Chapter 30: Priest

Four days later, Melisende studied the information on the scrolls and compared it to the facts on the computer. Every time she handled the scrolls, her heart melted at the thought of Zain going all the way to the abbey to get them for her. His fierce countenance hid a surprisingly soft heart. She had no trouble believing he was capable of great cruelty or that he would kill any foe, but to her, he was only kindness. It was hard to fathom that this could be so while her own people had treated her with such cruelty.

For two days she had tried to get the door to the outside to open with no success. When Zain didn't come back, she'd worried. What if someone had seen Zain and all the knights came to hunt him? In the time spent with Zain, she'd realized how harsh humans were toward anyone or anything different.
