Chapter 8

The kind nurse willingly went out of her way to treat Gyebi in the ambulance since no hospital was ready to take in Gyebi because Covid 19 patients were prioritized above all, and because of the rate and manner of infections. It was highly risky to mix non-Covid patients with patients who needed isolation and were experiencing very severe symptoms of Covid -19.

The ambulance roamed around town trying to find space for Gyebi. All of them refused to take him in as if they had forgotten how to be professional all of a sudden. The ambulance driver was at his wit's end and so were the paramedics.

" This case is also equally serious. The patient has health insurance and yet we still cannot find a place for him?" asked the driver of the ambulance.“Young man,” said one of the paramedics to Gyebi, “Fate seems to be against you. We cannot take you back home too. You risk infecting your wounds.”

" Can you not treat me in this ambulance?" asked Gyebi.
