Chapter 29

Obaa Yaa enjoyed the trip with her friends, especially because she had revealed a secret that her family had kept for years. Okyeame had been bugging her mother for years to marry her, but she stuck to her guns and stayed true to her cause. She wasn’t willing to let another man steal her heart as that man did. Asabea kept leering at Obaa Yaa as they rode along.

“I’ve noticed that you’ve been staring at me all this while. What’s on your mind? Do you like Okyeame already?

No. Far from that. Asabea frowned and shook her head.

It’s obvious you detest this man.

Detest is too subtle a word. Okyeame’s too forward to my liking.

Even I remember the way my mother became jittery every time he came around her.

He must be an irk then.

Oh, yes, he is! Asabea, despite letting out some steam about Okyeame, couldn’t cease to leer at Obaa Yaa.
