The Gallscream

I walked into the meadow where the twins now played. What shocked me the most was that the one entertaining Hokai was actually Teiden. Sozo looked up from the crown of flowers she was weaving and smiled and ran to me. She pulled me by my hand further into the meadow where Hokai and Teiden sat.

" I was worried you wouldn't want to play with me. " Sozo said frowning.

Sozo looked so sad and I wondered who used to play with her before I came here.

" Of course I want to play with you guys. I haven't smiled since the Almighty killed my village and my family as well. " I said my voice quivering as I remembered how they died.

" My Condolences. I don't think we have been properly introduced. " Teiden said as I sat down across from him letting Sozo climb into my lap and continue weaving her flower crown.

" My name is Tairyō Teiden, Whats yours? " He asked.

" My Name is Jūryoku Yūkei but I prefer to be called Angel. It's nice to meet you, Teiden. " I said courtly.

" Please call me Kizuato or if you'd like you may call me, Kizu " Kizu said smiling.

The smile made him look way more happy and kind but this man was a soldier and I knew otherwise.

" Thanks, Kizu. " I said smiling.

He shrugged and focused back on Hokai who held a pink butterfly.

" Look she looks so pretty! " Hokai said holding it up for Kizu to hold.

" It's very pretty. " he agreed.

Suddenly Hokai's hands turn black and the butterfly stops moving. I gasp and Hokai starts to cry.

" It's okay, Hokai! " Sozo said leaping up and running to Hokai.

She looked at the butterfly and took it gently cradling it in her hand and closing her hands. Her hands glowed so bright that I had to shield my eyes. When I looked again Sozo opened her hand and the butterfly flew off.

" What is your natural ability? " I asked as Sozo skipped over to me and sitting back on my lap.

" Creation and Resurrection. " She chirped.

I could not believe that such a small girl could wield such a powerful ability.

" Hokai can destroy anything and can manipulate dark energies. " She added.

" Wow. " I murmured.

I sat in the meadow with Hokai and Sozo, Kizu had excused himself and left the meadow and into the house. Two hours had already passed and I lay down in the meadows grass and resting my eyes

" Here! " Sozo said brightly holding up the flower crown she had been weaving.

" Is that for me? " I asked smiling.

She nodded her head and reached on her tip toes to place it snugly on my head.

" Every royal princess needs a crown! " She said smiling so brilliantly.

Without a second thought I grabbed her waist and shot to my feet and swung her in a circle. She laughed and acted as if she was flying. I put her down on her feet and smiled at her.

" I love it, Sozo. Thank you. " I said hugging her.

Then I heard a childs scream and looked paniced around and found Hokai nowhere in sight.

" Angel! Sozo! " Hokai screamed.

" Go get the others, hurry! " I yelled over my shoulder already running towards the sound of Hokais' voice.

I ran through the meadow into the dark woods searching through every tree and every gnarled branch. Finally I found him but what held him made my stomach feel like acid. Up in a branch Hokai was dangling in a monster's hand by his throat. The monster was all dark and looked as if it was made of shadow. Its body was like a human but it wasn't flesh and its body became darker with every second it held Hokai. I realized then that the monster was feeding off of Hokai and had to act.

" Let Him Go! " I yelled. My feet and hands were glowing now and to my surprise I leaped through the air and landed on the branch. I kicked the monster not knowing if I would grow through him but to my delight I kicked him in the face. I grabbed Hokai before he could fall and he put his arms around my neck and hooked his legs around my waist. He was breathing hard and sweat covered his face and pitch black blood dripped from his nose. He felt too weak and as I got out of the tree and ran into the meadow Hokai slumped in my arms.

I ran into the meadow and saw the others running towards me and I ran head on to them.

" It was draining him, feeding off his ability!" I huffed as I reached them. Sozo was crying but motioned for me to lay him in the grass.

I lay him gently down and let Sozo help him.

" Only a Gallscream could do this to him. Did it look like living shadow? " Kara said as I kneeled in the grass on the opposite side of Sozo.

" Yes, It was. " I huffed gently brushing Hokais' tangled bangs.

His eyes were closed and he wasn't breathing normal his breaths came out labored. Tears fell as I thought about how familiar this felt. I hope I wasn't too late to help him.

Sozo glowed from head to toe and I had to sheild my eyes as both Hokai and Sozo glowed. It was a blinding white with multicolored sparkles that floated inside the brilliant light. Only when they ceased to glow did I uncover my eyes. I looked to find Hokai fluttering his eyes open and everyone seemed to let out shaky breaths. I didn't know I was crying until Sozo wrapped me in a hug.

" You got to him just in time, Angel and for that we all thank you. " Kaku said.

" I would do it for anyone. " I said furiously wiping my tears away and trudged into the house.

I was so angry that I had allowed myself to get close to both Hokai and Sozo. I have only been here for a couple of hours and already I was setting my heart up for heart break. I ran to my room and grabbed my unpacked bag and started out of the house.

" Where are you going? " Kaen asked behind me.

I jumped startled and rounded to find Kaen not even three feet away. I sighed heavily.

" Somewhere I can't be at fault for your deaths. " I said tears coming back again as I remembered how I couldn't save Ryoshi. I still blamed myself for not seeing the guard slip past me and behind us.

" You weren't responsible for what happened back there. " He said pointing back to the group who now looked my way. Now Hokai was up on his feet holding a crying Sozo. Sozo would be the only one who could ever make me stay here and as she looked up at me I think she knew that because she ran full speed at me.

I go to one knee trying to tell myself that it would be my last time kneeling. I knew I would be better off alone but I just found people like me and a place safe from the almighty. I realized as Sozo ran into my waiting arms that I didn't have the heart to hurt Sozo by leaving.

" Please don't leave! " Sozo cried.

I looked up to find Hokai crying behind Sozo.

" Please don't go! You saved me, You can't leave! " He said hugging me too.

I realized how much I missed hugging people and as I hugged the twins I realized that I didn't have the heart nor the will, to leave them.

" Okay, I'll stay. If not for me then for you guys. " I said smiling looking at only the twins to let them know that they are the only reason I would stay. They smiled and I smiled back but even brighter.
