Chapter 07

Elanie groaned standing up and putting on her floppy slippers heading to the bathroom.

In a few minutes she was done and out of the bathroom feeling good and refreshed. She went to the wardrobe to pick out a cloth to wear. After much contemplation she decided on a black turtleneck sweater and jean.

She took her Toms transport tote heading downstairs slowly before getting to the down she walked to the small dinning room and met her Mom setting up the table.

"God morning Mum," she kissed her cheeks.

"Remember you are to join me in shop today after school," she reminded her.

She rolled her eyes. "Mom you've said that countless times today.

"Do you even listen? or you might as well not show up just like yesterday," Amir her older brother came in to the dinning room.

"Can you be less annoying for once? like i said i totally forgot yesterday.

He snickered sitting down. "Or you were busy going through Gael Jackson social media profile with my laptop.

"Who is Gael Jackson?" Mrs Scott their Mom said as she placed their breakfast before them. Muffin Tin Omelets with prosciutto, feta and spinach.

"Thanks Mum," Elanie smiled at her Mom.

Mrs Scott sat at the dinning table along with Amir as she pick up her fork.

"Elanie sweetie, who is Gael Jackson?

Her throat tightened as her Mom said that, she took her glass of water on the table gulping it down quickly.

"Is everything alright?" Mrs Scott asked looking at her daughter.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she nodded.

Amir wanted to say something but was interrupted by the knock on the door.

"I'll quickly go check it out," Amir stood up and headed to the door.

"Detective Trixie," She brought out her Badge and Amir stepped away and the detective entered.

"Elanie Scott, detective Trixie! i have some questions about lisa and why you threatened her few hours before she was murdered," The detective said and Elanie almost choked on her food.

"Lisa murdered? how is it even possible?

Mrs Scott dropped her fork. " what's happening detective?

"I'm sorry Mrs Scott but we need to talk with your daughter.

"That's nonsense, my daughter is not a killer," Mrs Scott butted in.

"It's fine Mom," Elanie turned to the detective. " Lisa told me to stay away from Gael Jackson then i told her to stay away from me or else vultures will feed on her carcass. it doesn't make me a killer, does it?

"No, but it does make you a suspect.

Elanie lowered her head. "I swear detective i didn't kill her.

The detective nodded. " do you know anyone who would wanna harm Lisa?,

"No.

"Okay! Thank you for your cooperation," The detective said and headed towards the door, living the building.

"You never said you were bullied," Amir said looking all worried.

"I wasn't bullied okay? it was just a normal chat, so sad she's dead," she quickly stood up. "i have to get to school.

"Are you sure you will be alright?" Mrs Scott asked.

"Yes Mom." she pecked her Mom on the cheek.

"Let me drop you off with my scooter, I'm also done," Amir said and Elanie nodded.

"Be safe my babies," their Mom said.

Elanie scanned the school hallway wondering if she could sight Gael or her friend.

"Elanie! she heard someone screamed her name. only one person does that. Jenny!

She turned around and Jenny came rushing to her and embraced her. Elanie giggled as she wrapped her hands tightly around her.

She pulled away. " i missed you so much."

"I missed you more," Elanie said with a pout. " And how are you feeling now? better huh?

"Yeah! No more hospital or taking drugs.

Elanie and Jenny have been best friends right since Elanie came to mountain high college tho Jenny had been in a coma for a month which explains her absent from school all this while. Its a miracle she woke up. Jenny parents are freaky rich and she's the nicest girl Elanie has met.

Jenny linked her arms around Elanie as they walked through the school hallways. She was very happy to see to see her friend after a very long time.

"So what's this I'm hearing, Coach is dead and Lisa was strangled yesterday?

Elanie stopped by her locker. "it's horrible and to think the detective said I'm a suspect in Lisa's case freak the hell outta of me.

Jenny chuckled softly. "A suspect, how?

"well, we kinda had an argument not really an argument sha and she told me to stay off Gael Jackson then i i also told her to stay away from me if she doesn't want vultures to feed on her carcass.

"Lisa said that to you?

Elanie smiled hearing that voice! Gael Jackson. he wrapped his hands around her from behind.

."Gael stop hugging me this way, I'm not your girlfriend," Elanie scolded him playfully.

He chuckled as he pulled away. "What's wrong with that or you want me to ask you out?

Elanie crossed her arms. " i don't want any of your crazy fan girls to come warning me to stay off their boyfriend.

"Oh man! you can have her," Jenny giggled like a baby.

"Jenny! Elanie nudged her.

"Girls, gotta go, I'll see you later little pumpkin," Gael gave Jenny a side hug and pecked Elaine on the cheek before running off.

Jenny watch as Elanie's face flushed red and a smiled crawled up on her lips.

She squealed excitedly. "Elanie you like Gael.

"What? hell no! i don't," she replied hastily

"Of course you do," Jenny interjected.

"You know what? we have to get to class fast before the teacher scolds us," Elanie muttered and ran off.

Jenny smiled knowing she is just trying to avoid the question.

She ran after her. "Wait Elanie!

Elanie ignored her as she keep walking faster.

"I said wait Elanie," Jenny shouted little louder this time.

"Just drop it Jenny," Elanie said exhilarated. "i don't like him not even an atom of love for him.

"I'm just saying you both would make a great couple, hottest guy in mountain high college and Miss bookworm.

"I wanna get to the class," Elanie whispered to Jenny ignoring what she said last.

Jenny dragged her back. "cheerleading practice, wanna tag along?

"No thanks.

"Is because of Luciana right?  Did she really scared you that much that you have to be afraid of her?

"I almost got drown because of her.

"I know," Jenny hugged her for a while before walking to the field.

what Jenny asked flashed through Elanie's head. "Did Luciana really scared you that much that you have to be afraid of her?

Elanie sighed. How bad and terrible Luciana was back then. she almost got Elanie drown in the swimming pool just because they had a little argument.

But did she really need to be afraid of her?

"Is almost a week since Coach left us and she was really a good Coach, a leader who sacrificed so much for us, for the team and its so sad and unfortunate that she is no more," Luciana use the tip of her fingers to wiped off her tears as she talked to the other cheerleader. "For now, Linnea will be in charge," she continued.

"What? no way! Linnea can't be in charge, i totally disagree with this," Isabella yelled.

"That's non of my business if you agreed or not you are welcome to leave," Luciana also flame up.

"Listen girls! Gosh! i can't believe I'm about to say this but if there is anyone capable of leading the team right now then is Linnea," Jenny said

"Of course is always Linnea all the time! first she snatched Ella's boyfriend and now this?" Isabella scoffed already pissed off.

"And what do you mean i snatched Ella's boyfriend? Incase you've forgotten, he chose me and not Ella," Linnea also flame up.

"Forget it Linnea, she doesn't worth it, she's just an attention seeker," Gemma soothened Linnea.

"Wow! Bravo! I'm outta here," Isabella yelled
