had put into this question.

In the original novel, it was said that Iris had always believed that her parents were killed because of a homicide and that the killers didn't find her, and someone else had found her alone outside and brought her to an orphanage.

Of course, that wasn't the actual case though.

Iris's parents were actually still alive and they were also considered villains in the novel.

Unlike Ronald, who was only considered a minor villain in the novel whose sole purpose was to just help Ye Fan show off his power infront of everyone, Iris's parents were considered intermediate or mid-level villains.

Although Ronald had never joined forces with them and only worked with other minor villains for the sake of the plot, he has interacted with them outside of the plot a few times before.

Since they were all in the same camp as villains together, they were all friendly with each other, and Ronald even considered them to be his friends despite the age difference.

That's right, most of the villains in this story, no matter how messed up in the head they are, typically all got along with each other besides a select few.

From the few interactions he had with them, he realized that they originally had a daughter, but decided to abandon her as they didn't want to take care of her.

They had originally wanted a boy in their family instead of a girl so that their family could thrive and for the boy to become the next successor of the family.

But even though they had abandoned the girl and left her at an orphanage, they still decided to leave her a necklace that had a one word carved on the side for the girl.

As for the reason why?

Well Ronald doesn't know it either.

However, after Ronald had heard about that, he asked what the necklace looked like and what the engraved word was, in which they had told him it was a glossy golden locket necklace with a picture of both them back in their early 20s, with the word Iris engraved on the back of the locket as that was what they had named their child before abandoning her.

That was when Ronald came to the realization that the ones infront of him were actually Iris's parents.

Well anyways, the reason why Ronald had asked this question to Iris was because it was never mentioned in the original novel that she even wore a necklace around her neck at all times, let alone even adored it.

But from the times he's stayed with Iris in his previous life due to the plot, he could tell that although Iris didn't really care about anything in the world, there was 2 things that Iris absolutely cherished.

The first is well, obviously Ye Fan.

And the second being the necklace.

Ronald knew that Iris had completely cherished this necklace because she knew that it was the only thing that her family had left her before they had gone missing.

Of course for the sake of the plot, and the fact that he didn't really hold any good feelings for Iris to begin with, he decided to just keep his interactions with her parents a secret.

So if Iris can't explain how or where she got it from, he'll know that the current Iris isn't the original Iris anymore.

"Young Master, I was originally raised at an orphanage throughout my entire life without seeing my parents at all besides a picture they had left for me, so I don't even know what they look like, but the caretaker at the orphanage told me that she had seen this necklace wrapped around my neck before she took me in."

'...' Ronald had a concerned look on his face.

"It's okay Young Master Kuangge, even though I don't know what exactly happened to my parents, it's not really any of my concerns anymore." Iris saw the concerned look on Ronald's face and knew that he really cared for her.

Even though she still somewhat cared about what happened to the disappearance of her parents, she valued Ronald much more to the point where she would rather spend her time with him instead of digging out what had actually happened to her family.

Besides, she didn't want Ronald to be worried for her, Ronald's happiness is her happiness after all.

Ronald wasn't concerned about that though, he was more concerned about the fact that his theory of the heroines being a transmigrators might've be wrong.

"Okay whatever, You'll become my personal maid from now on, so you'll have to take care of all of my personal needs, also whenever I call you to come over, no matter what you're doing, you must be ready to attend to me at all times. Do I make myself clear?" Ronald had to explain to Iris what she need to do as his personal maid as he knew that she was a killer before, and even though she was originally tasked by Ye Fan to stay by his side, she still had to look like a proper maid in order to not ruin her facade.

"Yes, Young Master Kuangge." Iris respectfully kneeled down like a knight kneeling down before a princess.

"Okay, you may leave now."

After watching Iris exit his room, Ronald heavily sighed and decided that he had to hopelessly ask the system once again.

'Great, back to square one...'

'It's only been two fucking days since I've regressed back and yet I'm already too tired for this bullshit.'

'The system better not spew any shit this time.'
