Rage

Alex laid unconscious in the crimson field.

His body had recovered quickly, but his mind lingered on the anger and a primal urge for destruction.

As he napped on the grassy bed, memories of his mother and step-father fought with his rage in an attempt to ease the anger...

"Come on, baby. You have to eat." A sweet, but frustrated, soft voice reached Alex's ears.

He was transported to his earliest, deepest memory of his mother.

She sat on a couch, with a small jar of processed bananas in her hand while he sat on her lap. He could recognize the familiar old brick fireplace and decorative trim on the walls. He was in his childhood home!

"I'm sorry, you won't ever meet your father, but it's for the best!" The struggling mother tried to coerce the infant to accept a bite of food.

"He made sure you'll be set for life," She said excitedly, as she flew the spoon like an airplane.

Baby Alex took a mouthful of food that he was offered and started to feel drowsy. He tried to stave off the tiredness, wanting to spend more time with his mother, but it was impossible. He leaned back resting his head comfortably on her breasts as he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

"Once his check clears, we'll be out of this town!" her faint feminine voice lingered as the memory faded back into the depths.

Suddenly, he found himself teetering, as he attempted to stand on two legs shakily. A gruff voice entered and spooked him, nearly causing him to fall to the ground, "Babe, we don't even have to tell him about his dad… I'll be his dad!"

"I don't know, Kain… You and I were fighting at the time, and I don't want to lie to him." Carol's familiar soothing voice helped the infant regain his balance.

"Good job, Alex! Come on, walk to mom!" She shook her arms excitedly encouraging the boy to waddle over to her as she smiled.

His legs wobbled as he took his first step.

"I love you both, and I'll always be here; we'll be okay as long as we have each other." Kain dropped to one knee and pulled a ring out of his pocket.

Alex took one more step toward Carol before he lost his balance and fell backward.

His vision changed again.

Hoping for another pleasant memory, he smiled as the picture slowly formed and he saw Jimmy's face inches away from his own.

A rough slap echoed through the clearing as he felt a pain rush to his cheek.

His anger welled up inside. "What the Hell was that for!?"

"You need to experience triggering the transformation a few times," Jimmy said as he stood up and backed away from the angry were-rex.

"Hold onto that feeling and use it next time." He stepped back and waited for the young man's reaction.

"What do you mean, 'feeling'? I don't feel anything but pissed off!" Alex balled his hands into fists as he stood up.

Partially coagulated blood dripped from his arms as he glared at Jimmy. His frustration had only risen as he crouched over in agony, feeling a sharp pain in his stomach.

He had begun to change yet again.

Jimmy strolled over and nonchalantly knocked him unconscious once more. It would take some time for him to wake up, but this was the process. This continued until even Jimmy started to get exhausted.

So much blood had fallen from Alex that it saturated the ground and formed an ankle-deep pool. Both of them were completely covered in it, and Jimmy was beginning to feel sick. Nobody ever pushed themselves this hard on their first day of training.

He admired the young man's determination.

"Alexander, stop!" Jimmy reached out when he began to awaken, but he wasn't fast enough. The were-rex began his terramorphosis the moment he regained consciousness, and this time Jimmy wasn't in position to stop it.

Alex's claws emerged, ripping open his human body, and he slapped the old man away before he could knock him out. His transformation was occurring faster than it did previously, before Jimmy could regain his stance, Alex had changed and was beginning to grow in size.

There was no choice but to take his spinosaurus form!

Hurriedly, he exploded as his human flesh dissipated in the air around him. He depended on his experience to finish the change before his pupil.

Letting out a deep growl, the spinosaurus began approaching the growing T-Rex. Every step of his webbed feet caused the deep crimson pool to spray the entirety of the field. The surrounding trees and the car were quickly coated.

His growl likely would have subdued an opponent that was below him on the hierarchy. But, to the herd leader, it sounded like a mere challenge.

The Were-Rex's instincts took over, hearing the growl as his underling questioning his ability to lead the herd. He let out an agonizing roar that reverberated through the forest, as he charged through the field and bit at Jimmy's neck.

Jimmy was at a disadvantage on the land, and was instinctively against harming his leader. Still, he was more experienced in using his form, as well as dinosaur battles. He was also stronger than Alex, which allowed him to side-step the inexperienced fighter and slap him with his tail.

Alex didn't let that stop him. His rage could only be quelled through a liberal shedding of his opponent's blood.

He regained his balance and charged back at his opponent.

Jimmy found himself directly facing the giant jaws of the T-Rex. Not wanting to do serious harm to the boy, he turned his body as they collided, hoping to knock him on his side.

Alex slid backward as he clawed at Jimmy's back and slammed his tail into the ground to keep his balance. Biting at the first thing in his range, he took a chunk out of the sail-like fin the old man was proud of and tried to pull him to the side, but lacked the strength.

Jimmy growled in an immense amount of pain!

Alex started to feel groggy, and released Jimmy. He feared that biting him had caused him to become poisoned, so he created distance, stumbling as he moved.

The elderly teacher knew that his pupil was likely running out of stamina and began turning back into a human. He was aware that the boy would need him as soon as he recovered from his enraged state, and was in a hurry.

He hadn't fought in that form in a long time.

Jimmy inhaled sharply and collapsed onto the ground as soon as he was back in his human flesh. Agony filled his eyes as the burden of the recovery process filled his body. It was fast, but it wasn't painless.

There were no traces of wounds on his body, as he regained his breath and rose to his feet.
