Explosion, Explosion.

Sasuke rushed as fast as he could. On the way to the stadium, he barked orders to some jonin, telling them to begin evacuation measures.

The scroll he found... was deciphered too slow. If it was a few hours earlier, he would have stopped the Chunin exams and gotten the Kages on board.

There was no time.

As he ran, he noticed a shopkeeper staring at the sky, agape. He stopped and looked up.

There, on the barrier dome that covered Konoha, were some specks of white surrounded by cracks.

'Shit!'

.........

"You're not qualified to be a ninja."

Naruto stated down at his son who couldn't meet his eyes.

The audience gasped in shock.

"What's wrong with Onii-cha?" Asked Himawari worriedly. She couldn't understand what was happening down in the arena. Hinata just hugged her tight with furrowed brows.

"Let's go. The exam's still underway," Naruto said in a low voice.

He wanted to direct the attention away from such an affair. Away from his son. Leaving was the best choice for now.

"We'll talk about this later."

Later?

Talk?

Boruto furiously snapped his wrist away from Naruto's grip.

"Later?"

"You'll talk to me later?"

His throat felt tight.

It was always later. Later. Later. Later.

"Do you actually have that kind of time, Dad?!" He yelled.

Naruto frowned.

The embarassment with everyone watching him, anger at such an offhand reply and the sadness caught up to Boruto.

He didn't want this either. Shortcuts were only a means to an end. Cheating was acceptable to him too. In the first place, he didn't care about this exam at all. Genin, Chunin, who cares about that?

All he wanted was Naruto to be there.

"If you had talked to me and taught me in the first place, then things would never have come to this!"

Yes, it wouldn't have. He wouldn't have bothered with such methods if his father just stayed with him like he used to. Was it... too much to ask?

Naruto stood there as Boruto glared at him after his outburst.

Before he could say anything-

"That's too bad, isn't it, Nanadaime?" A cheerful, loud voice came from the side.

Two men came up to them, interrupting the stage. One of them had a videocamera on his shoulder.

"We would have referred to have announced this along with his victory.

Naruto frowned.

"It's you guys?" Boruto exclaimed.

The stadium screen flickered and changed to the camera the man was holding. It displayed a broadly smiling and magnified Katasuke waving at everyone on the stands.

"Ladies and gentlemen gathered today!"

"Have you all see with your very own eyes Boruto's display?" His voice boomed from the speakers.

The Kages leaned forward in their seats. "What's all this about?"

Gaara crossed his arms and leaned back. Konoha's Chunin exams always have something or the other blowing up. Well, can't complain since I too was the cause of one.

"What the heck, Katasuke?!" Naruto yelled.

"He may have been disqualified due to breaking regulations," he ignored him and continued, "But the real power of the ninja technology that he displayed was real!"

Everyone stared at him dumbfounded.

"I would like to take this chance to-"

CRASH!

A dust cloud rose up behind them.

?!

All stared at the centre as the dust lifted and revealed a large, bearded man in a strange garb. His eyes were colourless and he was completely white from head to toe, almost blending in with the dust.

Naruto swiftly pulled Boruto, "Boruto, get behind me! Hurry!"

This appearance, was familiar to him and he panicked.

The audience realised something was really going wrong. "What's that!?"

"Hey, something fell into the ring!"

Katasuke lost it as his announcement was interrupted. He furiously confronted him, " Just what do you think you are doing? This place is-"

"Don't! STAY AWAY FROM HIM!" Naruto tried to stop him.

The white man raised his oversized arm and- Wham!

The arena under him was crushed under his fist. The force of it sent all within the area stumbling back.

Katasuke and the cameraman were blown away.

Naruto grabbed his son and braced himself on the turning ground.

Crack! Prushh! Krrraaakth!

The breaks travelled to the edge of the arena and climbed up the stadium walls.

"Uwaagh!"

"Aaaahh!!!"

The spectators screamed and backed up rushing for the exits.

It was an invasion!

An enemy attack!

The Kages got up front their seats ready to deal with the new threat.

Gaara called Kankuro behind him. This scene, the fist time he saw it, the Hokage died.

Naruto, the current Hokage, needed to be protected.

All sorts of strategies rushed through their minds. Evacuation of citizens, shielding the people close to the attack, securing the area and capture of the criminal was priority.

The pillars holding the stands crumbled and the roof collapsed. Before the rubble hurt any of the people, the shinobi sitting there jumped to action.

Sakura punched away large bouldering concrete straight to the sky.

Temari, sitting a few seats below, waved her massive fan and blew away the debris without touching a single person.

