Chapter 105- Wizards Renovating Houses!

------------------------------------

"Well," I begin, looking around. "This is the biggest shithole I have ever seen." I finish, my hands on my hips as I look around at the land before me, the brisk wind blowing harshly, the breeze throwing my hair back. Overall, it's a pleasant atmosphere, but the sight before me just doesn't fit at all. "Yeah, the whole place was destroyed during the war, and all that's left is ruins. We managed to get our hands on it as it was a stupid idiot Pureblood who thought he could take our money and run. He didn't read the contract, and now we have everything he had, which isn't much. He negotiated to keep his magic and handed everything over." Andromeda answered, standing beside me in a large overcoat.

Having gotten a complete look at the property, I walk closer to the burnt-down husk of what used to be a no doubt tremendous mansion. Probably a full-on estate, given the dilapidated fencing around the area and the overgrown bushes and greenery. Looking at a burnt brick wall, I give it a light kick and watch as the wall completely breaks down, the bricks clattering down and soot whooshing up through the air. Once the dust settles, I am stood covered entirely in black, but I sort that out with a quick wave of my wand and walk back to Andromeda like nothing even happened.

"So, what are you going to do with the place. Keep in mind we've got seven other properties to visit." Andromeda asks, looking down at a checklist and looking through some papers. Whatever is on it looks complicated, so of course, I ignore it and let her handle it. Now, back to her question: what to do with this place? "Hmmmmm, what to do indeed? It has good bones." I put a finger to my chin in thought as I gaze at the property before me, ideas flitting through my head. I have a lot of thoughts on what to do here, and it's hard to actually decide on just one.

"Good bones? What the fuck does that even mean?" Andromeda says, cursing, which isn't something she usually does, especially in a professional circumstance. Glancing at her, I notice she is shivering and must be very cold and, therefore, frustrated. I swish my wand and put a warming charm on her, something she appreciates, but doesn't thank me for, resuming her frosty attitude. "I don't know what it means, Andromeda. I just don't know." I reply, looking at the building once more with a considering look, my eyes envisioning other things in its place. I feel just like that kid playing Minecraft again, except instead of painstakingly placing every block, I can just magic things into being.

Andromeda sighs. "...Alright, so what are we doing here? What about the other properties? I do have other work to get done today, Gilderoy. I don't have all day." Giving the irate woman a glance, I quickly look away, not wanting to make the woman more irate. It's weird; she's not hot and cold, but she is tepid and cold, and it throws me off balance. Like she's angry at me, but she sometimes forgets. It's best not to bother her further, I don't want to lose my best employee, because then I would have to work.

"What are the other properties?" I ask because depending on if there are any other big lands going, I might decide to take or leave this piece of property. "The rest are storefronts and small buildings all over the place. This is the biggest piece we have, but it's also the one that needs the most work." Hearing that pretty much confirms what I am going to be doing with my time now, and it is not going to have anything to do with those small-time ventures that are much too little to require my oversight.

"Alright, here's what we are going to do. You can handle all those other properties, do whatever you want with them, just don't sell them. Use them for ourselves, rent them out, or do whatever. I'm sure you'll figure out a way to profit off of them; just don't sell them. We are in the process of becoming a conglomerate here; we need our hand in and on as many pies as we can get." Wizarding Wealth Advisors is becoming much more than what it says on the tin; the name is just to get them through the door. Once they are in, they will either profit together with us or they will give us everything they have; there is no in-between. Well, maybe there is, I don't know, Andromeda handles all of that.

"And? What will you be doing here?" Andromeda asks as she puts away her clipboard, happy to finally be going from here and getting on her work, but also curious about what I am going to be doing here. Or perhaps concerned, as it does affect her in the end. "I will be renovating this whole place and turning it into a mansion, no, a hotel. A resort. Honestly, I'm still undecided on what it will be in the end, but we'll decide after the place is done.

"Okay, well, make sure to tell me when you give up, and I can come and fix whatever you have done," Andromeda says as she turns around, away from me and the burnt-down house. I turn to look at her, affronted that she would even think I could start something and then quit on it, and then even come crying to her for help. "Now, hold on a minute, lady-" There is a crack of sound, and then she is no longer there, having apparated away. That bitch, she just insulted me and left like a boss bitch. What a woman. Anyway, now it's time to work on this estate.

Looking at it, I see that this is going to take a lot of work. "I'll start tomorrow, fresh. Today's my last day of fun, and then tomorrow, I'll be serious." And with that I apparate away, going to meet up with a friend.

