Chapter 50: A Single Tear

Cionna’s POV

When Arkadia said she had a plan, I had no idea that she meant using myself as bait for the Demon King. The last place I had expected to end up was sitting across from Lord Balast, King of the Middle Realm, with my family at a tale with the Queen of all witches.

“Thank you for meeting with me, Lord Balast,” Arkadia began.

“I came as a courtesy, Arkadia, but it appears that there is more to this meeting than I first thought. Cionna, it’s nice to see you again. You look alive and well.”

“No thanks to your daughter and her minions,” my mother spat at him.

My mom was brave beyond words to spite a powerful demon like that. I grip her hand under the table in hopes of calming her. Thankfully, she goes quiet after that.

“I can see where Cionna gets her spit-fire attitude from but do remember that your daughter is in love with one of those minions. I can safely assume this is all about Julien. Yes?”

I spoke up with my voice shaking. “What do you want to free him?”
