A son, a father and an outsider

The dinner was delicious. As always Fiona's cooking is top notch. My mother and Fiona shared some tips. My mother liked to cook. She even taught cooking sometimes.

Eden and Aura went to sleep. Well, Aura was going to tuck Eden in but I told her to get some sleep. I mean, she always has trouble getting up. Let's see if she gets up early when she sleeps more.

And it's probably midnight. Mom went to sleep as well. The entrance to the pocket dimension is in the dining hall.

Dad and I are sitting on the sofa. Everyone else has already fallen asleep. The entire city is quiet. At least this part.

"This is the a first for us."

"What is?" (Dad)

"You and me sitting together late at night. This has never happened before. Mom would always get angry with me for staying up late at night."

"Yeah. She didn't even let me stay up. Lights out by 11. That's the rule." (Dad)

Dad and I laugh. But I shush him.

"We should go somewhere else. Everyone is sleeping after all."

"Where can we go this late at night?" (Dad)

I was searching for a place to go.

(Why not go to the training ground of the castle?)

The training ground? Why there?

(Something interesting might happen.)

I sigh.

"Let's go, dad. I have a place in mind."

"Is it far?" (Dad)

"Not that far. It'll take an instant if we teleport. And I guess about 30 seconds if we fly."

"I can't fly yet. And teleport uses too much mana." (Dad)

"Then I will teleport us. Dad, hold my hand."

I extend my hand which he grabs and we teleport. The teleport I use is pretty simple. I just think of the place and put some mana. My surroundings would change automatically.

After opening my eyes, I see that I am indeed at the training ground. The ground itself is a circle and torches are lit to enlighten the ground.

"This is like a training ground." (Dad)

"It is. It's big and has some seating arrangements. We can have a talk here without disturbing anyone."

We walk into the ground. I thought no one was there. But I was wrong. I can hear clattering sounds. Someone is shouting and hitting something. Sounds like wooden sword.

"Clive, is someone here?" (Dad)

"I thought no one was here. Let's check who is here."

We walk towards the source of the sound. It's none other than our hero, Trevor McCarthy.

He is hitting a suspended piece of log with a wooden sword vigorously. His breathing is heavy. He is drenched in sweat.

Ahhh….he is training. How I admire people who wholeheartedly train! It's not sarcasm. I really do. I have never trained wholeheartedly. Never did I put my efforts into something.

"Is that Travis's son?" (Dad)

"Oh..you two were friends, weren't you? His dad and you?"

"But what is he doing here?" (Dad)

"Who's there?"

Dad kinda raised his voice. Trevor probably heard it and inquired.

We both go in front of him. He becomes silent.

He is staring at dad. Oh, dead people don't walk among the living.

"Trevor, before you faint, know that my dad is 100 percent real. You aren't seeing things."

I say. Because he was about to faint.

It was a sticky situation for a moment but I managed to avoid it. I created a few seats and we all sat down. Although Trevor was still suspicious.

"Are you really Mr. Belmont?" (Trevor)

"I am. It has been a while since I have seen you, Trevor." (Dad)

Trevor kind of calmed down. He isn't too wary of him.

"Then dad, let's begin."

"What are you beginning?" (Trevor)

Trevor stood up as he asked in a hurry. Come on, dude, chill! I ain't about to do anything.

"Well, Clive said that he hardly remembers anything from his childhood. So I thought I would jog his memory a bit." (Dad)

"He doesn't remember his childhood?" (Trevor)

"Why are you looking so dejected?"

"No reason." (Trevor)

He faced the other way in a hurry. Are you being coy?

"Let me in on it as well."

I felt weight on my shoulder. I see a pair of slender snow white legs hanging down from my shoulder.

Someone has taken a seat on my shoulders. This tone is definitely hers.

"Samantha, what are you doing?"

"Hey, my name is not Samantha."

"Then what is your name?"

"It's too early for you to know."

"Then from today you are Samantha."

It has been a while since I met System. And she still hasn't told me her name. I thought of it for a long time and decided on a name. That's Samantha.

"Clive, isn't that your mentor?" (Dad)

"In a sense. But she never even told me her name. So I decided to give her one. From today onwards, I shall call you Samantha."

Me and dad were fine. Samantha, she was drumming on my head. The only one to freak out is Trevor.

"Wh…whe…where did you come from?" (Trevor)

He ran away and asked from behind a pillar?

"Well she is my mentor. You can say that."

"Your mentor? This small girl is?" (Trevor)

"Clive, I have always watched over you so I know how you first met him. But still, he kinda gets on your nerves, doesn't he?" (Samantha)

"That's the kind of guy he is. His sister knows it well. So she basically does the talking."

We did stray from the topic but yeah, dad reminded us.

"This story is about to not too long. I mean, aside from your birth circumstances, you were pretty normal." (Dad)

"Uhmmm….Mr. Belmont, could you really call that normal?" (Trevor)

"It wasn't anything unusual. So let's begin shall we?" (Dad)

"Wait! Samantha, why did you come here?"

"I know everything. But, it seems a lot more fun if I am present, doesn't it?" (Samantha)

"I can't say I understand. Anyway, let's begin, dad."

I am not expecting anything unusual. I was normal and still insist that I am normal. I won't let you say otherwise.
