Chapter 20

Anjo came with me to buy a cellphone, even if it's not expensive, it's okay. We also didn't stay long at the mall and went home immediately because I still had a lot to do.

"Zella ?! Where are you ?! Do you know what's going on here ?!" Suzie opened up to me when I called her.

I was held on the forehead because of the problem I left behind and the person I aggravated when I left.

"I'm sorry Suzie. I'll explain to you, promise. I need your help." I said and I heard her breathing deeply on the other line.

"You know I won't reject you, right? Just text me where you are. Even if you're in Tawi-Tawi. I'll go to you." she said and I smiled there.

"Yes, but don't tell anyone where I am, okay? Anyone ..." I said, even though it was impossible for Taiden to ask for me.

"Did you know Taiden almost squeezed me? To tell him where you are? He scared 'me Zella! Gosh. He looked scary when he came here a while ago." I sighed at what she said.

"D-Did he go there?" I asked tremblingly because my heart was beating so hard that I hated it because when Taiden was being talked about, my heartbeat became violent.

"Yes! He brought his friends Zella. And guess what? They talked to the dean to ask him to allow them to find you all over the university! Gurl, I'm telling you the hot look they had earlier ... especially ... Taiden. " hanging on Suzie said the latter.

My eyes rolled in annoyance. Even if he searches me all over the Philippines, I won't show up. For what? To receive insults and hurtful words again? To make me a fool again?

"I don't care about him, Suzie. As long as I hope you don't tell anyone that I'm calling you." I pleaded.

"That's not a problem for me. Are you sure? I don't really know the whole story, but I'll listen if you want to tell the story Zella. And please, if I could help, call me... anything. You know how powerful my family's name is. " she said and I smiled again at Suzie's kindness to me, ever since.

I told Suzie the favor I was asking for and she said she would take care of sending my papers.

Life alone and heartbreak are not an obstacle to stop me from reaching my dreams. For me, all of these I've been facing are just spices of what we called ... life.

I used my heart rather than my brain when I fell in love with Taiden. And I was wrong. Wrong, that's just pure heart.

Sometimes, because we love someone so much, we no longer see the right from wrong, we no longer notice what they are doing wrong or we ourselves go blind. Why? Because we love them. Because we use our heart rather than the brain.

I mismanaged my feelings. I should've let my mind decide what is right. I didn't think if I deserve the love I am getting or is it still worth that love or the person ... you love.

Clearly, a heartless beast like Taiden isn't worth any piece of my heart. I will consider him like a subject in the school where I failed, that I don't want to study again...to pass.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome onboard Flight 4B7 with service from Hong Kong to San Francisco. Thank you for choosing Mountain Airlines. Enjoy your flight! "

I said before returning to the cabin crew area and sat down for the plane flight.

This is my last flight and I can finally take my long vacation.

After hours, we safely landed at San Francisco International Airport. The flight went smooth so I happily walked to the airport parking lot.

I slumped down in the car and closed my eyes. Jetlag is really a pain in the ass. As I closed my eyes, my cellphone suddenly rang.

"Where are you? You should have landed, shouldn't you?" it's Keion and I smiled at the same time shaking my head. He has always been like this.

"I'm coming home. I'm hungry, did you cook?" I heard him chuckle.

"Of course. Come on, drive safely."

"Alright. See you!" I said and immediately started my car. I was excited to eat and relax. It was like I wanted to sleep a whole day because I was tired from the three returning flights.

Keion and I live only 20 minutes away from the airport. It's his condo. Even if I could get my own unit, he really didn't want to. Because he said no one would cook for me when I came home from the flight. It's also tiring to cook or eat out so sometimes I just go straight to sleep.

When I opened the unit with the duplicate keycard, I saw him standing on the edge of the sofa, leaning over and folded his arms ams on his chest. When he saw me, he immediately approached me, he hugged and kissed my forehead.

I hugged him back and kissed his cheeks. He grinned there and he messed up my hair.

"Let's go, I cooked your favorite humba." he said and I almost got stuck in my excitement. He really knows me well, now.

It's been what? 5 years, we've been together so he has memorized everything about me and so have I.

"So, where are we going to spend your vacation?" he asked and I knew what to answer because I hadn't been home for so long.

"Philippines. I miss Suzie and Anjo." I said and he nodded.

"Alright, anywhere my baby wants." he sweetly stated and we started eating.

I have to visit Anjo's family because I am so indebted to them. They took me in when I was still studying in Cebu. They treated me like family and I treated them the same way.

They helped me when I was struggling with my graduation and so did Suzie.

Suzie is now happily married with one of Keion's friends. Who would've thought that they would end up together? Elton used to be the one who was always linked to her.

And well, Sofiya is married too, says Suzie. And me, I'mbliving my own dream.

I'm thankful of what had happened in the past. It made me strong and driven to accomplished my goals. I'm thankful of him. If he hadn't maybe done that. I may not have been so persistent.

Sometimes it takes a heartbreak to shake us awake and help us see we are worth so much more than we're settling for.
