All the girls placed their hands on his back as Kurayami wanted them to see it. He did not plan to tell anyone of his true self as that was something only he had to know. But if they could see what his soul looked like just maybe they would understand him a little more.
A Soul Scape was very different from a mindscape which mages used all the time. It was much more profound which was why a goddess like Amaterasu was the one doing it.
Among mortals, only ancient mages like Solomon, Faust, Merlin, or even Elder Liches and Necromancers would have laid eyes on their souls. Things changed when it came to supernatural races as most had the potential to interact with their soulscape in time.
Kurayami was just one of the many who desired such a power. If this did not fix his issue or begin to remedy it, she would speak to her mother on his behalf. For now, she would do what she could as by helping him she hoped to have a better relationship with him.
Already she was seeing more issues arising from the 5 clans. She was scared that they would do something without her consent
'If those fools ever take someone from him there won't be a world left to rule over. With a soul like this, it is only a matter of time before he becomes a being without equal.
She looked at Kurayami and explained some more to him.
"Rember Kurayami, Being able to interact with your soul will lead to several benefits, but could also lead to the destruction of the soul."
"I understand."
Amaterasu only did this for the girls as Kurayami trusted them. She looked up at them and closed her eyes as she decided to not hesitate to help him. That was what family was all about and she had already accepted both him and his sister as her own.
"Focus. When I looked at it it was just me, now I am making all gaze at it. Kurayami, you are going to have to focus even more as the moment you see it, it will allow you to enter it at any time. This will serve you well if you can use it properly."
He closed his eyes and lowered his guard for a very rare moment of trust. To Amaterasu, it was like a mountain had just been removed from Kurayami's back. She realized that he must always be on guard no matter what.
It was only in recent times with him allowing the girls to sleep in his room that he had begun to relax. That brought more questions as she could feel that there was something inherently wrong with him. He felt like someone who went through Hell and back.
'Why?'
She stopped as it was not her place to meddle with his personal affairs. A small bright light emerged from her hands which entered Kurayami's head just like before. However this time she brought along the girls to look at his soul with him.
Very quickly they were back into Kurayami's soulscape where he laid eyes on his soul. The most interesting one was Kurayami as he finally got to see what the big deal was with his soul.
The moment he had gazed upon his soul he could feel a certain way. It was just as she described an ocean of Death energy so potent that it threatened to snuff out all life. To balance it out an ocean of Holy Fire, Holy Lightning, light magic and more kept things in check.
If that was not all he could feel that Shin's power was being taken in by his soul and vice versa. Now that both of his Longinous had fused they were being upgraded to keep up with the overwhelming power of this place.
The girls all kept close to Amaterasu as this place was horrifying. If not for his other affinities, it would just be a sea of death. Now that she was here, Akeno felt an extreme chill as she was connected to this place.
Here, she began to feel what he felt every waking moment. Paranoia, loathing, wrath, greed, and an obsession with more power. She hugged herself which made him glance at her.
'Akeno, if it gets too bad-'
'No. I am fine. It's just feeling this it's overwhelming.'
He looked away from her as he gazed at the giant spinning vortex which was the center of his soul. It called to him, that was where he belonged.
"This is my soul. Welcome."
Raynare gazed around and felt a sense of forboding.
"How are you not insane?"
"This has been how it always has been. I am quite mad already."
Raynare shook her head.
"Souls are not supposed to be like this."
"Mine is."
"Exactly. How you don't see that as an issue is worrying."
Esdeath quieted her down.
"It's fine Raynare. He hasn't gone insane yet nor will he. You wanted to come here for a reason yes?"
He nodded.
"Now that I am here, I have an idea. If you will just stand back."
He loudly whistled causing Shin appeared in front of him. The dog was the size of a grizzly bear and around his neck was a flaming collar which represented Incinerate Anthem. Next to him was the giant Tyrant that was radiating lightning, and flames.
Ulrik and his Bicorn were both here along with Blitz and Aurora. All of his familiars were here as when they were connected to his soul. Unlike others, having them seemed to bring a balance to it and calmed the sea of death.
His two bound blades Rebellion and Submission took their place in front of him. Rebellion on his right side and Submission on the left as the hands he used them with.
"My most trusted are here."
He reached out and gripped the handles of both swords as he looked around his soulscape. All of his pets surrounded him so he finally knew what he had to do to push to the next level.
"Amaterasu, you take everyone out of here. Things are going to get dangerous for anyone not connected to my soul."
Amaterasu did not want to stay a moment longer in his soulscape as it felt like the longer she was here the longer she was being suppressed. That was a side effect of both Shin and Kurayami's soul which was not welcoming to divinities.
"Certainly, I don't want to spend another second in this place. It is terrifyin-, please forgive me."
He shook his head.
"I understand. Death energy is not welcoming to others."
She nodded solemnly.
"Yes, normally soul scapes look rather pure and serene. Even the most violent killer's soul is still just a soul. Your soundscape on the other hand is like this. It does not welcome me at all.
