Islet has waited eighteen long years and is eager to know the face of her soul mate. In a cruel twist of fate, she learns that the Holy One has paired her with royalty. But not just any royalty, Prince Cerulean of the neighboring country, who has recently announced his engagement to Princess Marilla of Selkie. The same princess that Islet can't stand.

“Absolutely not. It was just a ploy so that I could get them back for you. I heard the story. Your father told me.”


I frown and pick one up. It glints in the light coming from behind the prince. 


“Did you think I was pitiful? Not even able to hold on to my mother’s parting gift.”


“No, I thought you were strong. You stood up for yourself even though the chances of it working were slim to none. I really like that about you.”


‘Like.’ ‘Us.’ We were using words that were more intimate than the actions between us. I turn away so he can’t see me flushing. 


I can’t believe I’ve kissed the prince and got my mother’s earrings back.
