Valdis walked inside the meeting room where the rest of the group except for Esdeath was already seated.
"Yo, did you sleep well?" Wave immediately raised his hand and greeted him with a friendly smile.
"Good morning, I guess it was fine, I am still not used to the luxury of the palace and everything...you know, country bumpkin issues" Valdis responded in kind, without a single discomfort or overly joyous face.
'Huh? I guess I was thinking too much when I saw the boss drag Valdis into her room last night' Even Wave thought that nothing special happened.
"Good morning everyone!" Suddenly a door burst open along with Esdeath's voice filled full of energy.
"Gah!" When both Kurome and Wave looked at her beaming face they were both blinded by its brilliance.
'Is that THE BOSS?! No way, just no way!' Wave immediately shook his head and a resolute expression appeared on his face.
"How is everyone doing this fine morning?!" She asked with a loud and high-spirited voice and blinding smile.
"Who are you?! Don't think that you can fool us with such a flawed illusion. Are you from Night Raid, trying out a surprise attack right in the morning?!" Wave stepped in front of Valdis and faced Esdeath, pointing his finger at her with a battle aura enveloping him.
"..." Esdeath's beaming expression immediately turned into the coldest one possible as she started glaring at Wave.
"Oh...UGH!" *BANG!* Wave never so a kick coming his way and his back have made friends with the wall, making a small hole in it.
"S-she-is the real deal" Wave muttered with a wobbly head before his eyes rolled up and he fell face-first on the floor.
"...Idiot" Kurome spared him just one glance before she resumed eating her cookies.
"Pfff...haha" Valdis started laughing aloud after not being able to restrain it any longer, this was actually his genuine reaction.
"..." Esdeath's cold expression instantly disappeared as she started staring at Valdis laughing with a faint blush.
"...?!" Only when Valdis noticed Esdeath and Kurome staring at him did he stop laughing.
"Why did you leave without waking me up first, Valdis?! I was excited about the prospect of waking up and getting to see your sleeping face a first thing in the morning" Esdeath complained to Valdis while wearing what looked like a pouting expression.
Kurome who was eating the cookies flinched a bit and faint blush appeared on her face but she continued eating as if she hadn't heard anything.
"Uh...I didn't want to bother you." Valdis replied with averted eyes while he was scratching his cheek.
"Fufu" 'Still so shy despite what happened last night, huh?' Esdeath just released an amused chuckle without responding to him.
"Anyway, four of us are going out into the mountains to hunt today, I am in a good mood so I have an urge to hunt some danger beasts." Esdeath said with a smile but one could feel her sadism from a mile away which made Wave who just regained his consciousness flinch a bit.
'I have noticed that Stylish seems a bit suspicious of me, most likely it has something to do with Seryu and my backstory. Esdeath probably also felt something suspicious about my convincing story but she just simply doesn't care and I have also shown her that I don't care about Rebels and The Empire. I have a need for points and killing someone like Stylish should give me at least a few points, however, from this moment on, the plotline will most likely differ from the original. Some similar situations might happen now and then but since Tatsumi has zero connection to Esdeath, everyone's actions will become more unpredictable' Valdis settled on his new target, obviously, in case he won't meet Night Raid even sooner than he will be able to lure Stylish outside and separate him from the others.
"I also feel like practicing a bit, plus fresh air in the mountains is very healthy and helps in meditation." Valdis said as he started stretching his arms.
"You meditate?" Wave asked with a dubious expression.
"From time to time, it's great for erasing any doubts or regrets lingering deep in your heart. It can also help achieve higher calmness in difficult situations." Valdis shrugged his shoulders at Wave's reaction.
"How about we make groups of 2? I would like to go with Kurome since I have yet to see her fight from up close." Valdis suggested with a faint smile and it quickly changed to a sadistic one when he noticed Wave's face plastered with horror.
"Hmm...That's fine, but we will change members at night, obviously, Wave will change with you, Valdis." Esdeath frowned at the idea of Valdis going alone with Kurome but she quickly agreed before stating her conditions.
"I hope I will find a few good puppet materials out there" Kurome nodded her head with a cold smile, she wasn't concerned with whom she would team up with since it didn't matter to her.
"Hey wait, do you mean to say that you have already witnessed me fighting from up close?!" Wave pointed his finger at Valdis, only now realizing a hint of shaming in Valdis's word, unfortunately for him, everyone ignored him as Esdeath already agreed to the terms and he could only hang his head behind her.

Before they went outside, Valdis made sure to purchase the maximum amount of potions he could use to hit the bottleneck which cost him 1000 points, leaving him with only 500 to spare. The moment he hit the bottleneck, a few messages appeared in front of his eyes.

'Interesting, as of now, my raw strength and speed most likely aren't enough to overpower likes of Esdeath but this new Physique...is it some sort of ascension? To be honest, the strength level of someone like Esdeath is ridiculous and has been ridiculous even without her Teigu. I can't expect to beat her in strength and speed by just chugging miraculous potions and I can't afford to train a few more years to catch up. Well, I might not even have to be concerned about Esdeath if I will manage to drag her to my side, the bigger problem is Akame and Tatsumi.' Valdis thought as he made his way out of Esdeath's room to meet the group waiting in front of the palace.
