Marriage

"Wait, hold on a second. So, did you say that I just married some random guy?"

"Well, not really random. He is the third prince." He replied.

"But he is still a stranger to me. I don't even know if I like him or not. And I don't even have my memories of my past. I didn't even get to meet him before. There's no way I could marry him or anyone for that matter. Especially because I don't even know if I'm straight or not. So, what the fuck are you talking about?" I said,

"Well, I thought it would be nice if you got to know him better instead of just marrying him without any prior knowledge of him. And that's why I invited him to stay with us until you two feel comfortable about marrying each other!" Father looked excited as he said that.

"This is ridiculous!" I shouted.

"Don't blame me! The people at the palace were the ones that made me do this. They said that this marriage was for the country. They said that I have to get it done as soon as possible. Also, the third prince seems like he's a nice guy and he's got nothing to do and nowhere to go as well. And I thought I could take a chance of having him learn from us." Father explained.

"Wait, so you just decided to do this on your own?" I asked.

"Well, yea. The people at the palace are just a bunch of idiots. They had said that I have to get this marriage done as soon as possible and all I could think of was that if I wait for a few more years, it would start affecting me and the people around me. But if I tricked them into thinking that I'm gonna let that prince marry you by having him stay here until you get hold of this duchy, it wouldn't hurt anyone, right?" He had a sly smile on his face as he said that.

"So, you're telling me that I won't have to marry this guy?" I was elated when I heard that.

"Well, not exactly. I thought that it was a brilliant plan from my part to fool those guys. However, it wasn't so. I'm sorry, but the people at the palace are very adamant about this matter. They said that if I don't get you two married by the end of this year, they'll charge me with treason. So, you might as well let him stay here until you two get to know each other better. And then you can decide if you wanna marry him or not." He said.

"So, tell me again. Why did you have to send that letter to the palace?" I asked. I mean, everything would've been just fine if he hadn't done that to begin with.

"I had thought that if I declined, the people at the palace would take it as a sign of rebellion against the royal family. And even though I'm a fan of dying off, I don't want my family to go down with me as well. I mean, I want to see you rule this place before I die, you know." He said softly. I could feel his love for me as he said those words.

He had no idea how much I wanted to see him smile and be proud of me. At least the bearer of this body really wanted to... which is me now, I guess... It's really confusing, even for me.

"I see..." I spoke.

"So, what do you say? Would you wanna give this marriage a try?" He asked.

"You mean I really have no choice?" I asked him one last time.

"Well, you can choose to give up being the heiress to this place and become a nun or something like that. Then you won't have to go through with this marriage. However, being a nun is tedious as heck and I don't think you'll be up for the task. Also, leaving this luxurious life to live as a nun? That's a fate worse than death. You can also choose to leave this place and go somewhere else. Although, I don't think you'll be able to do that since you also have no memory of your past. So, you might as well take a chance and give this a try. I mean, you might find the man of your dreams." He said.

"I see. Well, if I have no other choice, I guess I'll give it a shot." I reluctantly replied.

"I'm glad to hear that. I'll let the people at the palace know that you have accepted the marriage proposal as well. Although, you accepting this would mean that we have to plan something so that the third prince would be the one breaking off this marriage." He spoke.

I gave out a sigh of relief. "I would've been screwed if you were to give the green light as well, you know?"

"I would never. After all, you're the one destined to be my successor." He smiled.

"And I'm glad to hear that." I smiled as well.

"By the way, do you want to meet the third prince?" He asked.

"I guess? I mean, I already promised you that I would give this fake marriage a try. I'm not gonna go back on my words now. But I won't be happy if he's as weird as you are." I replied.

"Hahaha, I guess I'm weird, huh?" He laughed. He then patted me on the head. "Well, I guess I'll go and write a letter to the palace now."

He then made his way out of the room. "Oh and by the way, I'd love it if you called me father, you know?"

"Well, I'll do that once I get my memories all sorted out. Right now, it's really weird calling you like that frequently since I have two people's memories now." I replied.

"Hmm, I guess I'll wait for you to sort it out then." He smiled before leaving.
