59 In the Dark

Adam struggled to open his eyes. His head was buzzing, his eyes were like a fog, and he felt a dryness and a strange aftertaste in his mouth.

What on earth had happened?

Adam struggled to collect his thoughts. He must have been rendered unconscious by someone. He remembered being in the car, in the passenger seat, and then... Then...

What was after that?

Lechoń shook his head wanting to expel the cotton wool eclipsing his thoughts, but all he achieved was nightmarish pain and slight nausea. He couldn't discern the situation and all he could see was darkness.

He tried to move and realised that he was sitting on some sort of blanket laid on top of something cold and hard, tied to something cold and hard. A concrete cellar? A boiler room?

It was dark. It was cold. And it was quiet.

No, not exactly quiet. Through the noise in his head, a strange, disturbing sound reached Adam coming from nearby...
