Carlin shut his eyes thinking the scene was about to get bloody.
The four boys in front of him were quite formidable. Even the school authorities couldn't do anything about it.
The sound of bone cracking filled the air. After three minutes of silence, Carlin opened his eyes expecting to see a pityful sight but was met with a smiley face.
Shocked, he glanced at the four boys lying lifeless on the ground who all seemed to have gone unconscious.
Damon circles excitedly around Carlin. Although the boy wasn't cute as him, screw that, he was cuter than him, he was happy to have found a friend.
"Hello, I'm Damon Romeo" he introduced getting still.
Carlin stared meekly at him, then said: "I'm Carlin Lightbolt"
"Lightbolt?" Repeating the name, Romeo laughed lightly. "sorry about that, it's just my first time hearing such a name"
Carlin nodded thoughtfully. He had gotten used to people laughing when they heard his surname.
"Come on, lesson's about to start" Damon muttered stretching his hands.
Carlin stood up staring at the bodies around him thoughtfully.
"No need to worry. I'll take care of them later" Damon reassured.
Carlin shrugged and walked out of the garden with him.
.....
"You locked your room? Why?" Damon asked seeing the door open in front of him.
Hazel yawned lazily, then raised an eyebrow: "I can see you're excited"
"You know me so well" Damon giggled and walked into her room.
"Tell me, why are you so excited?"
"I made a new friend at school today"
"Oh" for split second, she had the urge to know who it was. "Male or female?"
"Male. I finally found someone I can contend with in terms of beauty."
Hazel curled her lips as she stared disdainfully at him. Why did her brother think so highly of himself?
Besides, she was getting really curious. Someone he proudly said he could contend with in the future.
"Aiit, what's his name?"
"Carlin Lightbolt"
"Lightbolt? He sure has a weird name." She muttered.
"Yeah, he does. He's quite cute and lovable tho. Believe me you and Ariel are gonna love him!" Damon practically screamed.
"Alright shut up shut up. Get out if you don't. I had my head riled up in thought before your arrival" saying that, she didn't give him an option but directly pushed him out.
Outside, Damon's lips twitched uncontrollably. Why did he feel his sister changed in the spam of two days?
She wasn't so active and would hardly say a word to him talk more of pushing him out—having physical contact with him.
Rubbing his forehead, he fetched his phone and browsed through his call logs in search of his 'friend's' number.
In her room, Hazel's curiousity was piqued by Damon's new friend. Drawing close her laptop, she turned it on and scrolled through the citizens in the country.
Finally, she stopped at Carlin Lightbolt. His information were quite simple. Stayed with his elder brother. No information of his hometown, mother, father buy other information were all listed out.
Pursing her lips. She switched to a dark site. Still, she found nothing. Frustrated, she flung the laptop away then picked up her phone.
"Find me a certain Carlin Lightbolt who has come in contact with Damon" she ordered.
The reply from the other end came perfunctory. Staying silent for a while, she hung up.
For the rest of the day, she tossed about in her bed. It was quite unusual she couldn't find anything about the boy. It was even more frightening when the thought something big was about to happen kept her awake as she was oblivion to the fact if it'd be something good or terrible.
.....
Carlin had his head lowered reading a physics textbook when suddenly a pair of slender hands snatched it away.
Raising his head, his eyes was met with a beautiful sight. The girl in front of him looked quite...pretty—extremely pretty.
Hazel turned the pages of the textbook like tho in search of something. After five minutes of silence, she handed the book back to the boy.
"Sorry" she coughed, a smile making its way to her lips, "something caught my interest. Recently, I've been searching for a formula which not most physics textbook omit, thought yours had it since it's actually different from others"
"Oh" turning the textbook in his hands, Carlin hesitated for some seconds, then offered: "I have some more at my place. Would you mind if I lend them to you?"
"I would be extremely grateful." She replied.
"Alright then. I'll bring them with me tomorrow."
Hazel nodded, she was about walking off when she thought of something. "You don't know my name, how are we gonna meet again?"
Carlin smiled: "With your looks It'd be easy to find you"
"Oh, alright" Hazel muttered and walked past him, a cold look replacing the smiley one.
Although he sounded quite believable, she was quite convinced the guy wasn't ordinary.
The textbook be had only had two copies in the whole world, one which belonged to her and the other to him. She had obtained it because of her position and he had one too. How?
Glancing at her time, she increased her pace walking to her next class.
Class went smoothly but she couldn't ignore the strange looks she recieved from other students.
She had never cared about the looks as she had put on her mask after leaving Carlin's presence.
After class, she was pulled aside by Abigail who showed her a trending post in the school's forum.
—Strange relationship. School Queen Ariel and the weird freshman who often wears a mask spotted sharing an intimate gaze.
Attach to the sentence was a photograph which clearly photographed the two sharing a gaze. The photo would have been easily clarified if Ariel didn't have a side of her lips chewed in.
The post already had reactions counting up to 4,000 in matter of thirty minutes.
Hazel shoved the phone aside and smiled wryly. Even though she wasn't sure, she knew the perpetrator of the post.
She pursed her lips and glanced at Abigail: "Don't you have better things to do other than reading comments and stuffs that's only gonna shorten your life?"
Abigail who ha been worrying her little head ever since she saw the post was dumbstruck. She was simply worrying for nothing!
Deciding to leave the matter, she sighed and patted Hazel's shoulder: "Giving me the privilege to stay at the premium center for lunch is enough for me to support you even though you may not be straight"
Hazel scoffed, then threw off the other party's hand lightly. "Go focus on your studies."
Her tone was extremely arrogant which made Abigail think she was only trying to make herself feel better but inside, she was wallowing in self pity.
Before Abigail could say another word, Hazel turned around and walked out. Slipping her phone out, Hazel made a phone call.
Since the girl didn't want peace, she would give her what she wanted.
When Hazel got home, she was met with her family in a joyous mood. Each having their heads lowered to their phones.
Amused, she walked towards her father and peeked at his phone. Her curious expression turned to one of disgust.
Who would ever believe the man was enjoying his daughter being called a.. forget it, the word were too shameless for her to spout.
Damon was the first to notice her and he called out to her instantly: "Hazel, you're back!"
The other two paused and stared towards the direction Damon was smiling out.
Noticing the boy seemed to be looking at his back, Romeo stiffened. Could it be...? While he asked himself the question, he turned around to meet the lazy eyes of his daughter.
