"Hey, Shinji, it's about time we went home!"
"Coming Sir," it's been two years since I fled the camp and left Hirihama. Some of the soldiers who knew who I was pursued me. Posters were everywhere in the country, so I decided to leave for good and enter the smallest kingdom unknown to anyone.
The kingdom was located on a large island, and the people welcomed me warmly. The people look different from Japanese people and more Okinawan. As you might have guessed, I've entered the fictional world of Okinawa.
The people here were tribes with earth, water, and steel power. Earth and water have always been associated with agriculture, whereas steel has always been associated with hunters and soldiers. The soldiers were few in number, but they were all skilled fighters. To keep my secret power, I spent a few months learning the art of steel power and mastering it, giving me two powers at once. Now that I'm seventeen, I'm safe from the Amida soldiers for the time being.
I joined the soldiers, but there weren't many enemies attacking this island called Kaishima, so some soldiers went hunting for food while others took turns guarding the island. So, rather than joining the guards, I was forced to become a hunter, even though I liked it because they thought many things during training sessions, and my disadvantage was hunting, which really sickens me off.
I was in the forest with some of the men when I turned to see a man surveying the area and called out loudly. His name was Ishida, and he was aided by his fellow hunters Horio and me, who acted as his arms. We used a signal to target a large boar and spear him. Many people fled when they saw the boar was dead, as we sob-shot arrows at the animals. When the men were successful in their hunt, they cheered and one of them blew a horn in victory. Horio was sweating and resting on a nearby stump.
"What, it's already done? And there is still plenty of game to be had. It's unfortunate, you know "Horio stated.
"Earnings today are already excessive. It's not good to be so greedy, so just get down from there "Ishida stated
"Right, I get it," Horio said as he began skinning the animal.
I gracefully jumped down and landed among the corpses of countless small animals strewn across the forest floor in front of Ishida's eyes. Each animal had an arrow protruding brilliantly from one of its various vital organs.
"As usual, outstanding. "That's some monstrous skill," Ishida said as he patted my head. "I don't even like bows, but without arrows, fighting is impossible." " I scuffed because I found it difficult to aim and it actually stressed my arm while attempting to aim.
Ishida stood to gain nothing by responding. Even a skilled hunter, let alone the inexperienced Ishida and Horio, couldn't replicate my consistent results. He didn't want to hear someone as knowledgeable as myself say that it wasn't even my specialty.
"Oi, wait. I thought we were going to take down a small boar together. If it's like this, isn't it as though you're the best one?" scolded Horio
Horio poked the dead boar. Since it was small, there wouldn't been much praise.
"Come on, isn't it amazing?"
"Oh yea, it's amazing. Totally amazing. You're amazing." I scoffed "All right! I'll take it."
Innocently smiling, I tossed some berries to Horio for the complement.
"Oh thanks. …shit, this is as sour as ever," Horio scowled as he chewed the seeds.
Complaining about being hot, I began to loosen the top of my shirt. Ishida felt his gaze begin to drift while Horio was happily enjoying the view.
"he's always the same. Don't you have any awareness of yourself as a man"
Irritated by my defenselessness, Ishida tossed a cloth over me to cover it up, and Horio quietly clicked his tongue.
"… You could catch a cold, so wipe your sweat. Go on." said Ishida
"Okay." I said as I washed my face from the waterfall near the camp where we were working, after staying in the mud I cleaned myself from head to toe, where someone came out after having a bath in the waterfall, a lady came out. she was wiping her hair and looked like an angel. Her name was Yuzuriha, a 20 year old woman and the senior officers daughter who loved hunting and as the best record of hunting. She is somehow, Ishida's fiance.
As she wiped her hair, Ishida
was fascinated by her ruffled, gently swaying, black hair. It was mysteriously captivating. She sees him, and he tries to hide himself in front of me. Yuzuriha smiling came next to him
"Where you looking at me?" she questions
"No I'm not" said Ishida sweating
"Well then, let's head back and eat some food! Good food and rest are the first steps to happiness right?" said Yuzuriha as she soon snatches a kiss from him and left leaving him day dreaming while I smiled at a distance.
"Huh! Love" I said to my self as I took a notebook from my pocket . I always maintenaned a book where I note everything done today. It didn't matter whom I asked, every detail of every method to find happiness was written down. Whatever I didn't think would work out was crossed off with a diagonal line. I always put in a great deal of effort, but still hadn't made much progress.
"That's how it is. All right then, let's head back. Horio, gather up the game." said Ishida as he ordered everyone to get ready to head back home
"Right. With just this much, we'll eat a feast today!" said Horio
"Well, good luck guys, I need to head home." I said as I dispersed where Ishida catch hold of me
"You help too. Get the rope out of that bag."
"Okay, I get it." I sighed
They fastened their prey to wooden poles for the journey back. The mountainous region created an environment in which very few agricultural crops could grow, so the village populations were instead sustained by what the hunters brought back each day. That dependence on hunters was what allowed me to reside in the village.
