The Concert

For the next few weeks, Joe and Hope met every day for lunch or some other event. Not one day passed without them meeting up. They became inseparable within a space of days, learning more and more about each other every time they spoke.

Joe didn’t like tomatoes. Hope was allergic to strawberries. Joe had travelled to England. Hope had never been on a plane. Joe was scared of the dark. Hope hadn’t learned to swim until she was ten and had a horrible fear of water.

They both were meticulous time keepers and planners, and they loved the sound of old music and pianos. They both collected postcards and old photographs because they held history. Neither of them had played on sports teams and they loved to relax and chat.

When they weren’t face-to-face, they were texting. With any decision of any kind, big or small, the pair asked each other. They talked late into the nights until the sun had begun to rise.
