Wealthy couples

But Lucien who had already boarded the boat wasn't too pleased as he looked at the couples with a frown on his face.

"Hey, why are we stopping?".

Meanwhile, the ferryman's eyes glittered a little as he looked at the couples with a knowing smile.

But after hearing Lucien's voice, the ferryman felt his ears suddenly feel irritated the more he heard it.

'Ne dis rien, ne voyez-vous pas que c'est le genre de personnes que j'attendais? Ce sont des clients bien rémunérés' The ferryman thought as he looked at Lucien with a frown.

"How could I leave them after knowing that they are customers. And most of all, I still have room for 5 or more passengers, so talking in 2 more isn't anything unreasonable" The ferryman replied Lucien as he arrived back at the shore.

"bonne journée monsieur et madame. How can I be of service to you?" The ferryman said with a strangely pleasant tone that sounded quite nice in Lucien's ears.

'A golden goose huh!! Though they looked quite rich and are probably not from around here judging by their appearance" Lucien thought as he looked at the couples who were dressed quite wealthy.

The woman wore a bright flower pattern yellow sundress, together with a pair of black cutout flats to match it up.

As her hair was tied up in a ponytail with a pair of diamond pearl-shaped earrings on her ears which match the diamond pearl-shaped necklace hanging around her head.

While the man wore a brown collar T-shirt tucked in a simple black trouser with a brown pair of penny loafers to match.

Yeah! At this moment, Lucien could confirm that they didn't just look rich but they were absolutely rich.

And by the way they looked pleased with the ferryman's words it didn't take an expert to know that they were tourists.

Probably the kind of tourist that the ferryman was waiting for.

"You see, we missed our tour boat today because we were a little late. And we were wondering if you could carry us along seeing as you only have one passenger here" The man said with a smile as he looked at the ferryman.

Though his eyes couldn't be seen because of the sunglasses he wore, so it wasn't hard for Lucien not to notice the sparkling ferryman's eyes from the mirror reflection that reflected the ferryman's expression.

They were probably sparkling with greed from the amount of money that he was going to extort.

Seeing that he would be spending his time with a pair of lovey-dovey, Lucien internally groaned.

"Yes. of course, my boat is enough to carry two more people. And even if they aren't enough space, I will make one just to accommodate you two" The ferryman said.

"Thank you" The woman beside the man smiled brightly as she tucked her blonde hair behind her ears.

"Alright. How much do you charge for an hour or less?" The man replied.

"Well, if I will be carrying you two, then I will give you a discount, which means that your fee will be 28 euros an hour".

"Ptui!!"

Lucien spat into the river immediately as soon as he heard the ferryman's words.

'28 euros. I might as well spend the rest of my day in a hotel or buy some foodstuff with that amount of money'.

And although the couple didn't notice Lucien's action because they were too focused on each other to worry about a strange unfamiliar man sitting on the side of the boat.

But that couldn't be said for the ferryman as he had noticed Lucien's action but still, he didn't react because of the thought that he would lose his potential wealthy customers if he showed any rude behaviours.

But that still didn't stop him from cursing Lucien in his head.

'Putain de merge! Ñ'ose pas ruiner mon entreprise'.

"But isn't that too expensive. We should have waited for the next tour boat if I knew that it was going to be like this" The man replied as he had a little chat with the woman beside him.

"Yeah, I think we should just head back and wait" The woman said as she added a dramatic sigh at the end of her statement.

"Wait!! Wait a minute madame et monsieur. How about this. I will only charge you 25 euros. That's the best that I can do for you" The ferryman said in a hurry as he saw the couple walking away.

"Make it 20 euros and we will on our way across La seine" The man replied as he turned back immediately after halting his steps.

"Sigh!! If you put it that way then, then I don't really have a choice" The ferryman lied between his teeth as he welcomed the couples on board the boat while he internally rejoiced on today's harvests.

'Amateurs...' Lucien thought as he saw the couple smiling victoriously as though they had succeeded in playing a very sleek mind game, not knowing that it was the other way around.

"Steady" The man said as he supported the woman into the boat.

"Hah!!" But somehow, she lost her footing causing her to fall.

But fortunately, she was caught by the man's hands as his arms were wrapped around her waist, causing her to safely land on the boat.

Seeing the two couples trapped in their own world as they looked into each other eyes as though they were in a trance, Lucien could only roll his eyes as he immediately gulped down the wine to get intoxicated quickly so that he could leave here and not get to watch this nonsense.

Meanwhile, the gulping sound made by Lucien had attracted the gaze of the couples as they looked at him weirdly until the ferryman's voice sounded in their ears.

"Don't mind him, unlike the two of you who are blessed and happy with the experience brought by love, he is broken because he has discovered what happens when you lose it and fail to protect it".
