My blood boiled. Who would rip me off? My sleep deprivation fueled my anger. I wanted blood as much as I needed rest. Turning, I strode in search of Sir Kay. He was Arthur’s seneschal and chief enforcer. My face and bearing must have expressed my mood because servants scattered out of my way as I stormed through the castle.
I went through the kitchen and the hall, but the former held only cooks and servants, and the latter was empty. I then went to Sir Kay’s office and found it locked.
I spotted the page, Adam, and hailed him. “Can you tell me where I can find Sir Kay?”
“Why, yes, my Lord Baron,” Adam replied. “Sir Kay is in the East Wing seeing to your suite.”
I blinked. “He what?”
“The seneschal decided to refurbish your rooms with new furniture befitting a baron. So he had me bring your things there earlier this afternoon.” Adam tilted his head at my blank expression. “Did you not know?”
