When the guards declared the groom's entrance, everyone's attention turned to the door. I felt a hammer on my chest. Here comes the barbarian, I thought. 

I was looking away, lowering my gaze. The man entered the wedding hall. I felt like my intestine would come out of my mouth. The sudden gulps of the guests were not going unnoticed in my ears. 

What caused the guests to respond like that? Was the man that hideous? I lost my zeal to look at him. With a heavy heart, I kept looking away until he stood in front of me. 

Slowly, I glanced at the man standing in front of me. My heart was pounding so hard that I felt like it would burst. 

I gasped. There was no way he was the alpha lord and the groom of tonight's wedding. The phenomenally handsome man from earlier was standing right in front of me. Up close, he was multiple times more attractive.

Barbaric man? Who? He was radiating such royal energy that even the noblest vampires were intimidated when he entered.

Lady Evelyn hugged Cassius’s body and confessed, ''I had chased Xavier my entire life. I made Cassius kill my omega mate and earned Xavier's sympathy.” 


My eyes widened as it was hard to swallow what Lady Evelyn had said. However, Xavier had revealed numerous times that he was mateless and Lady Evelyn wasn't his mate. 


"All my strategies for years became futile when you came to Xavier's life. And now I have lost Cassius for good. Why would I bother to keep this body when my soul has already shattered to pieces?" Lady Evelyn questioned, unleashing her power again. 


The intensity of her aura was so great that I thought my eyes would go blind. Lady Evelyn had released all of her alpha energy. I immediately covered my eyes with my forearm to protect them from the sudden exposure. 


"Lady Evelyn, don't do this," I yelled as I felt excessive heat coming from Lady Evelyn. I realized that Lady Evelyn had attempted to self-destruct.
