Holy Moon Child

Zeke's fist glowed with a silver power as he faced off against Dreyfus. With the buff given to him by his powers, he was able to match the tester, but he knew that Dreyfus was not truly going all out. The only reason why he was not being trashed right now was not just because Dreyfus was going easy on him, but also because of his special status as the Holy Moon Child of Magair.

Magair was a small town in God's Sanctum, but it was a town with great significance. It was fabled that in ancient times of war, a God was traveling through the area. He had stopped at a small, underdeveloped town and wanted to rent a room to stay the night, but had been refused, as he was an outsider. During that time, a couple had welcomed him to stay the night with them, and as thanks, he had blessed the woman. The woman had a child some time later, and when that child was born, the day turned to night, and a full moon hung in the sky.

This full moon was not a normal one. God's Sanctum had two moons, but this time, only a silver moon had appeared, and it hung directly over the town. A beam of light had come down and shone on the child, blessing the child, and granting that child special privileges and powers. One such power was that of a Moon Element, a very rare element.

Ever since then, that blessing has been passed down through many generations of that couple's family, and the blessed child had come to be known as the Holy Moon Child. The Holy Moon Child of the current generation was Zeke, and he shouldered a lot of burdens. That was part of the reason why he had enrolled in the Imperial Magic Academy.

After five whole minutes of intense fighting, Zeke was beginning to feel tired. That as when Dreyfus finally stopped and raised his hand, signaling the end of the test.

"Well done. I have to say, you are quite strong, for your age." He nodded at Zeke and turned to face the judges. "What do you think about his talents, Judges?" He asked them.

While they had been fighting, the judges had been analyzing different aspects of Zeke's strengths and weaknesses. They had also estimated his talents and how far he could go. By the end of the fight, they had already come up with a result.

"Combiner. Class A." One judge, an old man with white hair announced.

Zeke's eyes widened with surprise and joy! He had made it to class A!

"Congratulations, kid. You can leave now." Dreyfus grinned and waved. Zeke happily nodded and quickly left the arena through another door. It led him through a path that he was not too familiar with, but the organizers of these tests had been prepared, and had set up multiple signs to help lead the way. Before long, he returned to the waiting hall, and made his way over to Leon.

"Leon, guess who's a member of class A of the Combiners!" He whisper-yelled so that he would not draw too much attention.

"Wow, congrats, buddy. I'm happy for you." Leon grinned along with his roommate. He was really happy that Zeke had gotten what he wanted. At least, he would not have to deal with a moping Minotaur.

"Thanks. My parents will be happy when I send them a letter about it." Zeke smiled fondly.

"What? You can't use your comm to send them a message now?" Leon frowned and asked.

"Oh, no. My parents are in the Sanctum. They wanted to stay home, so they did not cross over to Earth. I usually send them letters whenever I can." The large Minotaur explained.

"Oh, I see. Well, I am sure they will be proud of you." Leon smiled. He turned around to relax once more when he suddenly heard his name.

The voice was loud and clear through the speakers, and Leon jumped up.

"Best of luck, Leon." Zeke waved at Leon as he rushed off.

"Thanks!"

Leon quickly made his through the hall, and through the doors that led to the testing area. There, he came across the same sight that Zeke did. The arena rested at the bottom, with a thirteen people speaking in it.

"Over here!" Someone called out to Leon. Lean quickly made his way down into the arena. This time, it was not Dreyfus that was testing him, but a woman. Dreyfus was the Combiner tester, while she was the Caster tester.

"Hello, I am Anna. It is nice to meet you, Leon." Anna extended her hand for a handshake. Leon shook it and looked around expectantly. He noticed that the other twelve people had gone to sit in the stands, and were waiting for the testing to begin.

"Let us start the testing. You can cast all the magic spells you can, and I will block it. If I see any chance to attack you, I will do so, and you will be expected to block it. Do you understand that?" Anna asked.

"Yes, I understand. Lean replied and nodded his head.

"Very well, then. Let us begin." Anna said and walked a few meters back to create a sizeable gap between them. She raised her right hand, and a ball of fire came into being above her palm. "Block this, and we cam begin." She said and suddenly flung the fireball at him.
