During the rest of their time in class that day, Emma did not once look up from her notes. She continued to study tirelessly and was so deep in thought that she didn't notice when others were trying to get her attention.
Mr Thomas had called her to answer a question but was answered with nothing but silence. After a few seconds of Ren trying to alert her clueless friend, she stopped trying, stood up and yelled the answer in her stead as she couldn't handle the embarrassing situation this put them both into.
Once she had sat back down, Ren started harshly nudging and prodding the girl next to her. She whispered in mock exasperation, sighing over dramatically.
"Tsk tsk, What should I do with you." She looked at her expectantly.
When Ren received no reply for over a minute her eyes twitched and she tried getting her attention again.
"You dainty dingbat, what's gotten into you?" Yet again Ren was met with silence.
She couldn't help it anymore and turned away in a huff, yet in all the annoyance, Ren couldn't help but be worried.

The class went on like this, Emma continually ignored others to the point where people might start doubting the validity of their existence.
As it was the end of the day everyone began heading home to relax, for several minutes Ren pulled and nudged, tapped and prodded the girl lost in her world.
No matter what she did she couldn't make the girl stir, she ended her efforts with a loud shriek directly into the girl's delicate and sensitive ears, however, once again nothing happened. Emma continued making notes and studying diligently, Ren couldn't stop the continuous sighs pouring out of her mouth like a waterfall. She quickly looked at the time, if she didn't hurry she'd be late.
There was something important she had to attend to, so she couldn't wait for her friend to exit this stupor of hers so they could leave together. With the last-ditch effort of smacking her cheeks lightly with no noticeable results, apart from Emma's cheeks slowly but surely becoming increasingly redder, she hurried out of the room and went home.

When Emma came to, she realised that she'd been left all alone in the classroom at school, the lights had been turned off and the doors were probably locked. Wait. The doors were probably locked…
Emma grabbed her hair and tugged at it heavily, the doors were probably locked, the lights were off so she could barely see, she was alone… She was alone. Emma continually increased the strength with which she used to pull on her hair as the stress continued to build up.
She knew she was panicking and tried to forcefully make herself calm down, she took numerous deep breaths and reduced the strength tugging her hair. It wouldn't help her levels of stress if she started to turn bald after all. She gradually calmed down and started to think rationally, it was Tuesday today, meaning even if the doors were locked she only needed to wait for one night and she'd be free to leave in the morning or after school tomorrow.
Besides, she wouldn't starve, she could get some snacks and a bottle of water from the cafeteria vending machines. Emma remembered she had no money, but to be sure she checked her wallet and emptied its contents onto the table. She sighed seeing that the only things which came out were an ID card and some lint, her stomach rumbled gently and she steeled her heart. She could just cheat the machine somehow, it wouldn't be bad. The prices were exorbitant anyway so they wouldn't lose money from a drink and some snacks. If she felt really bad she could even leave some money next time she went and had some.
She grabbed her bag and quickly stumbled in the dark over to the vending machines. She tried her luck and pressed some buttons, in hopes someone had paid but just hadn't taken anything yet. No such coincidences happened, she then bent down and searched for coins that may have rolled under the machines, but still no such luck. She sighed internally and went with different methods, she reached her arm into the bottom of the machine and tried to knock one of the snacks at the bottom of the shelves out.
She managed to move one of the sneckers bars slightly, she smiled in suspense but it caught itself on the snack next to it and didn't fall. She was about to try to knock it again when she realised… her hand was stuck. In exasperation, she cursed aloud.
"Fuck, what kind of shit luck is this. Bullshit, fucking bullshit." She sighed and held back her further complaints by biting her lips slightly.
In her fit of anger, she sat on the floor, still with her arm stuck, and slowly fell asleep.

When Emma awoke she was met with the looks of concern of the college's janitor, he was luckily still at the school at this time when he would have usually already finished his job. This was because someone had managed to block all of the guys' toilets, it was most likely on purpose seeing as it was highly unlikely they'd all be blocked at the same time on the same day. The janitor thought this was a terrible day after having to clean them all up, by hand, but realised it was somewhat good fortune as he found a student. As he noticed the girls' eyes were opening he started to speak.
"Are you… ok?" He asked as he looked at the compromising position the girl was in.
Had she been trying to steal something and got stuck? Is that why she was still here? He tried unsuccessfully to stifle a laugh. Before helping her out.
It turned out the doors hadn't been locked yet, so her stress was all for nothing, she rushed home as quickly as possible with an unbelievably red face. Luckily the janitor let her off and didn't scold her otherwise she wouldn't be able to handle the shame.
