Epilogue: One Year Later

I plop down on the sofa, exhausted after being cramped in a plane all day long. I look around at the bare apartment. There's only two boxes, my suitcases, one couch and a bed already set up in the bedroom. Nothing on the walls, no decorations, nothing. And yet, I have never felt happier in my entire life. Today is the first day of a new chapter in my life and I'm floating on cloud nine. "Jagiya, I finished putting the groceries away. I accidentally dropped the eggs but I'll go get some in the morning so we can have breakfast before work." Namjoon drops down on the couch beside me, putting an arm around my shoulders and propping his feet up. I kiss him on the palm of his hand and lay down, resting my head on his lap.

We enjoy the silence together as I think back on the hardships of this past year and how happy I feel now that it's over. Three. That's the number of jobs I worked just to be able to save enough money to move to Seoul. Early mornings, late nights, sometimes all-nighters and barely any days off. With BTS's comeback and touring, I can literally count the amount of times Namjoon and I got to see each other on one hand. One of those times, they had a concert in a city four hours away from me so I drove there just to see them and Bang PD let me stay in Namjoon's room the two nights they were there. It was a short-lived weekend together but we took what we could get. Short weekend trips, FaceTime any chance we got, quick calls and texts before bed. Sometimes one of us would end up falling asleep while on the phone. He surprised me for my birthday when he showed up at my job with roses and balloons. He met my parents that weekend. It was also the same weekend we said "I love you" for the first time. We both worked hard for our future, just to be where we are right now. Our home. Our first apartment together. We were lucky enough to find a place near the BigHit building so Namjoon wouldn't have to travel far to work, especially since he works late into the night most nights. Bang PDnim was nice enough to get me an interview to be Homme's new assistant since their last assistant quit to stay home with her new baby. Homme's manager hired me so I'll get to do something I love and have lunch with Namjoon everyday.

A year of hard work and sacrifices from us both lead me back here, the place I fell in love with Kim Namjoon. My home. My warmth. My love. "Tired?" I look up at Namjoon as he plays with my hair, "Hmm. . . depends." He looks at me confused, "Depends? On what?" I smile at him, "Well, we do have a new bed and all. . ." He takes my hint and laughs, "Ahh, I see. In that case. . ." He stands up, lifting me in his arms at the same time, making me laugh as he carries me off to our bedroom.
