ARIANA'S POV:
I just can believe that Joshua ditched me...i can at least say that now since we're now friends but he left without saying a word and that too after a phone call with Annabel. I'm sure this Annabel is really is girlfriend or else he wouldn't be so anxious when I picked up the phone.
"Ariana darling, are you in?" Mum's voice was heard as I walked over to open the door for her.
"Yeah, I was about to sleep." I told her as she nodded and sat down on the chair beside the table stand.
"Joshua? Where is he...I haven't him." She asked.
"Joshua went home." Ariana replied.
"Really? Is the project done, wasn't he supposed to leave tommorow, what happened?"
"Mum I'm tired." I simply told.
"No! You aren't you're just avoiding my question." Mum stated as she stared at me like a horse.
"Mum nothing happened, something important came up so he left." I explained.
"Fine, I'll believe that for now but know you can talk to me if anything is bothering you." She said in a helpless tone.
"Sure."
...
Ariana arrived school on Monday and after dropping her belongings in the hostel, she headed for class. Throughout the weekend, she kept thinking about Joshua and that girl whom which he snatched the phone from her hand. She felt so sad and angry but why?
She entered into the classroom to see Mia and Olive talking. What? When did that start?
"Ariana!" Olivia called her nameas she walked over to where they were.
"Mia, here was just telling me about you and Joshua's project." Olivia explained.
"Have you completed it and where is Joshua?" She asked, looking behind my back.
"Joshua...he's not here but we finished up the day before yesterday." She replied.
"Oh? So the rumors are right after all." It was Mia that spoke this time.
"Rumors?" Ariana repeated, confused.
"Yeah that Joshua spent the night at your house." Mia replied angrily but she tried not to show it but it seemed that Ariana could hear the jealousy in her tone.
"Joshua didn't sleep at my house for fun...he came over for a project." She explained.
"You can ask him." She stated.
"And why should I?" Mia asked, standing to her feet.
"I don't know what you've done to him but please stay away from Joshua because girls like you are likely to ruin his reputation." She hissed.
"What are you even saying?" Ariana asked, confused.
"Stop being naive and accept the truth, Joshua can never like and if he were to like you... you'll have to up your status because you are nothing compared to him." She hissed and left.
"Ariana!" Olive called but she remained silent and stood there staring at nothing. The words Mia said had stung her but why? Shed knew from the beginning that Joshua was not an ordinary guy but what with the status, it's not that she can't afford anything or why does it even matter.
"Ariana!" Olive called again as she snapped back to reality and before Olive could say anything, Ariana left the class room.
