Back From The Dead

After another four days we finally reached civilization but this time instead of a welcoming small little village we stood in front of a city wall. The city's walls were made out of cold and unforgiving stone slabs. The gate doors were even worse. The wood was now black and leeched of light from years of neglect. Over head ravens cawed and a shiver ran through my bones.

" Relax, it's just a glamour. We use it to keep everyone on the run from the Almighty safe and hidden. Think about it who would want to enter a city with gates that look like this? " He whispered.

" Good Point " I whispered back.

Sozo held onto my hand and had been for most of the journey, besides the time she spent on my shoulder.

Tenki approached the doors and knocked on it three times and waited a few seconds before chirping like a robin.

The doors were flung open and a pretty but tough looking girl peered out. She had mocha skin and green curly hair and with a shock I realized Kara and her resemble each other. This girl was related to Kara

" Kara? " The girl's voice said disbelieving.

" Alexa! " Kara cried running into her arms.

" I thought you were dead, they found your blood on the stone they came and told mother that you fell off of a building. How are you still alive? " Alexa cried.

" I didn't fall off of a building, I was shoved off, by Dallan. " She cried on her shoulder.

" How did you survive the fall? " Her sister said now holding her at arms length.

" This. " She said.

Her hand began to glow bright green and she gently made an upward pulling motion and a plant grew from the black dirt.

Alexa gasped in surprise.

" I am not human Alexa, I am a Rare Blood. These people are the Rare Blood Guard and so am I. " She said already wiping her tears away. We started walking into the city and I glanced back just in time to see the doors slam shut.

" They're looking for you! All of you and they really want you dead." Alexa said, jabbing a finger at me. They know your face, It's all over the news. Everyone here should be afraid of what you can do but instead they see hope They see a future where they are free and don't have to worry about being found. You stood up to the Almighty and they believe in you, all of you. Do Not Let Them Down. " She said.

" We won't, I promise you that. " I said firmly.

" What did It cost you? " Alexa asked, pointing a glare at me.

" Excuse me? " I asked confused as to what she was asking.

" What did your having powers cost you. What did you lose? " She asked.

" Everything. I lost my father, I lost my sister, I lost three of my brothers. I lost the only brother I let get close. They took everything I ever cared about away. " I answered.

" What is your last name? " She asked questioningly.

" Jūryoku, Why? " I asked.

" What was your favorite brother's name? " She said whirling around.

" I don't understand. Why are you asking me this? " I asked angrily,

" What is his name? " She asked in annoyance.

" Why do you want to know? " I asked.

" I'll explain after you tell me his name. " She said angrily.

" His name was Ryoshi! His name was Jūryoku Ryoshi. " I yelled, a single tear falling.

Her eyes widened.

" What is your name? " She asked softly.

" My name is Angel. " I said.

" Angel, Your brother is not dead, but he isn't the same way you remember him." She said softly.

I was glad that Tenki was nearby because I stumbled and nearly landed on the floor. Tenki was the only thing keeping me off the floor. Denial took me further under wave after wave. It wasn't possible.

" Lair, I sat on the ground and felt his body slump, I was there when his heart stopped beating. I was there! He died in my arms, His blood stained my clothes! " I gasped.

" But did you stay? Did you bury him? " She asked softly.

" N-no, he told me to run and I did. " I sobbed.

" Then you weren't there when she came for his body. She brought him back to life and brought him here. He is alive, Angel. " She said.

I bolted up onto my feet and sprinted down the streets shouting his name and scanning the crowd for my brother. People realized who I was and they parted giving me plenty of room to search.

" Ryoshi! " I yelled.

But no one reacted. I continued down alleys shouting out for my brother. probably looking on the edge of going mad, but I didn't care. That woman said he was here if It turns out that it wasn't him I was surely going to shatter like glass and no way of ever putting the pieces together to make me whole.

I looked in homes giving some people a scare, I just mumbled an apology and went on my hunting journey. I had searched everywhere all through the bustling city and I couldn't find him. I walked back to the entrance of the city where I left the group. When I got there a figure that stood 6'1 wearing a cloak with a hood stood talking to my wide eyed group with his back to me. Then the breeze blew and I smelled the very distinct smell of smoke and jade that I used to love smelling when I woke up from a nightmare.

Sozo saw me before the rest and pointed towards me and the figure turned and dropped his cloak hood. Alexa was right he wasn't the same and everything about him had been altered but his hair. His hair was the same color still white but his hair was now spiky. His eyes were a mesmerizing white that seemed to glow. It was like living lightning. The sight of him brought tears and I fell to my knees before I could reach him but to my surprise he was already there ready to catch me. I would ask him what that was about later but right now I just wanted to hold him and try to convince myself that he was real and alive.

" R-Ry-Ryoshi! " I cried burying my face in his chest as he sat there cradling me.

" I knew you would escape, you always were a sneaky fox. I missed you so much Ang. " He whispered planting a kiss on my white hair.

" How, How did you come back. You were dead but now... you're alive! " I sobbed.

" I'll explain everything later. You need to have a clear mind when I explain so cry all your tears out now. I am alive, I will not leave you again. " He said in that stern voice that always made me giggle.

I smiled through tears as he held me close.

My brother was really alive.
