A TRAGIC ACCIDENT.

Groceries for his mom whiles returning from school; but she was nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile, Charlotte was at Steve's house and cooking his meal. She tidied up the place not allowing her condition to hinder her.

In the evening Steve returned. He changed into a regular shirt and had dinner with Charlotte before she left.

Billy's mom came back only to find Billy deeply snoring. Giving Billy a kiss on the forehead, she covered him up with a blanket.

Billy as usual woke up early continuedwith his paper route. He was a bit tired yet did his best to not arrive late.

He went to the notice board and searched through the endless list for his class since he was running late for the lesson. When he found it, he sped like a Mercedes Benz to his class.

Whiles cutting into the corner to his left, he collided into someone.

They both fell down with Billy on top of her.

Billy lied on top of her and admired her beauty.

She had a wide, round face with a pointed chin. She was light-skinned with rosy cheeks and had a straight blonde hair and almond-shaped dark blue eyes with dark eye lashes.

"Can you get off me, please?"

"I am so sorry, my bad."

Billy got up and gave her a hand to lift her on her feet. Billy stood there like a lap dog starred at her hourglass figure. He started daydreaming of taking a ride with her across town on his bicycle and both of them laughing and enjoying each others company. However, he was soon brought back to reality.

"You should watch where you are going next time." She said to him whiles picking up her books from the ground.

"Yeah you are right. I will certainly do that." Billy said with a smile on his face.

The girl's eye contact was literally enough to turn Billy into a dumb puppet.

"Excuse me." She said with intense look in her eyes which caused Billy to start sweating profusely.

"Excuse...you for...what?" Billy asked nervously.

"You are in my way." She replied coldly.

"Oh sorry, my bad."

Billy felt relieved as he moved out of her way. Yet he still hadn't come back to his senses and stood there staring at her as she left.

He later went to his class when she was out of sight.

When Billy got home, his mom wasn't around as usual and he had no choice but to get to his assignment.

He thought about the girl he collided into and how nervous he was around her.

"Who is she? And why was I so nervous?"

He took out his sketchbook and tried sketching her.

SOME HOURS LATER.

His mom returned only to find him snoring again with his sketch book on his chest.

She tiredly sat on the bed and watched her son witha broad smile.

A MONTH LATER.

Billy and his mom were finally at peace. They spent time mostly talking and laughing. Charlotte felt so happy that she and her son wouldn't suffer anymore. Billy also enjoyed the time they spent together since he didn't have to stop by the abandoned building to unleash his sorrow.

However, the peace was only at Billy's house, and school had it own peace busters.

Billy was picking up his books for the day from his locker when someone slammed it shut.

Bang!

When he turned, it was none other than Chris' trio and their faces didn't show they were in the mood to talk.

"What do you guys want?"

They didn't say anything but burst into laughter.

"Come on then." Billy quickly stood in a fighting stance.

Before he realized, one of the trios had leapt high in the air with a clenched fist.

Before he could react, Billy was jabbed in the face which brought him to a knee as he bounced off his locker.

The trios immediately took advantage and charged in like hungry wolves. Billy just lied on the ground trying to prevent injuries to the face.

"Stop it." A voice cried out.

The trios immediately halted at the female's voice.

She seemed to be a big shot or something because Chris' trio backed away when she attended to Billy.

She gave Billy a hand which caused him to smile

towards her. She was the same girl Billy bumped into a while back.

"Thanks."

"I don't need your appreciation." A cold response was launched right at Billy.

"You don't have to be harsh about it."

"Just take care of yourself and stay out of trouble."

"Can't I at least know your name, Wonder woman."

She chuckled at Billy's joke.

"You are funny."

She walked away and said nothing with Billy following her.

"Would you stop following me?"

"Not until you tell me your name."

"Don't you have a class or somewhere else to be than following me around?"

"Just let tell me your name, please."

She ignored Billy and was about to leave when Billy grabbed her by the hand;

"I am not letting you go until I get to know your name."

"Do you promise to stop following me after I tell you?"

"I promise."

"Fine, my name is Lo…"

She was about to tell Billy her name when someone grabbed Billy by the shoulder.

It was Chris and he didn't look happy.

"Get your fucking hands off, my girl."

Billy was shocked yet he reluctantly released his hand and watched as Chris walked away with the girl of his dreams.

Chris turned towards Billy and gave him a cold stare. Billy understood the warning but for some reason he felt more attached to Chris' girlfriend.

One evening whiles Billy was snoring, thre was a loud scream and the sound of a stick being smashed into someone's head. At first Bily didn't take them seriously since he was very sleepy.

Later, it dawned on him that it could be a sign of great danger.

He got up and ran downstairs.

That was when his worse nightmare came through. His mom was lying on the floor unconscious and bleeding from the head.

