#Chapter 13 Threats

I slowly opened my eyes and for a blissful moment, I forgot where I was. For just a breath, I forgot that I wasn’t in my own bed back at home with my parents already wide awake in the kitchen. All of that was ripped away from me the moment I glanced around and saw darkness.

My aching headache had at least disappeared for the time being and I didn’t feel so hot anymore—but everything else about me felt weak. As if I had no strength at all.

I sat up with a small grunt and looked around. Since when did I change into a white nightgown? My cheeks heated at the thought of someone else doing it and I silently prayed that I had just forgotten that I did it myself.

The room was empty at least, it was the first time I had been alone in forever. I ran my fingers across the dark, silky sheets that made sense for a boy like Dylan. Everything in this gothic fairytale room made sense for him.
