Chapter 27

I wake up. As usual, I went to sleep on time. But today, I had to sacrifice my bed. Because, Hazel, Eden and Fay are sleeping on it.

Moreover, Hazel and Eden have turned humanoid. So that bed is in trouble. Three people sleeping on it is trouble.

I was sleeping on the floor. But I couldn't sleep. You must be wondering why Eden isn't introduced yet.

I will do so later. But I can't sleep. No matter what I do, I can't sleep.

I have been counting sheep for a while. Stopped at 5000. Can you even imagine that? Counting 5000 sheep to get sleepy.

But I can't sleep. So I wake up. I look at the clock and it's just 2 at night. What to do?

I look at the girls. They are sleeping peacefully. And a sound sleep at that. Fay and Hazel are squeezing Eden between them.

Isn't Eden being suffocated was what I thought but it wasn't the case. She is sleeping with a really happy face.

I wonder what she is dreaming. But the big question arrives.

What should I do? Can't sleep so lying down is a pain. And can't sit quietly because it's too boring.

I get up and look outside the window. The night is bright. Ehh!!! I didn't know tonight was a full moon.

The outside is bright. Really bright.

Let's go and take a walk. It's not like anyone would complain.

Because we are the only ones here. Not a single human aside from me is alive. Hazel and Eden were previously animals who just became human like and Fay is an alien.

She looks and talks like humans but what exactly is she is unknown. She is the UNKNOWN.

I put on my shoes and open the door. My door doesn't make a sound but I will be extra careful not to wake them up.

After leaving, I start my walk. I look at the moon. She is beautiful as always. I don't know if it's me or something but the moon looks a little bigger tonight.

"Where should I go?" I say that aloud. No one is listening to me anyway.

I start walking. First I walked all over the place. Going from here and there and then I left the city.

The moon is starting to set. So I should find a good spot to watch the sunrise.

I try to remember. Was there an open plain field somewhere nearby? Then I remembered.

The waterfall is extremely open. The waterfall in the forest is open and the horizon could be seen.

It wasn't the sea but you can clearly look at the horizon.

I pick up the pace. And before I know it, I started running. I ran at a moderate pace. No need to rush it.

When I reached the waterfall, I was speechless. The moon is directly in front of me and it looks so beautiful that I forgot to breathe.

At the same time, I got chills. Like something just marked me and I got the goosebumps.

I look around to see if any animals were around but nothing was around. It was just me and the moon.

With water falling down and the moon shining, it creates an ephemeral scene.

I sit down and watch that scene. But after a while, I got bored. Sure the moon is beautiful and the scenery is breathtaking but I alone am enjoying it.

It would be more enjoyable if I had a partner.

(I can help.)

Areehh???!? The mysterious voice just spoke to me.

"Are you sure?"

(Yes. I am your ally after all. I can serve as a conversation partner as well.)

"Who are you?"

I had this question for a while. Who the hell is this? The mysterious inorganic voice which is sounding more and more like a woman.

(You can call me whatever you want. I have a formal name. But you are not worthy enough.)

"Eh. Isn't that sad? Does anyone even know your name?"

(Yes. However you do not have nearly enough worth. I will tell you if you can prove your worth to me.)

"Are you human?"

(No. I am not human either. You can call me humanoid though.)

"Humanoid? But where are you? And why are you suddenly helping me?"

(I have always helped you. It wasn't until recently, I was able to speak to you directly.)

"Are you a man or a woman?"

(I am a female.)

"Are you always watching me? And how can you give me the energy?"

(It is your right as the only survivor who passed the trials. And yes, I am always watching you.)

This is freaky. A little too much knowledge given.

(Don't worry. I will meet you very soon. But you have to complete the goals first and prove your worth. Then you can meet me and I will grant any of your wishes.)

"Are you a god?"

(No. I am not a god. Don't lump me together with those self centered bunch.)

At least she is not a god. That's a relief.

(Ask me if you have any questions. And treat those girls well.)

"I will. There are many uncertainties. I don't even know what is what anymore but do give me answers when I need them. Also, why did you tell me about them?"

(It's necessary. If you don't have bonds then you are as good as a dead person. You are alive. So cherish your bonds with others and try to create new bonds.)

"You are starting to sound like my mom when she was still talking to me."

(Hahaha. I guess I am. But more importantly, look behind you.)

Eh!! She told me to look behind. I look behind and see something.

It is Hazel with Eden and Fay. But Hazel is really angry. She is trembling and her tail is upright. She is real mad at me.

"Oh Hazel. What are you doing here?"

I feign calm and ask her. Can't show her that I am scared out of my wits.

"That's what I would like to ask you, master. What are you doing here at this hour and you were talking to yourself. Master, did you go insane?" (Hazel)

"There is no way that happened. I happen to have a habit of talking to myself. That's all. I think I am sane, maybe."

Can't say for sure. I have been questioning my sanity for a long time.

"More importantly, why did you bring them?"

I point at the sleeping Eden and Fay. They are trying to open their eyes but can't because of their sleepiness.

"When I tried to get up, they clung to me. So I had no choice but to bring them with me." (Hazel)

She sighs. Her sigh kinda woke them up.

"Anyway, sit down." I show her beside me.

I thought they would sit beside me in an order. However that didn't happen.

Hazel took my right arm and sat by my right. Fay took the left arm. Eh! She took my left.

Eden sat on my lap like she used to. Now, I am being sandwiched from both sides with Eden on my lap.

When I look at the moon, it looked even brighter.

But I get the feeling that it's laughing at me.

I looked at them. However they have fallen asleep again.

Not much I can do. Let's just sit here for another 3 or 4 hours.
