Test
Another 1 month past Velo has to reset again. He doesn't know why the ruin tracker invades this place. Velo, try asking the A.I. It seems to know something but using the "You don't have enough authority" excuse.
While he was training for CQC. Velo, ask about why the A.I. can't just give him free stuff. Turn out the A.I. can't disobey the rule in their code.
After another reset, Velo finally finish the basic course with an end on how to move around efficiently.
"Congratulations!! You have completed the basic course. your effectiveness in combat has been improved by 300%. Now to complete this course you have to fight a ruin tracker and survive."
"What!? I don't think....."
"You have as many tries as you want. If you feel like you can't pass it, you can request to restart the training program"
The training room shifted from a white room to simulate the ruin outside Dumo tower. If he didn't know that it was a simulation, he would have thought they had taken him outside. In his amazement, Velo forgot that this was a test and let his guard down.
The ruin tracker launched at him. Velo realizes it and dodges the lunge last second. He rolls off the ground and aims the gun at the creature.
He shoots at it with the same training gun. A burst shot came out of the muzzle. Two bullets fly past the monster but one hit its shoulder. It blows off some of the monster's flesh but doesn't slow it down. Velo is not in a position to dodge it anymore. He gets eaten whole.
The monster disappears along with the ruin.
"Subject Velo, please be more serious. In the actual situation, the ruin tracker wouldn't just vanish like this."
"Yeah, I got it."
Velo readied himself as his surroundings transform back to the wasteland building. This time he dies himself in an alleyway, carefully peeking out. When it's clear, he moves into the building. He plans to secure a safe place where he can shoot carefully.
The building is not real, but they made it psychically by raising the walls or floors of the room to adjust to the environment. This is a very flexible but fragile material. It can't withstand the power of a real bullet, but it is sturdy enough for this kind of simulation. 99% of the time people don't bring an actual weapon in here, anyway. Even if anything breaks, they can easily replace the room since the cost of manufacturing one of these room plates is low.
Velo, peek out the window. His target is about 500m away walking around the streets looking for something. He aims it at the monster with shaking hands, still remembering the time it eats him. He calms himself and takes his shot.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The burst shot cut through the back of the ruin tracker. it deals serious damage to it but he didn't hit the head. His shaking hand makes him miss the head. He fires another barrage right after he miss but that's also a miss. The ruin tracker change in his direction. It makes this harder for Velo to track the monster with its speed.
It climbs up the building after taking some shots from the rifle. Velo can't seem to finish the job because of its beak-like mouth. It is incredibly sturdy even an old-world gun can't penetrate it. At most he could only make a dent in the black beak.
The monster climb up the side of the building. It getting closer and closer. Velo can't keep shooting at it at this angle. He backs off and makes his last stand in the back of the room.
Velo, wait patiently. The moment that the ruin tracker peaks its head out he will pop it. He aims through the red dot scope and starts counting to make himself focus.

Bang! Bang! Bang!
He skips all the number as the ruin tracker head pop up. the bullet flies through the air. Sadly it only hit its black beak.
Velo saw that he didn't take it down change the gun to auto-firing mode and unload the whole magazine on it. The ruin tracker lost one of its legs but Velo didn't win yet.
The ruin tracker launched at him with its three legs. the speed of it drops significantly from before and Velo easily dodges it. He picks up the magazine from his belt and quickly reloads it on the gun. As he was about to shoot at it, the creature's tail swipe him into the wall.
The wall cracked. Velo was confused about how the simulation did the tail swipe. Most of the time he only saw images of something. Even the gun he holding is a piece of brick in reality. He decides to ask about it later.
The ruin tracker jumped at him again. This time its mouth was wide open ready to swallow Velo. He picks up his gun and a split second before the monster reaches him he shoots it without aiming. The bullet penetrates through the inside of its mouth. Blowing its head clean off but its body crashes into Velo with the same speed.
"YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!"
The ruin vanishes again but now he's on a white floating platform descending down to the floor. He's in a good mood after he takes down the ruin tracker for the first time.
"Sorry to ruin the mood but you've failed the test"
"What!?"
"The objective is to take down the target and survive. You have completed 1 task but failed the other"
Velo realizes that the corpse of that ruin tracker will properly crush him if this isn't a simulation. He sighs and picks up the run again.
"Let me try another one"
"Starting....."
Velo, try out different strategies. It didn't work out 4 times until he went back to camping in the building.
Velo climb up some buildings again but this time he waits for the ruin tracker to be closer. He looks through the red dot square cope that displays how long the target is. He patiently wait till it was about 200m away and shoot it.
Ruin tracker notices the shots the moment it is out of a muzzle. The bullet Fly through its long head and cut it off.
"Congrats! You have passed the test."
"Finally.. haha what can I do next... Isn't there a higher level to this training?"
"There is but you don't have enough authority."
"You always say that but how do I get more of this... "authority"?"
"Normally when you got registered as a subject you would get an officer rank authority. But the rank is often issued by another human base on their judgment so we won't be able to give out this rank due to a lack of "Human" resources"
"So... I'm just unlucky?"

A blue screen pops up on his wristband displaying information. The A.I. guides him through the setting. What this does is when you are within a radius of 10 km outside Dumo tower Velo can connect directly to Dumo's local network.
The A.I also points out how the wristband can track what condition your body is in. the battery life of this thing is theoretically endless. Unless you break its power core. This wristband also has a flashlight function.
The main feature of this device is the ability to easily connect to the old world network. But the global network is offline so you can only connect to the local Dumo one.
