The user is able to manipulate archetypes, universally accepted patterns, images or models that have been a part of human consciousness and culture since antiquity. Though the term has been in existence for centuries, the image-related nature of the term is most often connected to 20th century analytical psychologist, Carl Jung. Jung postulated that there are fundamentally instinctual models that are ingrained in humanity's collective unconscious. These images are apparently inherited from humanity's ancestors; though patterns and images may be altered according to an individual's personal nature and experiences, they generally conform to certain accepted designs and interpretations. There is an unlimited number of archetypes and their motifs greatly affect the mind and by extension, decisions and actions. Concerning the views of society, many archetypes are often displayed in mythological traditions and artistic ventures like literature, with entities like stock characters.

In being able to manipulate archetypes, one can potentially manifest a number of potent abilities capable of affecting various planes of existence. One could manifest motifs as solidified, actualized living manifestations (physical plane). One could control the way people understand certain archetypes, altering their interpretations and/or significance (mental plane). One could also control the collective unconscious and psyche of humanity (astral plane). This could even extend to controlling the collective memories of others in relation to images and patterns (causal plane).

Types

Though infinite in number, there are certain sets of archetypes that are more well-known than others.

(Major Jungian Archetypes)

Persona – This is the specialized camouflage individuals use for interacting in the world. The Persona, utilized as a "mask," creates an externalized, exaggerated face that is presented to society at large, while at the same time, concealing the internal true self.

Anima/Animus – These are innate gendered aspects of the human sexes. The Anima is the internalized set of female tendencies in the male psyche, while the Animus is the internalized set of male tendencies in the female psyche.

Shadow – This is the unconscious part of one's personality that is ignored or even forgotten. The Shadow represents undesirable traits like certain inclinations and instincts; though hidden, they seek to be acknowledged, often by being projected onto someone else.

Self – This is the unification of the conscious and the unconscious. The ego is the center of consciousness, and the self is in the centre of personality. Personality holds consciousness, ego and the unconscious mind. To create the Self, one must endure individuation, the integration of various personality aspects, with the ultimate goal being a totally, properly cohesive being.

(Other Jungian Archetypes) Father/Father God – This is the representation of a masculine, stern, powerful authority figure who acts intellectually and wilfully.

Mother/Mother Goddess – This is the representation of a feminine, comforting, nurturing figure associated with fertility and creation.

Trickster – This is the representation of a troublemaker who lies, deceives, manipulates and disrupts societal order (though they can also restore it if desired).

(Literary Archetypes) Lover – This is the representation of the sentimentalist, one who is guided by emotion and matters of the heart.

Outlaw – This is the representation of the rebel who acts outside of regular convention or methods, often playing by their own rules. (Potentially villainous).

Magician – This is the representation of the uniquely powerful individual who has access to supernatural abilities and knowledge.

Creator – This is the representation of the builder and maker, often marked by a significant creation that the world has not seen or desperately needs.

Innocent – This is the representation of the untainted, pure individual who often sees the world through "rose-colored glasses."

Explorer – This is the representation of the curious adventurer, driven to understand and map out the unknown.

Jester – This is the representation of a clown or comic relief, offering levity and entertainment, while also sometimes giving advice.

Everyman – This is the representation of the regular person who often has no unique significance and is relatable to any and all people.

Ruler – This is the representation of the monarch or overlord wielding power over others through different means.

Child/Inner child – This is the representation of the innocent youth, marked by unseen potential and seen as one's issues with growing up.

Sage/Wise Old Man/Wise Old Woman – This is the representation of the wise, experienced and helpful mentor offering guidance and direction.

Hero – This is the representation of the warrior imbued with strength and purpose, dedicated to making the world a better place, aiding the downtrodden, etc.

Villain – This is the representation of the malicious individual who seeks to accomplish some wicked end, often at the expense of others.

(Mythological Archetypes) Cosmic Man – The archetype of the cosmic entity, often a creator or figure associated with the world's inception. Often seen as a positive figure.

Folk Hero – The archetype of the special hero associated with the identity and/or consciousness of a specific nation and/or culture.

Hero's journey/Monomyth – The archetype of the quest a chosen one must undertake to fulfill their special task.

Legendary creature – The archetype of the supernatural animal or beast that often features specialized abilities.
