The kraken surged through the water to the other ship. I’m guessing because it was closer. With the arrival of the sea monster, they had lost all interest in us and now focused on firing ineffectual arrows at the creature. Tentacles the size of tree trunks slithered up each side of the hull. Men hacked at the appendages with sword and ax, but this only enraged the monster.
Both masts were swept into the sea along with a dozen seamen with a sweeping tentacle. Then the kraken wrapped the entire ship in its tentacles and squeezed. Men screamed, timbers cracked and snapped, and then gave way. The hull collapsed on itself and then pulled down to the depths and presumably to the creature’s lair. A whirlpool spun from the passage and then dissipated, leaving two masts with their canvas rigging floating on the sea. The bodies of the dead bobbed on the swells.
