37 Who is that Man?

Hubert Raymund got the impression that it only took a moment, one word, one look, for his whole world to collapse.

Not his world, Adam Lechoń's world.

Hubert didn't look away from the man, too busy staring at the suddenly pale Adam. It was no ordinary pallor. At that moment, the young lawyer's face resembled that of a ghoul. Even his lips had taken on a shade of ash.

It was... disturbing.

“You know, I'm getting bored of this place” Hubert remarked casually. “I feel like a change of scenery. What do you think?”

Adam didn't seem to get the point of Raymund's words, so the architect switched to a more direct approach.

“Let's go from here” he suggested and reached across the table to touch Lechoń's hand.

Adam pulled her back as if someone had smacked him with a whip. But he suddenly sobered up and recognized that he had Hubert in front of him.

“Don't you like the food?” Lechoń asked with feigned interest. He was a weak actor, but he tried to hide his negative emotions.