"What the hell is going on?" She yelled.

"I don't know but for now get everyone to safety!" Sakura shouted back.

Someone screamed at the other side. "The ceiling is falling here too!!"

Everyone ducked and cowered. But, right before they were crushed, a massive wave of sand blanketed over them, cushioning the falling concrete. It wrapped around some of the relatively intact columns and propped up the rest of the ceiling.

That was the Kazekage, Gaara. He descended to the spectator stands where his rookies were and secured the stadium roof from further collapse with a mountain of sand he summoned from who knows where.

"Shinki!" He called his foster son who was raring to jump down into the arena, "Don't misassess your own combat ability against your opponent. You are not his match. Right now you need to focus on evacuating these people!"

Shinki stopped is advance. "Yes, Father," he replied, slightly disappointed.

On the other side, more people screamed. The upper seating itself began collapsing downward.

Swit! Swit!

Whip-like chakra threads attached themselves to the falling civilians and fished them to safety on the ground.

Kankuro, the Raikage and the others lifted large slabs to free some from under.

Some shinobi began directing the crowd towards the exits.

Naruto held Boruto tight as he watched the whole catastrophe. This was his first time hosting the Chunin exam and things already are in complete chaos. And there was a dangerous terrorist right in front of him.

"Boruto," he said urgently, putting him down, "it's dangerous here, hurry and go with every one else!"

Before Boruto could reply, a flicker of white appeared behind Naruto.

A slender man in a white flowy veil and a white kariginu hunting robe materialised midair.

"DAD!" Boruto tried to warn Naruto but he was too close.

Naruto was kicked away.

Whump! Woosh! Crash!

Naruto was blasted right into the stadium walls.

Boruto was completely shocked on the ground.

The delicate faced man with noble features stepped down from the air.

Boruto gasped and turned over to see the terrorist right above him.

His veil floated freely around him like a halo, as if he wasn't a part of this world. An otherworldly celestial.

Just like the other large man, his eyes were colourless and he had two forward pointing horns on his head.

On the stands, Mitsuki and Sarada were helping in evacuation.

"I'm going to check over on that side. Look after this kid okay?" Sarada told Mitsuki.

Crump!

"Sarada!"

The stands under her collapsed inwards.

Woosh!

Before she could land, she was scooped into a gentle embrace.

"Sasuke!"

"Dad!"

Sasuke had arrived.

He landed within the arena.

He took a once over of Sarada. "Looks like you're not hurt."

He bent to place her down but-

BOOOM!

A large fist once more descended right where he was, blasting the ground apart.

"Guess this isn't much of a greeting," said Sasuke a few meters away from his original position.

"I still haven't paid you back for my horn!" Roared the massive white man. From his forehead extended a horn with a broken tip.

Looks like this wouldn't be an easy second meeting.

"Aww what, you didn't like it?" Quipped Sasuke.

"I guess you would have preffered I cut it shorter."

"That cocky mouth of yours," declared the man, " I'll make sure it never spouts off again!"

Karankoron. Karan koron.

While these two were facing off, Boruto watched the man in front of him slowly walking over with his single tooth tengu geta clacking to where his father was. He completely disregarded him and kept his eyes trained on the gap where he landed.

"Guh!"

"Katondan- Homura!"

Boruto raised his apparatus and released a flaming bullet.

That caught his attention and he turned around.

He lifted his palm and the bullet disappeared to nothing.

"Absorbed?"

He man smiled gently. On his palm was a strange orb of red with faint, black, concentric circles.

"Damn it!" Boruto cursed and shot multiple more.

Guiiii Zourrtss!

All the bullets amalgamated into one massive fireball and steadily got absorbed into his hand.

Crackle.

One sliver of flame caught the edge of his veil.

He hmphed and flung it off to the side, completely revealing his pale, long hair and horns.

He loomed right over Boruto, observing this child crawling on the ground.

Flicker.

Whoosh!

Naruto blinked behind him and launched a side kick. He dodged and Naruto rolled forwards to envelope in Boruto.

He gritted his teeth and pushed off the ground strongly to run.

"You are not getting away."

He raised his hand. Strongly his hand was covered in black and froze in place.

His body stiffened as he felt worm-like creatures crawly up his body and hold him in place.

"Hrmm?"

There were branching, black tentacles wrapping around his shoulder.

To the side, his accomplice also was frozen in place with his massive axe not moving a single inch closer to Sarada.

Kageshibari no Jutsu!

Shikamaru hid behind the front row seats and held his hands together, keeping his technique active.

