Back to the present, Mingyue decided to test if the space can preserve food. She boiled a glass of water and put it in her space. She heard about spatial power and its advantages from others but she wanted to test it.
Mingyue called Yuan again to let her know about the trip and Yuan agreed.
"I wish Wujin was also here. He is on a business trip now." Yuan sulked. Her husband was out of the country and could not join them.
Fuck.
Mingyue smacks her forehead. She forgot about her brother-in-law. Zhang Wujin was a lawyer and he often traveled abroad for work purposes.
She hung up and tried to call Zhang Wujin. Like always, the guy never picks up.
Mingyue recalled that they could never meet him after the apocalypse. Yuan always worried over her husband. Watching Yuan's distressed state, Mingyue could do nothing but hope he was safe. Hope is all they could do during their lowest times. They could barely protect themselves and had no means to search for him.
She breathed a heavy sigh of resignation.
'You know what? Let's think positively. Maybe he was alive in the past living somewhere far from them. He will be alright now as well.'
She could only move forward with her plan. She will try her best to contact him so she could warn him about the imminent danger.
Mingyue booked the flight tickets for Longyan at 2 pm tomorrow. She also reserved a room in a hotel nearby the airport.
'All done! Phew'
Mingyue was hungry after exercising her brain. She opened her fridge and found it almost empty.
The time was 10.30 am. Well, she could have her breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Mingyue drove her scooter to her favorite restaurant.
Zhou's Dumpling Hut was a small and cheap restaurant, owned by a 53-year-old lady, Zhou Ning. She was a humble and kind lady who made delicious food. She was also generous in adding extra portions for her daily customers, one of them being Mingyue.
Mingyue ordered crispy chicken congee and pan-fried pork dumplings. After ten minutes, she was served her long-awaited breakfast.
'Ah, This is Heaven!'
Mingyue was almost brought to tears after being deprived of a hearty meal for a year.
She ate with great relish and enjoyed every bite.
Mingyue thanked Zhou Ning for the tasty food and left the restaurant with a full stomach.

Longyan base will be the future haven for the survivors in the north.
Mingyue had watched the news about the scheme for creating shelters in her previous life. Both Yuan and Mingyue were not knowledgeable about the established bases until three months later.
All the five bases were stabilized after one month of the apocalypse and people had already settled down.
The survivors were either rescued by the army or went on their own once the word spread.
Mingyue had two options. The first one depended on her and her family's luck. If she and Yuan are taken by the army squads, then Mingyue does not have to worry about their future. She was not familiar with the standards of living for the people at the base in her past life. She was certain that it was safe compared to being a wanderer.
But if they were not lucky enough, both Yuan and Mingyue had to enter the base on their own.
Mingyue had to go through a lot of hurdles to find the Chenyang base. How could she know the exact location of the base at Longyan which was a vast city?
She knew that the chances of not meeting the army were highly unlikely, but she still decided to procure the supplies.
Mingyue had money to acquire the resources. Nevertheless, money would be useless during the apocalypse. She chose to take pleasure in spending her savings from her job.

'Fufufu~~~ I shall fulfill my urge to splurge my hard-earned income today.'
Mingyue made her first stop at a small vegetable shop that only sells fresh vegetables and fruits.
She bought tomatoes, cabbage, chilli, radish, potatoes, carrots, green onions, and onions that were sufficient for one month.
She also got two boxes of apples with 30 pieces each and five dozens of bananas.
Mingyue only chose to purchase the important stuff. She could not stop herself from buying her two favorite fruits.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away and a banana, well, is a banana.
Mingyue could not come up with any excuse for bananas. She would regret buying the latter of the two in the future.
The vendor was stunned to see the large purchase. He packed up all the purchased items and asked Mingyue how she would carry all the bags after she pays.
She came up with a lie about her sister coming to collect the bags and requested him to help her carry the bags out.
Once the vendor went inside, Mingyue dragged the different packed bags to a corner with less public and put all of them in her space.
Her second stop was at a retail store. Before starting from home, Mingyue checked her pantry and she noticed she already had a bag of rice and another bag of wheat flour, 25kg each which she bought at the beginning of the month.
Mingyue still chose to buy two bags of rice and flour just in case. She also had spices but there was a shortage of salt, pepper, eggs, and oil.
Mingyue bought an oil tin of about 16 liters, salt, and pepper.
She bought ten cartons of eggs with each carton containing 25 eggs.
She paid for the stuff but she looked at the crowded area. There was no chance for her to put the ingredients in the space.
She checked with the retail store owner if there was a storage room where they can keep her stuff. Lucky for her there was one at the back. Mingyue informed him that she will get her sister to help her. The store owner showed her the storage room. He told her that she could collect her stuff from there.
Mingyue looked at the time and it was 2.15 pm.
She decided to stop by a baozi shop nearby in the meantime. She asked the owner whether hundred steamed pork buns could be prepared by the end of the day. The baozi shop owner agreed and told Mingyue to come at 8 pm to pick up the order.
Mingyue went back to the retail store and entered the storeroom. She made sure there was no one nearby. The packed items disappeared and Mingyue left the store.
'Wow. This space will be an ultimate cheat item for a thief.'
After her last stop at the Pharmacy, Mingyue was ready to go home. She bought some basic supplies in bulk - medicine, first aid, and nutrition milk powder for Little Bao.
Mingyue had lunch at a nearby diner and headed home at 4 pm. After a long and tiring day, she nodded off the second her head hit the pillow.
Mingyue woke up at 6 in the evening when her doorbell rang. She squinted her eyes and walked to her door sleepily. She was stunned to see the water cans lined up in front of her door.
Mingyue paid the bill and moved all of it into her home with the help of the delivery guy. She ordered twenty water dispenser bottles of 20 liters from a mineral water supplier. She also bought a cheap plastic bottom water dispenser with a 10L capacity that had a tap and an opening on the lid.
The doorbell rang again and this time, she got her new gas cylinder.
Mingyue placed a table in the kitchen and moved her gas stove from the cabinet with her old gas cylinder. She moved the setup to her space along with the newer one. She also set the water can on the water dispenser on a wooden stool.
She moved all the food rations from her kitchen to the space and arranged the newly purchased supplies.
After that, she went to the baozi shop and collected the ordered buns.
The next day, Mingyue woke up with an empty bank account.
