Owen's lips pressed against mine. At first it was soft like he was unsure of what to do.

At least he was doing something while I stood like a statue waiting to be pleasured like an effing idiot.

I thought he was going to break it off but his arms went around me,  as sure and hard like it held promises to carry me if my legs gave out.

Emily and I stopped in front of the car that was supposed to take me to the airport.

I could see she was putting in a lot of effort into smiling and pretending she wasn't sad to see me go.

"I can stay a couple of days if you want me to" I told her as I touched her cheek tenderly.

Emily chuckled and pushed her hair away from her face.

"And keep you from saving the world? Yesterday was beautiful and I am going to miss you but I have college to attend and you have Africa to explore. It's just for eleven months"

Now, it was my turn to be sad. I knew if I wanted to, I could stay back and listen to the secrets Emily Williamson was willing to let me in about her life and I would share the burden she was carrying and we could be together forever.

"Come on, Waylen…seriously go. I will be okay"

I nodded and kissed her cheek before I opened the car door.