"I don't know what you want and you're just running around doing whatever you want so you can stay right there!" Yelled Shikamaru from above.

The man shook as he resisted against the binds. "Hmph!"

He unfurled his other hand and-

Guiiiiin.

The shadows were absorbed into a second red orb.

Shikamaru grunted in pain as he felt his chakra and shadows get severed away from him. "He absorbed my shadows?"

"That's a good technique," complimented the nobleman, "I quite like it."

While the two were occupied with Shikamaru, Naruto and Sasuke and their kids regrouped on the other side of the arena.

"Boruto! Are you okay?" Asked Sarada.

"Are you okay?" Boruto asked back.

There was a small lull in the chaos.

"Who are these guys?" Naruto asked.

"The big one is Otsusuki Kinshi. The little one is Otsusuki Momoshiki."

Sasuke began his briefing. "The contents of that scroll, I'll leave out the details but they're essentially a warning of these two's attack."

"They're after the chakra fruit. In other words, the Tailed Beast's Chakra inside you."

Naruto felt realisation wash over him.

The two white men rose into the sky.

"You there! I'm the one you have business with, right? Don't drag everyone else into this!"

Naruto knew. He had to focus their attention on him to keep everyone else safe.

"It appears they're somewhat informed. Have they read Kaguya's scroll?"

Truly, they shouldn't have let that Uchiha get away.

"They refine 'Red Earth' from the chakra fruit and make it into something like a drug," continued Sasuke, "one that strengthens them and prolongs their lives."

In other words, an elixir of immortality.

"Oooaaahh! So you even know about Red Earth?" Momoshiki pulled out a round marble. "Now that's a surprise."

"In that case you should comprehend how marvellous of a thing this is," he twirled the marble in his hand, " instantly, easily, with no work at all, you can aquire true power."

Boruto watched him smile down at them. His eyes widened and he looked at the apparatus on his wrist.

"Then you'd simply be a coward that relies on doping!"

Boruto flinched at Naruto's reply.

"That's not true power at all!"

"Hmph. Nothing but inferior lifeforms afterall." Momoshiki popped the red marble into his mouth.

"Very well. You shall then comprehend this true power."

Like before, he raised his arm. Above him, a large mass of ink black grew covered in flaming streaks.

A strange technique that mixed up Shikamaru's Shadow and the Homura Bullets Boruto shot at him.

My technique is in there too!

Naruto wasn't sure what it was but, things like that, were extremely dangerous.

Grrt. His teeth clashed.

On the stands, people were still evacuating.

If that came down...

"Impossible..." Sarada cried, slack jawed. That mass was the size of the stadium!

Boruto looked at Sarada sweating in fear. He made a handsign and a clone flanked from the other side Sarada.

All of this... might just be my fault. So, I've got to protect her!

"How futile."

Momoshiki raised two fingers and separated a flaming wisp from the mass. Then, he hurtled it down.

Boruto raised his guard to cover himself and Sarada.

The impact of it covered a quarter of the stadium.

Fwoooo..

Momoshiki smirked above clouds of his own creation.

The dust cleared.

As well as his smirk.

Buuuuum!

A golden light flickered into his sight. It was dense and warm and surrounded all the people within the stadium in small barriers.

The Hokage, Uzumaki Naruto, stood there, glowing deep. The people beside him and he were encompassed in a Chakra shield the shape of a vicious fox head.

His hands were pressed together as he opened up his rusty chakra pathways again, pumping out golden light.

"What? What is this?" Boruto stammered.

"Seventh?!" Sarada exclaimed looking at the chakra. It was warm and powerful, almost burning.

Boruto had never seen this.

My Dad... had this kind of power?

He could only watch as his father protected them.

Bsh.

Sasuke connected his only hand to the chakra and input his own.

"Use my chakra as well. If you're defeated, it's over for us," said Sasuke. Naruto was truly not in the best state.

"Sorry.... Thanks, Sasuke."

Momoshiki studied the outline of the glaring golden fox head below him. He hmphed in annoyance. "What an insolent display."

He waved his arms and pelted the fox with many bullets. Each bullet pressed the golden shield lower and lower into them. The force of it hammered them little by little into the ground.

Naruto grunted but a particularly strong bullet shattered his chakra shield. He and Sasuke used chakra suction to keep themselves adhered but Boruto and Sarada were flung down to the ground.

Momoshiki used increasingly larger swings as his face crinkled into a scowl.

Finally, one of Boruto's clones caved to the pressure.

"KuKuku... How long can you hold out, I wonder?"