Whatever happened was unknown.

"Could it be robbers?"

Billy went to her aid and tried to wake her up.

"Mom, please wake up, you can't die on me. SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE, I NEED HELP! MY MOM IS DYING."

All these cries from Billy couldn't even get a single neighbor out to help.

Charlotte was dying and was losing blood.

Billy tried to carry her but she was too heavy for him. All hope was lost.

Luckily, Steve was taking stroll near Billy's neighborhoods and heard the distress call.

He rushed towards Billy's house and inquired what happened whiles attending to Charlotte.

"It's my mom; I just woke up and found her unconscious in the hallway. She's losing blood."

Steve eyes glanced upon a broken walking stick and beside Billy's mom.

"Charlotte." Steve called out and immediately attended to her.

Steve quickly phoned for an ambulance.

Looking into Billy's eyes, Steve said to him:

"It is alright, she is going to be okay."

Billy nodded as he cried.

The ambulance arrived in less than ten minutes and took Billy's mom to the hospital with Billy following behind in Steve's car.

After a while of anxiously waiting to find out about Charlotte's condition, the doctor came out and Steve immediately inquired about how she was doing.

"Her condition is critical, she lost lots of blood. I think a donation will help with this. "

"She is my mother I can donate." Billy quickly interrupted. The doctor looked at Billy closely and said:

"I don't think…you are fit to donate…son, I am sorry."

"What the hell! I am not a kid, I am 16."

Steve tapped Billy on the shoulder and said:

"It's fine; she is going to be ok. I got this."

Turning to the doctor, he smiled and said:

"What about me? Let me go and see if I am her blood type."

"Ok, come with me then, Mr. Harvey."

"Oh, my name isn't Harvey. I am Steve."

"Then who is Mr. Harvey?"

Billy signed and looking down, he said in shame:

"He is my dad."

"Where is he then?" Steve asked but was told by the doctor that they had to hurry.

Billy felt ashamed of his dad and himself which caused him to cry.

"God please save my mom." Billy prayed.

After they went for the check-up, it was verified that Steve was her match, A+

So, Steve donated blood for Charlotte and whiles lying beside her, he thought about the first day they met.

[How may I help you?"

"Errr…I am looking for work, please if there is anything I could do to help you around the house I can do it. I can clean and cook or…"

"It's alright, please come in."

"Thanks."]

[I didn't even get your name."

"Charlotte."]

Then he thought about her short hair and big black eyes and a mouth that deserved kissing.

"Charlotte. Who could have done this to you? I promise I would get to the bottom of this. It just hurts seeing you like this." Steve promised within his heart.

Billy's mom was now out of danger and when Billy heard the news, he was so escatic that he hugged Steve.

This reminded Steve of Charlotte's reaction when he offered her a job at his house.

"Thanks for saving my mom."

Steve smiled and said:

"You are a very brave lad. If it weren't for you Charlotte would have died, so thank you."

Steve after saying this hugged Billy tightly.

Billy smiled and felt comforted.

"How do you know my mom?" Billy asked after they stopped hugging.

This caused Steve to smile and said:

"Don't worry; I will let you know everything for later. Let's not ruin this moment."

They were later told that she had regained consciousness and was finally awake.

Billy inquired if he could go visit her.

"Thank God, you are finally ok. I thought you were going to leave me."

Billy ran and hugged his mom after he said this.

Hugging her tightly, he said:

"I don't want you to go, I don't ever want to lose you, mom."

Charlotte cried and laughed at the same time.

"Don't you ever think like that? I promise I won't ever leave you no matter what happens."

The doctor came in shortly afterwards.

"I am glad you are ok now. But you have to stay here a while for treatment before you are discharged."

Looking at Billy who was sitting near his mom on the bed made the doctor smile.

"You have a brave and loving son, Mrs. Harvey, you must be proud of him."

This made Charlotte hug her son even more.

"You don't have to give me all the credit. In fact you should be thanking Steve right instead."

Charlotte was in shock and couldn't believe it. "Steve is here?"

Steve appeared at the door and was relieved to see her in good shape. He walked up to Billy and said:

"I want you to promise me something."

"Okay, what is it?"

"Promise me that you are going to take good care of your mom. Would you do that for me, please."

"Y…Yesss! I will."

Turning to Charlotte, he moved her hand slowly and caressed her hair.

"I have to go now. I am glad you are okay."

He was about to leave when Charlotte called him by name. He turned with a smile on his face.

"Thanks for your help, Steve."

They both stared into each other eyes for a long time and smiled. Steve took his leave shortly after he bid everyone goodbye.

When he got home, he sat down on his couch and phoned his close friend.

"Hello Steve. It's been a while. What gives?"

"Ray, I need you to do me a favor."

"Go on, I am listening."
