A Story

After that weird occurrence in that dream, I continued to practice my magic after awakening it at my age. Even though I was 3 years old, my parents didn't argue with me about the book since it was burnt down by some mysterious force.

But what seems off is that my parents are acting as if the book of spell guides didn't exist, as if it was erased from our household with no trace, and the weirdest part about it is that they have no memory of me learning magic.

Given they didn't realize this, they were surprised that I had been gifted with the ability to awaken my magic at such a young age.

It appeared like they weren't expecting me to learn the understanding of magic at such a young age.

Feeling a little bit bothered by this, I relieved a bit of my stress by practicing a spell that came to my mind. Looking at the right hand of my palm, fire began to erect, and slowly a small ball of flames appeared. It was slightly faint, but I can feel the small gushes of heat brushing up against my face.

Not knowing how to put out the small flame in my hands, I cast a water spell into the finger tips of my left hand, aiming it straight at the ball of fire and finally

"Wow Jin, this is impressive. You can use magic at just 3 years old. But I mean, you are my son, so this is no less than remarkable."

I nodded my head, not knowing what my dad was saying.

My father, Xavier, who was 6 feet tall, was an adventurer who participated in countless A class dungeon raids. I remember my mum telling me he was extremely strong with his sword alone.

What's really interesting about my father is that the kingdom anointed him as the knight of honor last year. I wondered if I could be someone like him or maybe even greater.

I viewed my father as a funny and kind hearted person as he always shared his stories of heroics from the dungeon.

Every afternoon I hear the sounds of my father's sword being swung around, and I go to look outside my window. It's like he's dancing along with his sword, like a flowing river.

I was always interested in the sword he holds, as its curved black single edged blade shines bright even in darkness. He told me its name is Light. Though I couldn't understand why it was called that, he said it was once a blade that shone in all aspects of swordsmanship, and he attained "peak mastery," which turned his sword the color black.

Lost in my own thoughts, my mother had walked into my room and gave my father this conspicuous look, telling him to leave, and so he did.

As she walked towards me, my mother looked at me with a gentle smile on her face. She took the wooden chair from my desk and placed it in front of me. While it wasn't easy to understand what her intentions were, I just sat on my bed in silence, a little bit nervous about what she's going to say to me.

" Jin i know this is very sudden, but i want to have a little chat with you about your new found powers…" she said this in a very worried tone and continued.

"Though I'm not sure what led to your awakening so soon, I just want you to know that you should be careful about how you use them."

I couldn't understand what she was trying to say to me, so I asked her why.

"Mum, I still don't know the reason why you're saying this?"

I was really confused trying to put all these things together in my head but nothing would click.

As I looked back at my mother. She sighed and looked me straight in the eyes.

"The founding father of my family also awakened at the same age as you. I heard of the stories about his prodigious talent and how much of a great mage he was. helping countless people and many countries with dungeons and rebuilding at such a young age. All he expected was a smile and a kind-hearted thank you.

So much talent was imbued in just a unique person his strength and powers rivaled that whole era alone. All he wanted was peace for all things and to live a happy and joyful life.

but…"

She stopped. Although my mom was trying to tell me something about my very great grandfather or founding father, I could at least understand a bit of what she tried to say to me through her shaking voice.

she trembled in a tone which made me feel as if she was crying. she continued with what she was trying to say to me.

"But due to the founding fathers overwhelming strength he became the greatest threat this world has ever seen. They realized that letting him walk on this planet freely with no restrictions brought great fear to many other countries seeking his power and knowing that he could be used for military use.

So one day in the country of Gathlania, they launched an attempted capture in order to restrain him and use his powers to gain the upper ground in every country. But they were no match for his strength; he easily overwhelmed them with little to no difficulty. As his magic prowess was unmatched not one person came close to attaining the power that he had. Inevitably the country viewed this as resistance calling a world-wide emergency which resulted in all countries banding together to execute your grandfather.

He fought countless forces of every country's men for 6 months and finally fell to their hands due to his overwhelming exhaustion. As each country suffered devastating casualties they finally managed to capture your grandfather and finally execute him not much was known about where hew as buried or taken but it was an awful story to listen to."

She had finally finished the story of my great- no Founding Father, I understood he was a kind and gentle man who wished only for peace amongst all but in the end he couldn't achieve this feat as his power alone threatened the world itself

But I asked my mother a question,

"Isn't that only a story mum?"

Her eyes began to water up bringing me close she opened her arms and placed it around my shoulders hugging me tightly and spoke.

"yes... It's just a story."

Looking outside my window the sunset had begun to fall and all I could do as of now was pat my mothers soft silky brunette hair.

though there was nothing I could do. I just sat there comforting her.