------------------------------------

A week later, I stood at the edge of the cliff, the brisk sea breeze tousling my hair as I gazed upon my latest acquisition: Lockhart Manor. No, naming it after yourself is a bit gauche, but how about Cliffside Manor? This place was once a magnificent estate overlooking the roaring ocean below, it had now succumbed to the ravages of time and fire, looking more like a place for squatters and druggies. Cracked windows, overgrown vines, and a whole lot of burnt stuff, including the ground which has still not grown much grass back. Definitely a magical fire from Death Eaters, I don't know how those vines have grown, but they have, with dangerous-looking thorns; I'll have to be careful with that.

But even with all this damage, I couldn't help but see incredible potential just waiting to be unleashed here, my imagination working overtime and envisioning incredible things. I don't even care about making money; I just want to make something awesome that will make people stop and stare. I adjusted my robes with a dramatic flourish, feeling the thrill of transformation coursing through me. "This shall be my masterpiece," I declared grandiosely, no one around to hear it as it was more of a declaration to myself. Andromeda doesn't believe I can actually do it, and taking a week off only helped her think so, but that only fueled my determination further.

"Well, let's start with the easiest and most convenient magic, and then we can see where we can go from there," I said, brandishing my wand with great anticipation. "Reparo!" I intoned, powering the spell with the intensity of my voice, which was echoing off the cliffside. Instantly, the shattered windows began to reassemble themselves, the twinkling glass returning to its rightful place. A grin spread across my face as I watched it happening, amazed that after a decade, the spell was still working, bringing the place back together. It was proof of concept, and I was going to push this place to the limit with my magic. Still, the overpowered Reparo seems to have done the brunt of the work, bringing this place back together, with walls coming back up, roofs appearing, and doors reattaching themselves. This is just the beginning; the place seems to at least be back in working order, but I am going to improve on it.

Deciding to go inside and see just how much of an effect my repair spell had had, I stepped inside the manor, the air thick with dust and the musty smell of neglect and smoke. The grand foyer stretched out before me like a neglected painting, the marble floor hidden beneath layers of grime and ash. Just because my spell fixed everything back together doesn't mean it will look good; they have been here collecting dirt for over a decade. Ah, the grand staircase. Just wait until it is polished and shining, multiple people staring at it in admiration.

Every place that is grand and luxurious needs a kickass entranceway with those big ass stairs that are two separate ones that join in the middle. I wave my wand to conjure a powerful cleaning charm. With a few well-placed words, I let loose a stream of warm, magical water that glided across the floor, effortlessly washing away years of dirt and grime. The air stirred with energy as the enchanted water gleamed, revealing the intricate marbling underneath. I then vanished all of the water and grime as well; I could have done that first, but then it wouldn't really feel clean to me; I needed to see it being washed away instead of just vanishing.

Soon, the staircase appeared, its once-sticky bannister now shimmering like polished silver. I stepped back, admiring the transformation, when I heard a soft rustle behind me. Turning, I found a dusty old portrait of a woman with flowing raven-black hair. My Reparo must have put it back on the wall, but it just fell down. Looking at it, I realise what it is. A magical portrait that once resided in this place, but even though I have put it back together, the magic making it function is no longer there, and so it is just a normal painting now. "Ah, a beauty of the past," I mused, talking to it even though it could no longer talk back. "Don't worry, I will restore your home. In fact, I will make it better than ever before." I took a moment to admire the detail in the artwork, lamenting that the woman was no doubt dead before placing her back on the wall.

With determination bubbling inside me, I began a more ambitious project: the great dining hall. The vast room had long been unused, the grand table buried beneath layers of dust and ash whilst cobwebs hung from the chandeliers and ceiling, though the strands were broken as everything had been moved around in the repair. This required more than mere cleanliness; it needed magic. So it's a good thing that I didn't just spend that week off slacking off; I also used it to learn as much magic as I could about making things, building, repairing and improving. I cast a spell I had learned that week, and it emanated a shimmering aura throughout the room.

In response, the dusty air shimmered like a mirage, and suddenly, the table was resurrected in all its glory, with lavish table settings and masterfully embroidered tablecloths unfurling like flags in a proud parade. The chairs themselves were like works of art, and the designs looked mesmerising. Golden chandeliers returned to their place, adorned with crystals that glinted like stars. The thrill of my work was intoxicating, watching everything come back and then improving on it, but I wasn't done yet. I spruced up the room a bit more, and then I wandered into the library, a room that had once housed countless tomes of knowledge but had decayed into a disarray of dishevelled books and cracked shelves. Look at all this free knowledge; let's put some order into this chaos.

