The Other Half

Oh!

At the same time a bloodthirsty aura descended, and Blade felt his sword vibrate more wildly.

He wasn't an idiot and his memory was commendable, he immediately remembered the words of his master upon acquiring this sword.

"Seeing as I care for my disciple, I'll give you this Half-Step Origin treasure."

"Though I think it's actually an Origin Grade Weapon that was split, and probably has another half, but this isn't important."

These were the words his master once said when giving him the sword. Repeating these words, Blade was enlightened.

No wonder when it appeared, the thing seemed to desire to rush toward the Peng Clan's Leader.

It wasn't to rush toward the leader but the sword in the leader's hand. This was the other half of the sword... it had to be!

Thrum!

'But, since when have inanimate objects had a mind of their own?' Glancing at his sword, Blade thought. 'I shouldn't question this logic, right?'

Anyway, Blade's focus was on Peng Clan's Master. He had a large grin etched on his face with blood leaking from the cracks of his mouth.

He seemed like a madman.

"I don't care who you are. For murdering my son, today is the day of your death!.."

As he said this, the sword began to light up. The aura, that bloodthirsty aura began rising more and more, becoming more bloodthirsty.

Drawing the sword out of his bloodied chest, the thing was glistening in blood. Right after, the blood seemed to fuse with the sword.

The city lord pointed the sword to the skies. Instantly, the corpses of those killed by Blade began to tremble violently.

The treasure hovering over Blade's head took the soul and enslaved it, but the body was useless so they would remain as how they were before the treasure took the soul.

These bodies lying on the ground trembled before, through their seven orifices, blood flowed out in streams without any sign of stopping.

Blood then began floating into the skies. Blade remained standing, watching this scene with an unreadable expression.

Similar to the city lord's blood, the blood of the army seeped into the blade as the red patterns brightly lit up, and began releasing a much scarier and evil aura.

It had now become soo big that, in the clouds over the whole city, a bloody aura tainted the air and covered the city with a crimson hue!

Thrum!

The scene was no different than an apocalypse as the Leader of the Peng Clan cackled maniacally before confidently saying.

"You seem young yet you're already a Martial Lord so it seems that your background is incredible."

With his eyes gradually darkening, the city lord said. "This is even more reason why you'll have no choice but to die today."

Kekekekeke...

"I tried." Blade cracked up laughing. Clenching his stomach as he laughed.

Seeing the city lord look at him with confusion, he stopped and said. "I tried taking you seriously, but as you've seen, I've failed."

"Oh, do you have a secret technique to use?" The city lord proclaimed. The gaping wound on his chest that leaked blood had now healed completely. Every other wound too.

As the duo spoke, Blade realized that the city lord's aura was rising continuously.

Eventually, it reached the point where Blade could call it stronger than a Martial Lord but weaker than a Martial King.

Pseudo Martial King!

This was the reason why Blade couldn't help but laugh. Wasn't this courting death?! Even if he was a Pseudo Martial Emperor, Blade would simply take him on but without worry.

Yet, with a Pseudo Martial King cultivation, the guy had the gall to be soo arrogant in front of Blade.

Ignorance is bliss...!

"Secret technique? No, definitely not. I need not waste my time learning those things that harm one's potential."

"And even if I did have one, hehe, I would never use it against a pitiful and weak human like yourself." Blade covered his smile and said.

The black hair of the Peng clan's leader stood on end as his aura spiked.

Just like the first time, he didn't bother speaking any longer, and just like the first time, Blade was utterly casual in his movements.

"It seems you don't believe me?" Blade uttered. At the same time, though it showed some resistance, with his will, the sword in his hand disappeared.

With his sword in his space ring, Bade was weaponless in the face of a weapon wielder, and a powerful one at that.

Xiu!

Turning into a blur, Blade then reappeared once more. Shockingly, he wasn't in the city lord's line of sight but levitating behind the city lord who rushed toward Blade's previous location.

Bam! Crunch!

One punch.

Boom!

It was with one punch that sent the Peng clan's Master flying down to earth. A massive explosion took place as all the nearby buildings were instantly destroyed.

Whoever was unlucky enough to be resent in their house, ended horribly.

City lord's consciousness was hazy. He couldn't comprehend what had just happened.

One moment he was racing across the skies toward his truest enemy, the next he was lying in a small pool of blood.

Suddenly, Blade appeared with his arms folded and a mocking smile on his face.

A smile because he was truly looking down on the Peng clan's Master, and a smile because he had confirmed his thoughts.

The moment the Peng clan's Master released the grip on him and the sword, it was that moment when his cultivation had reverted back to a Low-Level Martial Lord.

To once again reach the level of Pseudo Martial King, the city lord would need to grab hold of the sword and wait for it to raise his cultivation.

If that was a possibility with Blade levitating in front of him, the answer was no!

Slowly descending until his feet landed on the surface, Blade approached the city lord and then placed his right foot on the city lord's face.

Hehehehehe...

Peng clan's Master began chuckling. Seeing this, Blade's feet moved from the man's face and pressed down onto his chest instead.

"Tell me, what do you find so funny?" Blade's voice was frigid as he squinted his eyes and intensified his suffocating Martial King aura.

"Hehe, nothing, nothing. I only hope you don't leave this continent. But, they say true enemies will always meet each other... Hehe... you're dead, you're dead, you'll definitely die!"

Crack! Crunch!! Spurt!..

Not one to listen to the nonsense of others, Blade crushed his chest until his foot was inside the city lord's lungs, causing blood and matter to splash up into the air.

Tch!

"Disgusting..." Blade grumbled. But, his mood returned to its usual state a moment later as his attention honed in on a sword nearby.

Picking it up, Blade frowned. He could feel a mysterious force entering his body. Though he could resist it, he didn't sense any threat from it.

Ah!

Immediately after, Blade's veins bulged. A different kind of power coursing through his veins, and it continued pouring into his body, more and more.

As this happened, the glowing crimson light from the sword in his hand dimmed. The more it dimmed, the stronger Blade felt.

But, as his strength rose, Blade's mind slowly found itself in a trance. On his mind was one word. It was a word he was all too familiar with.

KILL! KILL! KILL!

A demonic chant resonated in his mind, forcing his eyes bloodshot.

'No wonder this city lord would attack so idiotically. Well, he had just lost his son too, but I think this sword had much more of an effect.'

Fwoosh!

The light dimmed out and an aura of bloodthirst escaped Blade's body. Shaking his head, he smiled to himself as he felt his body was slightly weaker than normal.

'Not only is the increase in strength limited to the time it'll take for the blood to burn but when one increased strength disappears, they'll be severely weakened.'

'Well, my body is different than the usual human so I'm not severely weakened, but I'm still slightly affected by it. I can only imagine how pitiful it is for a normal human...'

But, he also was incredibly happy. Though it came with a few side effects, there was one plus side to this all.

The fact that the increase in strength could be infinite in time if he constantly has the sword absorbs the blood of opponents.

'I wonder what'll happen if it absorbs my blood?' Suddenly opening his palm, he used the long blade to tear apart his skin.

White liquid containing a purplish hue leaked from his wound and slowly seeped into the blade as the changes took place right away.

The two-meter blade of the sword slowly transformed from a red and black color to a mixture of the first two colors and white as its base, intertwining with a deep purple.

Hmm?

What confused Blade was the lack of power-up. The sword had clearly changed from absorbing his blood yet, he didn't feel his power rising.

'Does it not work on me?' He thought but, in front of his eyes, a holographic screen appeared.

Ding!
