Raffains

Velo has been led to the room that has the same decoration as the guest room that he's in earlier. After receiving a key card, he's left with his own device.

Velo truly has nothing to do for the day. He doesn't plan on going out there with his current equipment. He doesn't want to risk resetting this run.

Speaking of equipment, Velo thought of buying a new one since selling three old-world nutrient packs net him 2,700,000 tels. He could buy a new and better gun with this money.

The amount of money he's capable of making is more than he could ever imagine. In real-time, it's only been 2 days after his incident, but Velo has been in this Chronus project for over 3 months now.

His worldview begins to change. He talks to more people than he ever would in his life. He got more money to live happily. With his deal, he could become an inner wall citizen. Does he really have to struggle anymore?

'Let's think about this after visiting the Dumo ruins.' He shelves this thought for later and heads to a gun shop in the walls.

It's a cleaner chop than the one outside. The clerk greets him in the shop and asks for the budget. He takes Velo through the various options and subtlety recommends the gun that his company is selling.

Velo ends up buying a sniper rifle RXY-36. It's a fairly powerful full one with the capability of pricing a Ruin tracker skin. He can't help but compare it to an old-world gun. The RXY-36 pale in comparison to the power of an old-world gun.

With only a single fire mode and the big size of the gun make it's difficult to shoot. And the gun isn't even as powerful as the old-world gun.

Although this is on the low end for sniper rifles, Velo expects more from a 2 million tels gun. He should have just used all this to buy a grenade, but thinking back to his failure, he decides to shelve that idea.

However, a contrast here isn't only with the gun, even the seller has less personality to him. Velo can tell that the clerk there's only to sell the product. They didn't love it as old will do. Thus, Velo doesn't really trust them on their recommendation.

But he did select the product from the information paper. The guns that are sold in the inner walls or rebuttable shops always have gun information paper with them.

GIP for short, is a way to identify a gun that the city has appraised and approved. The paper will include a gun type, fire rate, magazine, etc. This helps Velo decide on what to buy for his budget.

After venturing outside, he heads back to his room. He brose the room terminal to see what the O'ruma city network is like. He quickly found that he can't read most of the things on here.

However, he can navigate through the network by guessing the icon and clicking on stuff. It has some NEWS on there and other entertainment like music or dancing video. It's a weird concept for him, like Nyannyacutecat.

Velo put on slow music and went to bed, relaxing.

//////////

In the morning Velo woke up late at 10 o'clock. The room doesn't have a window, so he could only guess that the sun is already up. It's not like the slum alley where the sun wakes him up.

He still forgot about the fact that he's not in the slum anymore. Even though he is now used to sleeping in a safe place. He packed up his thing and call in Madam Celine's servant to his room. He's a man about 180 cm tall with black hair and red eyes, dressed in a black suit.

"Madam said to give this to you."

The servant hands over a black t-shirt and blue jeans. Velo gets in the shower and wears it, surprisingly it fits him really well. He suspects that they took this measurement when he passes through the decontamination room.

After Velo has finished dressing up, they bring in a weird-looking device. It's a fairly big device that has a hole to put something in.

"For the ID card to register, we need your fingerprint and blood sample. Please put your hand inside. The machine will do the work."

Velo follows the instruction and put his hand on the machine. The inside feels a little warm and green light flashes through the opening. A second later, he felt a little pain in his pointing finger and reflectively pull his hand out.

Luckily, it didn't ruin the process and the machine still got his blood. The machine is an ID maker. The primary use of this is to make the inner wall citizen have an identification easily accessible.

However, the process has to be supervised by an O'ruma city High-rank citizen. Usually every year they host a coming of age ceremony. Where they officially become an O'ruma city citizen.

"????"

"Is there a problem?"

"Have you been registered before?"

"No, as long as I can remember I've been in the slum."

"um... OK, we will register a new one for you then." A card came out of the machine. He hands them to Velo.

"Insert it in your terminal chip slots. It's will act as your Citizen card. If you ever lost the terminal you can ask for a new chip to be installed. Your blood and fingerprint data will remain in the O'rema database. Please be cautious of your action."

Velo insert the chip in his slots and an ID card came up. It has his blood type height and fingerprint along with his name. Velo Raffains?

As soon as he sees his name he snaps his head to get the answer from the servant. The guy seems to have predicted this creation and answered it before Velo ask.

"Elevating a slum kid with no background would be a herculean task for our business so madam decides to reduce friction by adopting you. Don't worry madam won't actually be your mother. it'll only be in names."

"I'm I free to go to the inner walls?"

"Yes, but only with my supervision"

"Let's go then, what's your name?"

"I'm Fran a servant of the Raffains house. I'll be watching over you."

Celine must have had some plan in mind when giving this to him but Velo didn't think much about it because of the excitement from seeing the inner walls.