Kurayami didn't mind as Shin floated next to him in his soulscape. The dog was excited about what was to happen.
"It suits us I say."
He reached out and began to pet Tyrant and his pets around. He even patted Ulrik on the shoulder. Esdeath decided to wish him luck as he said it was going to get dangerous here.
"Good luck with whatever crazy thing you are about to do. I know you would not die so easily after all."
Akeno floated toward him and hugged him tight
"She is right. Good luck with whatever reckless thing you want to try."
"Keep planting flags and I will die."
They all covered their mouths as they had heard about that curse. It was like saying, what could go wrong? Everything goes wrong. As such, they left his soul to escape leaving him alone.
"Now, let's see what this is about."
He began to move closer to the vortex and when he did he could feel the energy of his soul begin to flood his body. This power was more than he could take so he stopped moving forward when he felt it was his limit.
'This is perfect and everyone is here. His 4 familiars, Sacred Gear, and 2 swords floated patiently for him to begin.
"Let's start Shin. Behowlest the slaying of one thousand mortals,"
The moment that first line started both his spirit body and his body began to radiate giant streams of power as he began to go balance breaker. He felt it as the power of his soul, Shin, and Incenearate Anthem flowed into him.
"Besingest the slaying of ten thousand goblins"
On the outside, the second line caused this power to begin to condense around his body. Amaterasu did not panic as she knew he would have done something like that. The darkness began to take the form of black armor and 9 coiling tails behind him.
A dog-like head seemed to overtake him while the power seemed to flow from his body and soul to form armor.
"My name, immersed in the deepest darkness of death"
From his back emerged his wings, but the overflowing power began to warp and mutate them. Everyone watching noticed an extra pair from the normal 5 he had. When they were counted, he had 6 pairs of wings meaning he had directly become a Seraph.
The power generated by his soul and fused Longinous had been the catalyst he needed to finally step into the same class as Azazel. He had worked himself to the bone and he had finally achieved the legendary rank.
He still had two more pairs of wings to achieve, but it was a start.
"The Imitation of God traversing the Abyss."
They wanted to stay and watch, but the feeling of dread and oppression was too great. They were all being pushed back by the power soul and fused Longinus. They also noticed that around his neck a burning collar had appeared which was Incinerate Anthem.
He no longer looked like himself, but now looked like a bipedal dog-like werewolf encased in armor with 9 burning tails behind him. His 12 wings burned in black flames as they crackled with lightning.
His eyes were closed and he was sitting down, but the pressure was maddening. Esdeath, Raynare, and Akeno were working together to stay up. Kuroka was using touki to stay up while Natsume was already out cold.
An eruption of black, purple, white, and red flames began to emanate from his form and began to fuse into the forming armor. This was different from the normal balance breaker of Canis Lyacon, but this was a result brought out by Incinerate Anthem.
A Balance Breaker never before seen with two Longinous took powers of both and fused them. As for the soul of the Fiend that had once made his Balance Breaker The Fiend of The End had been fused with the consciousness of Incenerate Anthem.
Seeing that it was only going to get worse, Amaterasu teleported him and herself away to keep her mountain from crumbling under his might. She took the both of them to the Fallen Angel territory in the Underworld.
Just taking him here made her use up a lot of power as the anti-divine aura was weakening her power. She looked at Kurayami as she wiped the sweat from her brow.
"This is not just dangerous, it is insane. What did you do, Kurayami?"
He could not answer her, but he would when he was finished.
"Perish by my own black blades."
All around his body black swords, axes, halberds, spears, and naginata, were formed from the darkness around him. Each new line caused the vortex of power in his soul to surge into him.
The overflowing Soul Essence that he had collected over his life was beginning to flow into each of his pacts. His familiars, his swords, his sacred gear all of it was receiving a boon of plenty from his soul.
"By the god of Death. Balance Breaker, Death Dog of the Burning Night Sky."
The moment he completed the chant he felt how the vortex stopped spinning for a moment because he was forced out. His Balance Breaker seemed to have caused the chaos of his soul to stabilize for a moment.
He raised his hands in front of his face as he looked at the armor, fur, and claws.
"So this is my Balance Breaker. Amazing."
At his side, Shin looked like a mass of shadows as large as a mammoth. Kurayami reached to his sides and drew both of his swords as both weapons evolved a level higher.
This was the catalyst that they needed to evolve into the next state. This little event alerted his mother who sent him to this world after his first death. Kurayami's soul was a small shard of her own as such they were linked. She always kept a hands-off approach toward him as if he truly died she could always keep him safe.
Although they were linked, Hell had wanted his soul for the simple fact it contained her power in it. That would be bad for everyone involved so instead she found a way to grant him a path forward. She could have turned him into any race, but she choose Fallen Angel because it's powers would balance out her power.
But, he had reached this state much faster than he should have because of Shin. Now that he had awakened his true power she felt it was time to talk to him. Of course, that would wait as it was not yet time. She had been alive since time itself, waiting a few years was nothing to her.
In the end, it would make Kurayami even stronger than he was now.