Outside, the people were still running for their lives.

Hinata hugged her daughter as she watched the stadium crumble where her husband and son were. Himawari grabbed her tightly, staring with open mouthed horror.

Soon, Momoshiki lost his patience.

"This is the end!" He stated and flung the entire mass at them.

Closer and closer descended upon them, a volatile death.

Naruto arrived at a decision.

"Sasuke," he called in a whisper," look after the children."

Sasuke saw a small grin forming on his lips. His double slit pupils and yellow irises conveyed him everything.

"I will," he replied.

Boruto realised something. "Dad?"

His voice trembled.

"What are you doing?"

"Alright!" Naruto pumped himself up.

He pressed his hand over his belly, where his seal was carved. "Let's do this, Kurama! You'd better not have gotten rusty!"

And from within came a thundering voice of a demon.

"That's my line, Naruto! Let's give him all we've got!"

Naruto clapped his hands and roared. A flood of dense chakra erupted from him.

"Rrraaaaaaaaaggggghhhh!!"

His stance widened as he burned his chakra pathways with liquid light.

It hurt so much.

But his child was behind him, granting him strength.

A marked, golden, half-human, half-fox giant formed above him and grabbed the mass with its claws.

Its mouth cranked wide open as another super condensed chakra ball- a bijuudama- congealed in front of it.

A shot was enough.

A split second decision.

And the fox head swallowed it back.

Krrraakaww!

The entire stadium crumbled.

The fox clenched its jaws tight, not letting it leak out.

"Why? Why isn't my Dad blasting it?"

Sasuke shielded the children under him. "If he wanted, Naruto could blow that attack away...But it'd take all the surrounding lands here along with it."

Momoshiki disdained Naruto holding back.

"So instead, you plan to use your body as a shield and absorb everything?"

"Such absurd ways of thinking are clearly a sign of a lower lifeform."

Boruto then understood.

No... that can't be?

Dad?

Chakra exploded.

All was bathed in a blinding golden light. The sky and earth swept away.

The world slowed, for him, his blue eyes.

His sloppy father.

The no-good, flunky guy.

The one who overcame all that and became Hokage.

It's not Naruto now that you should know, Boruto,

but everything Naruto has been up till now.

Wooooommmmmmm

"Daaaadddd!!"

A terrified cry.

And so, Naruto smiled for him.

Author's Thoughts in the process of writing:

I may have gone down a rabbit hole. There is no need for me to learn so much Japanese history but here we are. Sigh. I suppose the main characters and Kurama are the reason. Sigh. Indra, Asura, Kyubi no Kitsune, Chang e, Matatabi, Son Goku. Lots of Buddhist and folk legends here plus some famous warriors from the eastern side. I guess I can take liberties and make Samurai more relevant.

I wonder what the readers would think after I show my face(?) after so long. Well, let's make this a mega chappie then. I hope they don't kill me in exchange for this small bribe.

It seems like writing this book is indirectly forcing me to watch Boruto. Can't believe I'm still on manga chapter 4 after writing 20 chapters.

Did I or did I not write about the fight between Sasuke and the two dudes? Oh well, the title video in chapter 17 has the whole sequence. I'm not writing it out.

I think I am having fun with the sfxs. Karankoron! Btoom! Whiyuuum! Kata kata! Buu-fon! Badum-tss!

Sounds are fun. It's better than writing Clatter, Clack, Tap Tap, Thump and stuff. OK maybe Thump is OK. Tmp tmp is cuter tho.

Flung, blown away, blasted away, hurtled, whooshed, exploded, launched, rolled, blinked... I'm running out of words for 'people being yeeted to beyond'.

This is starting to feel like I am describing Momoshiki a little too nicely. I guess I was too taken by a man in a veil.

Aww. He took off his veil. 8 star rating reduced to 2 star.

Wow. I completely stopped any more descriptions of him. I see. Veils, huh?

Turns out, it is hard to type while I lay on my right side but easy while on my left. No. Keeping arm raised is hard.

Note to self: THE EDIT BAN IS IN PLACE UNTIL DRAFT CHAPTERS HAVE BEEN EXHAUSTED AND REDRAFTING NEEDED. EFFECTIVE NOW.

Publishing attempt #8. [3330 words]

Come on! This arc is about to reach the peak! Look, if you finish this, you can reward yourself with a cliffhanger!

So close. So close! The Chunin exams are finally, finally, FINALLY destroyed and over! Gosh! I can finally down some crack and write whatever I want!!! Ahahahaha!!!

All cannon events! Just you wait! I am going to change your contexts!