I readied my wand and waved it at the shelves. I commanded them, and with a whoosh, sturdy oak shelves materialised against the walls, their finish flawless. Then, waving my wand in intricate patterns, I summoned books from across the room, each floating into place with a soft thud, organising themselves by subject as if guided by an invisible hand. The warm, inviting aroma of aged parchment filled the air, and my eyes sparkled with delight. I'll be sure to look through all these books later for anything interesting. You know, all of this has been really easy so far. Perhaps the intention and belief theory is very true, and I can do this because I believe magic has no limits, and others can't because it isn't feasible for them. Either way, I will continue.

And so I spent hours working on the building, labouring as I poured my heart into every corner of the mansion, unearthing its long-neglected charm. Every hour or so I would stand on the balcony overlooking the crashing waves, feeling invigorated by the ocean air against my face, a feeling like no other and envisioning the people that would come and behold the magnificence of my creation. Then, once it became evening and the sun started to set while examining the forgotten corners of the manor, I stumbled upon the attic—a dusty treasure trove filled with remnants of the past. As I pushed open the creaky door, I was met with a billowy cloud of dust. Through the haze, my eyes landed on a dusty trunk that seemed to radiate a faint glow.

"Now, what do we have here?" I wondered aloud. With a flick of my wrist, I unlocked the trunk, revealing a collection of enchanted items—a tarnished mirror, a delicate silk scarf, and a brass music box. Each held a piece of the manor's history, begging to be included in my grand renovation plans. The music box, in particular, caught my attention. I pressed its intricate latch, and a soft, joyous melody began to play. As the notes drifted through the attic, I noticed the atmosphere around me shift. The dust particles danced in rhythm, and I could almost hear cheerful whispers surrounding me, urging me to dance and make merry. No doubt this would be great for parties. I was eager to include these items imbued with the manor's history in my project, making them part of this place for the future.

I had a grand vision for Cliffside Manor: to transform it into a luxury resort that would become the talking point of the whole of Britain, people coming from around the world to relax here. I want people to step through the ornate doors and see nothing but opulence and elegance that overwhelmed them. With my new direction of what I wanted this place to be, I had to start from the outside in again, as this changed everything. I set to work on the exterior, enchanting the gardens that surrounded the manor.

I want people to find themselves so amazed by the gardens that it would take them an hour just to check in and make it to the reception. With a wave of my wand, I made vibrant flowers bloom in a dazzling array of colours, their sweet fragrances wafting through the air. Sculpted hedges took on artistic forms, and a shimmering fountain danced with water as if caught in a spell of joy. I also made a maze to the side out of hedges that I would get around to enchanting later to make a genuinely challenging maze. I'm not an expert, but I can lay some groundwork and then get Andromeda to bring in professionals to expand on what I've done and make it better.

Turning my gaze to the inside of the manor, I reimagined every room with a touch of magic, but in the end, there was only so much I could do by myself, and I turned to Andromeda to bring in help. And with that, there was no stopping us. We expanded the building and made it bigger than ever. In the grand ballroom, I replaced the old chandeliers with ones that sparkled like diamonds, casting a warm light over the polished marble floors. Luxurious drapes in rich, jewel tones framed the tall windows, allowing the moonlight to spill into the room like liquid silver.

The guest rooms were redesigned for the utmost comfort. Each room featured enchanted beds that adjusted to the perfect firmness and pillows that cradled guests in blissful sleep. Charming views of the gardens were made accessible through magically enhanced windows that could be opened with just a thought, bringing in gentle breezes and the soothing sounds of nature. I didn't forget about the amenities. I conjured a grand spa, complete with pools of warm, bubbling water infused with soothing herbs, and added a gourmet kitchen where talented chefs could create exquisite meals using ingredients magically sourced from my enchanted garden. That's right; the help brought in magical plants as well, and we even set up some greenhouses to grow our own fresh food.

As the grand opening approached, I made sure every detail was perfect. I enchanted the dining room to transform the atmosphere based on the mood of the guests—whether it was a romantic dinner under candlelight or a festive feast with vibrant decorations changing with the seasons. Finally, I set about organising an extravagant launch party to celebrate the transformation. Well, I was celebrating the creation of this place; everybody else would be coming to a work convention. What do you call those things? Anyway, it would be a work event for all the people in my company, and others would be invited as well. A mixer? A place to socialise and drum up new business. This time, I would be hoping for some Pureblood lords so I can take all their assets as well.

Tonight's the night, and a lot of important people will be coming.
