Darkness Treasure

At night, the beings of the Devil Swamp Forest came to life. The skies were dark and the mist which was forever present in the forest had a light hue of green that originated from the moonlight.

In a clearing, several corpses of weird-looking creatures were laid out on the ground. Their bodies were riddled with holes that leaked black blood. The most glaring fact was how unnaturally large the bodies of these creatures were.

Just for comparison, a young purple-haired boy was sitting on one of the bodies yet, it seemed as if five or six more of him could easily use that body in particular as a bench.

Speaking of the boy, he had in his palm a compass-looking object. The needle was pointing in a particular direction while the whole body of the compass trembled violently.

"There is a treasure in that direction. Seeing as your Fortune Detection Treasure isn't vibrating, it means that whatever this treasure is, it isn't attributed to fire."

Without removing his gaze from the compass, Blade spoke to Athena who was cleaning a long red-colored double-sided spear. This weapon was a much stronger weapon than the blue as it was a Profound-Level weapon...

"Well, it's obviously not going to be a fire attribute. The environment a treasure is born will also influence the attribute that the treasure will be able to manipulate."

Athena seemed quite knowledgeable as if she was expanding the knowledge of an ignorant youth eager to learn of the world. This kind of teacher aura that emanated from her reached Blade.

Tch!

"Ok, oh great one, please enlighten this ignorant young one. Tell me, oh great one, what type of treasure will be given birth in this environment."

A little annoyed, Blade cupped his fist and slightly bowed his head while saying this. But, even though these were his actions, Athena could sense the sarcasm.

"In this world, there are nine World Laws. Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Wood, and Metal are the most common ones. The rarer ones are Lightning, Light, and Darkness."

Though she sensed his sarcasm, Athena didn't care. She happily smiled and explained everything she had come to know up to this point.

'Lightning, I have lightning. And those other two, the white and black must be Light and Darkness, right? Wouldn't this mean that all my Laws are rare World Laws!' Thinking this, Blade's sour mood elevated, and a dazzling smile appeared.

For a moment, Athena was left dazed upon seeing that smile. Luckily, she recovered quickly as she still had more information to convey.

"Though Lightning is proclaimed as a rare World Law, it's much easier to find a Lightning user than to find a Light or Darkness user..." Athena said.

"Those who cultivate World Laws that are considered rare find it much harder to gain insights and raise their cultivation base."

Upon hearing this, Blade sighed. It was obvious that it was due to this rule that up until now, he is still unable to manipulate neither Light nor Darkness.

"But, the Heavens are fair and a cultivator with this Law is normally stronger than a cultivator with a Common Law. These cultivators are geniuses, and are automatically Young Holy Child."

When reaching here, Blade suddenly rose his hand, gesturing for her to stop. After a moment of silence used to build up some tension, he asked.

"Am, how does this have anything to do with my question? I simply want to know what type of treasure has been born, not how one becomes a Young Holy Child."

Tch!

This time, it was Athena who clicked her tongue, surprising Blade as she said. "I continuously suffered to find you. I joined some Sect so I can find you, only to realize you weren't even on the continent."

"I decided that since I was in that Sect as a very influential figure, I'd collect a lot of information that would come useful for you when we meet next. After doing all that, instead of thanking me though, you berate me!" Her eyes turned teary.

Oh!

Blade froze. He didn't want his pawn... No, he didn't want his 'lover' to feel hurt by his lack of affection, lest she's manipulated by the enemy and harms him.

Walking up to her, he embraced Athena, surprising her as he, for the first time in a long time, said an apology. For someone like him, doing this was a piece of cake, empty words but, for Athena, it was the world.

Her tears subsided and her previous calm smile resurfaced. Separating from Athena, Blade turned his back to her and followed the direction of the needle.

"Come, let's go find this treasure." He uttered. These words brought another wave of warmth. Last time, before entering the Devil Swamp Forest, he simply walked off, but this time, Blade told her to follow him...

It might have seemed like something unimportant, but for Athena, it only caused her to fall deeper into the abyss called love, and this was love for someone like Blade.

'By now, love has long turned to obsession. Some are scared of them, but I've cultivated not one, but two yanderes. The first wasn't intended while the second seems much worse than the first.'

Glancing toward Athena, Blade's purple orb glimmered with a proud light. This thing was what he had created, his creation, his possession, his lover.

"Oh, and what type of treasure is it...?" Blade asked. Seeing as she had recovered, it was time to question her once again. And not wanting to be viewed by Blade as annoying, she quickly got to the point...

"As these are its surroundings, it must deal with the Darkness attribute. Anything to do with the Darkness attribute is considered relatively evil. This also applies to cultivators."

Kekekekeke...

He couldn't help but chuckle. He was someone who couldn't deny such a statement. 'Though I can't be considered too evil, I do lean to the eviler side.'

"Oh, and I assume cultivators of the Law of Light are considered righteous." He wasn't someone who would miss this cliché, he asked Athena to confirm what he already knew.

"You knew...?" Athena was surprised her ignorant lover had come to know of this. "Yes, Light is known to be used by righteous individuals. With the Law of Light, cultivators can do things like healing other cultivators or ridding Evil spirits no matter how powerful...!"

Athena finished her words by saying, "Evil Spirits can sense Light users so they usually do anything to steer clear of them."

Ah!

'No wonder we've not come across even one Evil Spirit.' The duo had found it weird since according to the information, Devil Swamp was filled with countless Evil Spirits. Now Blade had understood why this was the case.

"Okay, let's go now." Since he understood that their only opponents were flesh and blood creatures, Blade naturally felt a lot more soothed. The natural fear of something that can ignore physical attacks had dispersed.

...

...

{2 Hours Later}

A Darkness Attribute Treasure was very rare in the world. In fact, due to their rarity, Fortune Detection Treasures were unable to locate them.

Well, this was the case for the normal Fortune Detection Treasures but, Astral hadn't given Blade any normal treasure to detect fortuitous encounters.

Though Blade didn't know this, Athena understood that Blade's master wasn't as simple as Blade made him out to be but, she didn't question it.

Anyway, the duo appeared at the mouth of a dark cave that released a creepy bone-chilling aura capable of giving many shivers due to how uncomfortable it was.

Athena did feel uncomfortable but her current strength was enough to repel any feeling of fear while Blade didn't even feel uncomfortable.

He felt very comfortable he felt as if he had returned to his home after a couple of long and arduous years.

"Deeper into the cave is the place where the treasure must be." With the compass in hand, Blade was confident that he had arrived at the home of this mysterious treasure.

Speaking of the compass, it was shaking even more violently now.

It was shaking several times more violently than when reacting to Athena's treasure, even though that treasure could be considered very rare in this world!

'I wonder what treasure could cause such a violent reaction.' Blade's breathing was heavy. Claiming treasures did excite him somewhat because it meant a rise in his overall strength.

Raising his strength meant raising his survival and reaching closer to becoming an invincible entity as even though he's changed since entering this world, becoming Immortal remained his goal, it had simply evolved after seeing powers like Astral and experiencing the power of cultivation.

From wanting to become Immortal to wanting to become Invincible. Invincible meant to become absolute. To become Truly Ultimate. Even facing unknown entities, as someone Truly Ultimate, one remains Invincible.

'My goal is to be able to kill with a mere thought. To create and destroy with a mere thought. And although I don't know if this is possible, I'll simply cultivate until I can do it. Even if it takes an eternity, I'll reach this point and transcend it.'
